What’s funny is my instructor asked me why I was there. Because I knew how to drive but just needed someone to help me get the time requirement for the license. Then when test day came he said we’d do a practice of the test to get prepared. I nailed the practice and was told that it actually was the test but he says that so people don’t get nervous. Thanks Barry and Paul. (Barry was my instructor for the first half but left due to family matters). Paul picked it up from there.
Bruh you're so lucky! When I was taking my test I was a complete mess, but my instructor somehow convinced the policeman (who was behind me in a car because I was on a motorcycle) that I was always good on the lessons and that I was just nervous because its a test. I still passed, but god I was so stressed I lost all ability and knowledge that I've learned lmao
When I got a CDL, my permit test had 100 Questions on it... Not the standard 50... I was in line with these giant Cargo Trucks and seeing them Parrallel park and manuevering in a parking lot sized test. I was watching the high school drivers take their tests... It literally looked like a kiddie ride next to the tallest roallercoaster at the DMV... lmao
i haven't even went into drivers ed yet but my friend who has sadly had to deal with the awful drivers ed trainer at our school. he literally ragdolled when he turned a little too hard
I just took a 6 hour course. The training my mother gave me was 10 times more brutal than what the DMV required, she would have me drive a 120 mile loop regularly 😂
Yeah I was so confused watching this like 12 hours a week for 6 weeks is crazy. And having to pay. Mine was just during the school day like a normal class period it was only 4 hours a week for 9 weeks. So basically half of what he had to do and no time out of schedule.
i was never told that on the test if you hit a curb at all it was a fail. Either that or i was oblivious. So when i took the test i got close to the curb like regular instead of playing it safe and I passed perfectly. test instructor said I was the best driver in months
Geez that sounded like torture. In my school, drivers Ed took place of gym for quarter of the year. The gym teacher would teach the class and it was all book work. We had to take a test at the end and after you pass you, you have to drive 6 hours with a driving school and then you can get a permit
My school didn’t have a driver’s ed Hell, you don’t even need to do driver’s school if you’re over 18 I got to the dmv, showed proof of residence, payed the $40, and took the test It took longer to have my picture taken and permit printed than it did to take the test Then, i got a driver’s school, because parents thought it would look better for insurance, and my first lesson (behind the wheel) i asked the instructor to sign the permit, to validate it Instructor looked at it, checked the date on his phone, and said “you don’t need a signature, you’re not a minor” And the worst part? You don’t need to prove the 50 mandatory hours to get your license Someone with a DL just has to say you did it, no questions asked Meaning the only real requirements for getting a DL is to wait the mandatory 6 months, and pass the test Which was so easy that people drive over an hour to have their kids test here No wonder so many people die on roads every day
Yeah, I didn't want to have to go through a driving school to learn how to drive, let alone to prepare for the permit test, to pass the computer or written test for it. When you're under the age of 18 and a minor, you have to go through a driving school. I waited until I was 18 to get my license but I prepared for my permit test by doing practice tests online and downloading apps to learn the rules of the road and learn road signs and all that. I failed the first time getting my permit. When you get more than 6 wrong, the test automatically ends for you here in South Carolina, the computer will tell you that you failed and back you out of the test completely. I went in for the permit test again and passed the second time, I remember the first time, a guy next to me was cheating off of me, asking me "Hey what's the answer to this question?" Just kept cheating, every answer I gave him were right but I told him I need to help myself here😂 and I ignored him for the rest of the test so he failed before I did but we both failed that time, I don't know how many times he went in to get his permit but yeah we both failed that day😂 I was very busy with school, trying to keep up with my grades so I never learned how to drive until I was 17 graduating from high school. I passed my road test on the first try with very little driving experience with my brother. I took my test through a driving school in 2020 during the pandemic, instead of the dmv because they are more strict when going through the dmv directly, I told the driving school I wanted to take the road test and they let me because I was 18 so I didn't need to go through the school and take courses. My test took 21 minutes, It was just driving around the block of the driving school, I did Parallel parking, backing up straight, 3 point turn, turning left, turning right, lane changes and driving through a neighborhood at one point. I was nervous because I didn't have much experience driving but I passed first try, I never knew my score but I knew I passed once they gave me a green envelope to take to the dmv, it said test results on it and it had my name on it, but it said to keep it sealed so I wasn't allowed to open the envelope, and they told me to take that to the dmv to take my picture and get my license. I'm glad I don't have to worry about the pressure of getting my license anymore.
I had such a different experience. It helped that my Dad owned a auto salvage yard and we always had some kind of beaters around. Everyone was expected to learn to drive in a rural community. They provided the class as part of regular high school curriculum. The driving instructor had no ability to control the vehicle from his seat; it was just a normal car with "Student Driver" on a sign on top of the car.
Glad that in the UK you can just walk to loads of places, there were lots of small shops and nuerous places to eat within 10 minutes of my school, I now have a shop, two take outs and a bar across the street from where I live- no having lunch at a gas station! No having to drive 20 minutes if I run out of milk for my breakfast!
Remember: In many U.S. states, the left lane is NOT a fast lane! There are Keep Right Except To Pass laws that are in place to prevent people from hogging up the left lane
after i pass normal driving school i was allowed to learn to drive truck. my teacher put me to drive 16 wheeler 435 miles in very bad snow blizzard. I couldn't even see 15 yards in front of me, still i drive like 40 - 45 mph. now I know how fkin lucky I was that we didn't crash.
here in japan, the class hours were repaced by really entertaining well-made videos about 26 50-minute videos. they were really fun and much educational than listening to someone. i still hated the driving instructors tho
I did drivers Ed and I had to drive w a stranger for a good 8 hours like 1 hour everyday though. Before I just did online courses and they wouldn’t let you move onto the next section until you have all 100% on everything. Then I took my drivers test w the dude I drove with for 8 hours w drivers Ed. He’s like “you didn’t parallel park right but imma pass you anyways.” I’m like cool 😂😭💀 that’s chill w me fam 🤷♀️😎 first try I passed. I got my license at 16 you can get it way earlier in Indiana if you did all the extra shit like I did
alright this is definetly gonna get me to fully prepare for the drivers test, my mentallity for the classes and wating times, and my driving skills so I have a 99.8% chance to pass
It's so much easier in europe. Although you have to be 18 to have your licence. But it's regular livence, you don't have to have anybody with you. We literally had theory for 1.5 hours, once a week. Driving was multiple times a week with a driving instructor. He told me what mistakes I made, and prepared me for the final test. On my final test, I had to not stress, cuz I had to be smooth with the clutch. And that taught me to control my stress😂
Great video I really enjoyed it. Im getting my learner's permit really soon once I graduate from highschool and I can relate to everything you said. This is why im greatful to do drivers education after I graduate from highschool because I can do the 6 or 7 hours during the weekend then not have to worry about school on the side. I graduate June 8th of this year and around July or August is probably when im going to driver's school.
Is it required to take a class now.? If it's not you don't need to go to any classes it's actually a lot easier to learn yourself all you have to do is just memorize the rules of the road pamphlet it contains everything that will be on the test just every day keep going over it again and again have someone test you on things till you know the pamphlet inside and out.
Im 14 years old at the moment and I’m learning how to drive with my dad I drove 2 times and I did pretty ok but I was very bad at using the breaks and turning hopefully I practice more and later I get my licensee
For me Drivers Ed was 5 weeks, two hours, three days a week. Permits weren’t needed to drive with a parent, once you passed you could take the written and driving test from the dmv
Finlands driving school is heaven. Theory lessons are just 4 you tube videos that last 1h 30min each. You watch them when you want and then you sign up to do a 30minute theory test. After that actual driving lessons. You get your license for free at some places if the instructor gets mad at you😂
I failed the driving test the first time cuz I forgot how to do the 3 point turn, but likely unlike my dad who had to wait 2 weeks to try again, I was able to take it again the next day which was Christmas Eve and I passed
Dang my experience was a lot easier, my parents signed me up for driving with a company and I drove with them for maybe 5-6 hours over a period of 1 hour a day then a simple test with them and I got my license.
My drivers test, both of them cuz I took the drivers test twice cuz the last thing which was the 3 point turn and I just stuck, so I went back to the place I was taking the test the next day after practicing the 3 point turn straight into my head, and I passed
Bro I live in Utah got my permit when I turned 15 and then did drivers Ed through my school online then did road and tested and got my license when I turned 16 it took probably a month from starting drivers Ed to being able to get my license. You have to have your permit for 6 months tho
Bruch as a german Im can just laugh. In Germany getting your license is absolutely crazy. It takes a minimum of 12 theoretical and at least 12practical lessons with an instructor. You have to pass the theoretical test with 30 out of around 1500 questions before you even start the driving lessons. At the end it costs a lot of time and at least 2000€ 😭😭
Crazy how when I lived in Kansas I just walked in the dmv early in the morning waited a couple mins took the permit test and got my permit 😂 (also took a online drivers ed for 40 hours)
Lol. My test wasn't as eventful. All I did was follow the directions where where and when to turn in the parking lot. It was so easy. The tester didn't even get in the car. Probably because of the pandemic.
0:14 Damn, I took 2 hours for the instructor to take me to the highway... and my father was teasing me it took me twice the time to learn... (Yeah, I know, 2 hours is actually not that bad a time, found out from the internet)
I’m still waiting to take the road and permit test. I have to do my vision screening (something that my school does) first before I can do the road test. For some reason my school decided to move the vision screening to October 9th even though I took my exam back in August. I think my school is plotting on me 💀
What kinda Drivers ED course is 6 weeks? Granted I’m 25 so it’s been almost a decade since I had to do it but I’m pretty sure mine was like 3 8 hour classes and then 3 in car sessions with an instructor.
What hella 6 hour classes for the written test!? . Never went to a class for the written test I got my license for first time in 2016 it says on my card. I was doing a little driving with my mom before but before the written test I just studied the rules of the road pamphlet with my mom everyday little hear and there basically memorizing the book. Till I knew most of it by heart. When test time came I passed it very well. To me that was easy part. Got my permit drove with mom more. Took driving school part which was like 2 times me driving with the teacher then he determined I didn't need any more driving tests. Then I took the final driving test. I was nervous as hell. But apparently I bearly past the first time. Got license like a week later in the mail I believe. It wasn't that hard for me just took hella practice every day it seemed little bit by little bit . I don't know process now adays so it could be different if it is I don't know why they would make it more extra difficult to get it
I failed the first time, on literally the last possible moment, good god, I was taking a right turn back into the parking lot and there was a pick up truck tryna leave on its right. I make my turn and a fucken second pickup truck comes out from behind the first one, i get scared and "run over the curb" immediate fail. I took the test again the literal next day and passed. I hated it
Screw the permit and class. Waste of time and money. I just waited and got my actual license. I had my dad teach me. lol Been driving 15 years, still got a perfect record. 😅

What kinda Drivers ED course is 6 weeks? Granted I’m 25 so it’s been almost a decade since I had to do it but I’m pretty sure mine was like 3 8 hour classes and then 3 in car sessions with an instructor.
And bc of that and other stuff I’m going after high school to a plane pilot school (pilot Ed )
That’s tough
I don't know process now adays so it could be different if it is I don't know why they would make it more extra difficult to get it
I took my driving test when the colonial pipeline got hacked. We ran out of gas on the 3rd day and the lady just gave me my license lol.
I hated it
From minimum to maximum time(6-8hrs), you spent 3-4 days in that class.
I didnt have to take driver school for the permit, but im going to before I get my liscense next year
here it was only 3h in 2 days a week at 7pm. Also after passing the practical test we got our licence via mail
Screw the permit and class. Waste of time and money. I just waited and got my actual license. I had my dad teach me. lol
Been driving 15 years, still got a perfect record. 😅
True
I have to take this some year soon that makes me feel comfortable
Almost at 100k subs
