As an Arizonan what an absolute honor to have someone be so principled that they are willing to break from the majority even when they know iptheyll face backlash. I remember when my mother switched from being a lifelong republican to voting democrat after the 2016 election and feeling so proud, I’m glad to see elected officials do it too.
I am a 57 year old African American Voter and have voted on the Democratic ticket since I first voted. To be honest, the Democrats have pushed the bar too far for me to feel that I'm standing with the Lord. The spirit guided my conscience to an awakening of policies that I wasn't truly comfortable with. I like many Americans, loved President Obama and the unity he brought the American people. However there was some major changes in Legislation that I couldn't stand with. The 2016 election would have been the first time that i would have voted against the Democrats. I watched a couple of candidates that would have had my vote if they had won the Republican nomination. Then all of a sudden the Republican Party nominated Trump. He imploded the party I was about to join. His legacy speaks for itself. Hats off to the Republican men and women that didn't put that clown before country. You know who you are and I am who I am. After almost a decade, here I am still voting with the Democrats and against the mess of the party he destroyed.

There are unfortunate excesses in both Party’s rhetoric and I’ve been put off by some of the Dem nonsense of recent years, particularly the shrill insistence of moral purity. But it’s never been to the point where I was ready to jettison them entirely for even the more sane version of the Republican Party of pre-Trump times. Many of those earlier Republican rhetorical excesses (and their clear dog whistled messages) always crossed a line with me. I just couldn’t find myself ever being able to live with them. I also believe the nutty wing of the Dem Party will stumble and wind up in the ash heap eventually. The great middle of the American populace just can’t abide that crap.

White Independent here, rallying hard with the Democrats. There's a lot of internal work that has to be done and a lot of repair in a post-Trump world. I find that we need to all find common ground. For now, we need to unite. After we defeat right-wing authoritarianism, we need to take a serious look at ourselves and unite against the issues that affect *every* demographic. Housing, lifting people out of poverty, helping farmers who grow our food, helping people whose jobs are threatened by new technology, and issues we don't fully know of or understand. When Trump came out, I saw him bring out the evil in people. Coughing on people in a pandemic on purpose? For me, I just strive to become a better person so I can sleep at night. The hell I’ve gone through with my family in NY because of the costs skyrocketing and the lack of childcare are and specialists in absolute nightmare, the polices aren’t working I was a single mom with two boys and NEVER couldn’t get the doctors and the specialists my sons never had issues getting speech therapy or seeing the wound care doctor for one of their ultra rare disease, now it’s a nightmare my youngest has non verbal autism my school taxes tripled but she can’t even get into a pre school they have 16k kids waiting for the special schools, 2 years of begging, pleading going to lawyers, to get her in a program it’s been hell absolute hell, and no one can explain the solution. Every specialist and teacher can’t make ends meet so they leave, everyone therapist we had all 7 ots in 2 years have played musical chairs because they hate the job the ABA therapist we had 2 , no one sticks around after months of waiting for an opening you finally think your going to get the help an the doors slammed. I’m not exaggerating what this has been I sincerely had to pack my home and move this summer, because there’s no child care that’s affordable it’s not true I don’t care how many times they say it’s, I am living it, so what’s the solution to this? We can’t have kids at home with serious medical needs that aren’t being met and then they require life long care, you can’t work if you have to raise a child and be there 1:1 carer, but no one’s even talking about how serious this is and how there’s no solutions being made. I became an RBT and realized so many of these jobs are not paid if the child isn’t there, so the pay is low and horrible an the work is not what most people will ever want to do when their are easier jobs working at amazing that pay more here, an then you have to depend on the parent to show up at the clinic or be home if you have to travel to their house. I never wanted to leave my state but I have absolutely no choice it’s that or my kids will end up being in a foster care system because I can’t afford to care for them, social security for a disabled child is $800 not enough to live which is why we can’t get social security because I have to earn more to survive. If I had all my student loans money back that would be nice but I don’t get a dime, I paid it myself struggled hard to a for what? All these story’s I hear but I am not seeing anything good happen, so please enlighten me on how the heck are we suppose to survive if the build back better plan isn’t working and needs to be fixed but no one is willing to fix it????

As an Arizonan what an absolute honor to have someone be so principled that they are willing to break from the majority even when they know iptheyll face backlash. I remember when my mother switched from being a lifelong republican to voting democrat after the 2016 election and feeling so proud, I’m glad to see elected officials do it too.

I am a 57 year old African American Voter and have voted on the Democratic ticket since I first voted. To be honest, the Democrats have pushed the bar too far for me to feel that I'm standing with the Lord. The spirit guided my conscience to an awakening of policies that I wasn't truly comfortable with. I like many Americans, loved President Obama and the unity he brought the American people. However there was some major changes in Legislation that I couldn't stand with. The 2016 election would have been the first time that i would have voted against the Democrats. I watched a couple of candidates that would have had my vote if they had won the Republican nomination. Then all of a sudden the Republican Party nominated Trump. He imploded the party I was about to join. His legacy speaks for itself. Hats off to the Republican men and women that didn't put that clown before country. You know who you are and I am who I am. After almost a decade, here I am still voting with the Democrats and against the mess of the party he destroyed.

Thanks for giving us your story. There are unfortunate excesses in both Party’s rhetoric and I’ve been put off by some of the Dem nonsense of recent years, particularly the shrill insistence of moral purity. But it’s never been to the point where I was ready to jettison them entirely for even the more sane version of the Republican Party of pre-Trump times. Many of those earlier Republican rhetorical excesses (and their clear dog whistled messages) always crossed a line with me. I just couldn’t find myself ever being able to live with them. I also believe the nutty wing of the Dem Party will stumble and wind up in the ash heap eventually. The great middle of the American populace just can’t abide that crap.

White Independent here, rallying hard with the Democrats. There's a lot of internal work that has to be done and a lot of repair in a post-Trump world.
I find that we need to all find common ground. For now, we need to unite. After we defeat right-wing authoritarianism, we need to take a serious look at ourselves and unite against the issues that affect *every* demographic.
Housing, lifting people out of poverty, helping farmers who grow our food, helping people whose jobs are threatened by new technology, and issues we don't fully know of or understand.
When Trump came out, I saw him bring out the evil in people. Coughing on people in a pandemic on purpose? For me, I just strive to become a better person so I can sleep at night. Cancel out the evil that's been out there.

This election is about so much more than any one party. It's about defending our right to vote, as Trump has repeatedly told his supporters they won't ever have to vote again after this election. Moreover, his cronies have secured election officers who will refuse to certify votes, effectively circumventing the electoral process and allowing the Republican majority House of Representatives to elect the next President. We need a landslide in order to send an irrefutable message to Congress.

So how are we going to eat and keep a roof over our heads? The hell I’ve gone through with my family in NY because of the costs skyrocketing and the lack of childcare are and specialists in absolute nightmare, the polices aren’t working I was a single mom with two boys and NEVER couldn’t get the doctors and the specialists my sons never had issues getting speech therapy or seeing the wound care doctor for one of their ultra rare disease, now it’s a nightmare my youngest has non verbal autism my school taxes tripled but she can’t even get into a pre school they have 16k kids waiting for the special schools, 2 years of begging, pleading going to lawyers, to get her in a program it’s been hell absolute hell, and no one can explain the solution. Every specialist and teacher can’t make ends meet so they leave, everyone therapist we had all 7 ots in 2 years have played musical chairs because they hate the job the ABA therapist we had 2 , no one sticks around after months of waiting for an opening you finally think your going to get the help an the doors slammed. I’m not exaggerating what this has been I sincerely had to pack my home and move this summer, because there’s no child care that’s affordable it’s not true I don’t care how many times they say it’s, I am living it, so what’s the solution to this? We can’t have kids at home with serious medical needs that aren’t being met and then they require life long care, you can’t work if you have to raise a child and be there 1:1 carer, but no one’s even talking about how serious this is and how there’s no solutions being made. I became an RBT and realized so many of these jobs are not paid if the child isn’t there, so the pay is low and horrible an the work is not what most people will ever want to do when their are easier jobs working at amazing that pay more here, an then you have to depend on the parent to show up at the clinic or be home if you have to travel to their house. I never wanted to leave my state but I have absolutely no choice it’s that or my kids will end up being in a foster care system because I can’t afford to care for them, social security for a disabled child is $800 not enough to live which is why we can’t get social security because I have to earn more to survive. If I had all my student loans money back that would be nice but I don’t get a dime, I paid it myself struggled hard to a for what? All these story’s I hear but I am not seeing anything good happen, so please enlighten me on how the heck are we suppose to survive if the build back better plan isn’t working and needs to be fixed but no one is willing to fix it????

I’m an immigrant who has lived in this country for over 30 years. I came to the USA to get a Masters degree. After that I got a job offer and ended up staying here. I remember how I used to admire and respect this country for all its achievements in science, arts, entertainment, sports, technology,education. Since Trump became president and the maga movement appeared I’ve lost my reverence for the USA. “America” no longer inspires me. It actually scares me. I hope this will change in November.
