HUGE shoutout to bsktballdave on Twitch/Discord for originally submitting the third elevator design. The design was submitted as part of one of our community challenges, and implemented on-stream in our main factory save! You can check it out over at twitch.tv/maxthecatfish Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays starting at 2:00CET/8:00AM ET!
really nice video, and clearly marked floor numbers.
could you please also clearly mark the times and timezones, maybe also give times in UTC since then everybody should be able to calculate his local time from it, including specialties like summer/savings time etc?
just now it is midnight in central europe on summer/savings time, thus 0:00 CEST (23:00 CET, or 22:00 UTC), and New York (ET?) is 6pm on the previous day. thus in two hours it will be midnight 0:00 UTC, 2am CEST, only 1am CET, and 8pm (not am) New York (ET?) on the previous day. which time do you mean when writing "2CET, 8am ET"?
edit/ps: if you see MEZ or MESZ somewhere, that's the same as CET/CEST, but translated to german :-)
Central European Summer Time = MittelEuropäische SommerZeit
@MaxTheCatfish what mods are you using, cause I'm not seeing any of these extra things in-game.
you all prolly dont give a shit but does anybody know of a way to log back into an instagram account?
I somehow forgot the account password. I would love any tricks you can offer me
@Kellen Leland instablaster ;)
@Arjun Forest i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now.
I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Im always in awe not only with satisfactory itself but how the devs allowed the creativity of the gamer to be almost endless! Im so pumped with update 4 and i cant imagine what the full version will actually be!
if you build your factory 10 foundations per level, that will allow you to have a dummy floor below that, plus room to stack constructors and assemblers 3 high, manufacturers 2 high, or one refinery. good for lower levels at least to allow for expansion
I just started playing and I love the design of the elevator to each level
There is a sign mod that you can use to write "to Floor 2", "to Floor 3" etc. But if you don't want to use mods, you can always throw items on the ground. Either throw 3 stacks of 1 iron plates for floor 3 or throw the appropriate item that is crafted on that floor. The items stay there and are similar to a sign.
Or you can use different colored walls, entrances or foundations (like carpets) if you can remember where they go.
Satisfactory Update 5, you can now get sign blueprints from the Awesome shop.

@@MaxTheCatfish I like how groceries is last on the list
Love these ways of moving through a factory so much and how you explained them. Could you make a video with tips on pacing yourself when playing the game while planning but not overthinking or overwhelming yourself when trying to produce smoothly. This is kind of my problem especially after watching playthroughs that get so much done in an amount of time.
I've got just the video for you Mavi! It should be coming out next week, maybe the week after. 😄
For my mega base I actually did the second design using the hypertubes with the floor to floor but with a single hypertube going all the way up (from bottom to top is 200m) but without the stairs. Will be incorporating the stairs asap because I really like the idea of having the stairs and the pillar enclosing the tubes. Clipping power cables through the floor is also acceptable to me even though I try very hard to not clip. I really like the last design. It seems to me that you can expand it beyond six floors which are 4 walls high. My base has train stations on the bottom floor which are very high and my second level has storage bus system which needs height for 11 conveyor stacks and 4 industrial storage stacked up (yes, I love lots of storage). In doing that you give up the 'clean clipping' of the tubes because you need use hypertube wall supports; but you can hide that by using solid walls in the upper portion instead of the glass. Great video! Update 5 woot!
This was great! Thanks man, certainly gives me some ideas for improvement!
In case you still playing and haven't thought of it: for a long strip of horizontal tubes, you can cut 1 foundation wide "hole" in it - entrances on both. If you just leave it, it'll suck you right trough going on - even speeds you up a bit. But you can use it as a stop.
It looks like one of the updates removed staircase clipping, so you unfortunately cannot clip stairs that tight anymore. Unless someone has found a workaround?
I found a way. By placing down a foundation clipped into the top part of the stairs, you can place another set 90 degrees off, instead of the normal 180 degrees
Pro tip: Put the entrance high enough so you jump into it, and dont get sucked in when you run past.
Easy to follow and nice designs, nice one Max.
It looks like the first design can be expanded by placing hypertube entrances on wall panels above the first level. I'll have to try it out after work :)
Love the video Max!!! Glad to see you still using that amazing elevator design! The contest was fun and Im glad I got to be apart of it. I really like what you did there with the dice numbers! Anyway, keep up the great work Max and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your content!

This video deserves my subscription. Never knew I wanted this until I saw it. Great tips and tricks video.
Thanks for making these tutorials! You do a great job of teaching/demonstrating how to make these. I wish Satisfactory tutorials were as popular as they once were for Minecraft. I don't see why more Minecraft content producers haven't migrated to Satisfactory. ?
Minecraft is still going strong! But ultimately the audience between Minecraft and Satisfactory is a little different. We *have* seen some larger creators explore Satisfactory, like Kibitz and even Notch himself! 😃
Satisfactory is still new, too, so there's plenty of time for others to jump on board! Thank you for the kind words by the way. I really appreciate them!
Love it, Max. My idea was similar to your first, but using the concept of the third. You just couldn't do stairs because of the clipping, no? Or could you just make the "plugged" hole floor line up with where the stairs would clip? Great content as always.
Yeah! I experimented with that idea while making this video, and had trouble making it work well. The reason the third example is so great is because the hypertube in the first position always connects to the first floor. The hypertube in the second position always connects to the second floor. Etc. If you try to combine the first and third designs, you would need to rotate which side of the elevator leads to which floor on each floor (because of the clipping through that fourth wall there) I found it to be a bit confusing.
But what you COULD do is just scrap the staircase entirely, keep the pillar (or delete the pillar even) and have a four-floor elevator with no staircase! On each floor, plug a different wall, and each wall direction represents a different floor to travel to. Definitely a possibility that takes up only a small space in your factory!
Love your videos. They're really helpful. Subscribed.
I think I'm going to do this and take it one step further with color coded floor tiles that correspond to what those floors are "responsible for".. maybe like black = warehousing/imports, blue = basic materials, yellow = mid game and assembly, red = manufacturers or something like that.. so a guest to the factory can easily find their way around
Love it dude. Have been in game since beta and pushing a 1000 hours and I have to say i love your Mk3 Elevator. Definitely going to be installing this. thanks
Came here looking for a way to move between floors in my mega factory - 3 designs provided! Love them all - really want to try the 3rd one. (Edit) 3rd one built [next time I'll remember your comments about using floors 4 walls high, 2 of my floors are 3 walls high but I can't face moving everything on them for now.]
Oops. Welcome to SATISFACTORY. Lots of 'Oops I should have ...'
Not a fan of tubing through solid objects but design 3 was great, plus it would look cool stuck on the side of a factory rather than in the middle so you can see it from the outside. As most buildings are 3 tall I usually keep manufacturers to a dedicated, larger 4 tall floor, with the rest being 3 tall which would solve your long tube issue at the cost of flexibility.
Tim, big warning about that. The reason Design 3 looks so nice is because every floor is the same height. The angle of the hypertubes only line up in the video because the floors are the same height (and the distance between wall holes remains the same).
If a single one of your floors is a different height, your hypertubes are not going to be as nicely aligned, but technically the design would still work! You might just want to hide the tubes behind a wall instead of a window! 🙈
@@MaxTheCatfish Yeah, was thinking about Design 1 for the height bit but you're right, 3 only works properly with standardized floor height
Love the videos keep it up
I generally tend to go with 3 wall tall factories, to each their own I suppose
I did the first elevator on my map quite a few updates ago, worked wonderfully! But now the stairs do not snap the way I was able to (identical to your video) anyone know if something changed with the way the stairs snap/overlap?
Max the Catfish: master of verticality. I’m using these ideas. Well done.
Good tips Max!
Great Video. Thanks for these designs!
Nice system. The pillar in the middle of the staircase isn't bad either, except I use it intentionally to get down faster. Jump down 2 or 3 florrs and you take no damage. So all the way down you jump zick zack through the middle to be faster down and without getting mad of running in circles. :D
Still those designs doesn't fit my/our kind of building as every floor consists of two floors. So first floor is "nothing", second floor first machinery, third floor "nothing", forth floor machinery. What does that mean?
First of all nothing isn't fully correct the floor with nothing is our resources floor as we connect all our machinery from below. So you have a floor two walls high, where all you resources are transported in and out, then you have the four or eight walls high floor with the machinery, then again a two wall high floor, then again the one with the machinery and so on. That way you can save a great amount of space as machinery and tubes or belts are separated and kind of share the same space. Those tubes and belts filling a machine or emptying it run on the same space just below the machinery falling into one of these holes is no problem either as you fall down just eight meters, what doesn't hurt you at all.
We use stairs in the beginning, but now we moved away from it and use ladders instead. You can make them as long as you want and they go up on the outside of the factory. That design is really late game design as the ladders go up beside each other one foundation for one production floor (that consist of two ladders, one to the one with the belts and tubes, like a false floor? one to the machinery) . If you want just one or a few floors deeper, you climb down, at the right floor you jump and fly sideways to the ladder you need to get into that floor. Now with the hover packs it just got even easier.
Still we use transport tubes too and the design with going through the pillar is really good.
When it comes to the power, you might do a small change. Use double wall mounts and take the power up right beside the tube. With you kind of placing the stairs you have enough unused space beside it in the staircase so that it just clips through the floor itself, but not inside the staircase to connect the entrances.
Great video!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it!
You mentioned that there is a limit in height you can go and I disagree. maximum tube length does not matter. You can use the techniques people use for hypertube cannons to bridge gaps longer than the maximum tube length. It won't look so nice anymore, maybe, but it is functional.
The amount of times he's said "no clipping" and then turned around and clipped a hyper tube or pipe lol I guess he means with the stairs and stuff but man you keep just saying "no clipping" while looking at egregious clipping :P
Yeah, his definition of "no clipping" was pretty arbitrary, but I will admit the designs looked good.
I've noticed that the pipes actually do clip with the space elevator. It refuses to go through even just the edges of the hitbox of that thing.
I'm glad I'm not crazy! I just set up a Hypertube tour of my megabase, and my hypertubes couldn't clip through the space elevator either! Strange!
@@MaxTheCatfish I think we can all agree that the space elevator is just a special snowflake. I built mine on a massive structure of pillars so I could do stuff underneath it :)
Max, which Mod you are using for flying?
And great video
Thanks! That's the PAK Utility Mod, you can find it on ficsit.app or in the Satisfactory Mod Loader!
@@MaxTheCatfish thx a lot
WOW O_o thats cool! i need to build one of these...
OH! I needed this video
Awesome ideas, thank you!
Awesome. Ill use the third option. And see if I can extend it to 7 and 8 floors or further. After I buy a new pc of course. My current pc has frequent heart attacks. The heat isnt helping.
Good luck! The length limitation of the hypertubes make it impossible to maintain the same design any higher than 6 floors. But you might be able to come up with something that breaks the hypertubes into pieces, while still maintaining their cleanliness!
Tryin to set up design 3, but my floors are taller than that (adjusting for a floor being for trains), so the tubes can't stretch past floor 4... I don't suppose you know of any mods that would only increase the max length of hypertubes?
Dude, why not make short-cut tube START 2 higher than other tubes (and end 1 higher than others)? it would make it visually distinguishable.
I have my problem with "hub" I made that tubes have no names, and I was lost in spaghetti. it can waste you a lot of time if you dont have a way to distinguish them. (that's why I love mods)
I have to look at that funny... you're making it in late june 2020, so, this is "New", but... I thought Hypertubes COULDN'T clip through each other and a column like that. Heck, pipes don't even let you build within the bounding box of factories even if they don't clip the hitbox... Looks like columns are an exception.
Columns and Foundations! You can clip pipes and hypertubes through foundations for some really clean base designs. :)
@@MaxTheCatfish Might be worth noting that the pipes need to be fed through after the foundations are placed, it doesn't seem to work the other way round for me at least :)
I was going to comment on why not use signs instead of the domino effect for the floor numbers. Then I noticed this was posted before update 5.
Brilliant video...thanks
every time i hear wallhole i hear the eyehole guy from rick and morty... MY Wallholes.. .not your wallholes... i'll get my coat.
Satisfactory really needs some sort of "decal" part to identify stuff. Reminds me that stuff exists on No Man's sky. It has pretty nice decals to "paint" on walls.
Still, your elevators gave me some ideas.
;)
that is one useful tips thanks alot !
For the Manufacturer (According to gamepedia):"Despite the new model being about 13 meters tall, its construction hitbox is only 8 meters tall.". So it should fit in a 3 wall tall room right?
This sure is Satisfactory
it looks good, but not practical for my use. I've build it such that all the entrances are at the ground floor level right next to each other so i can move to all floors from here. I use beacons at every entrance to tell me what i've build on those floors.
Genius
Hi max how's mike?
Mike is chillaxin' in the shade, drinking a couple margs right now on his day off! 🍹
could you please steam or record building from the start? please? no edits i like seeing the building lol
Hm, while this design is interesting, I wonder how a series of hypertubes facing each other would work like. You go up one level, walk a bit forward, up another level, and so on...
In my own testing it's really difficult to have the tubes face each other, allow for easy disembarking, and have it be compact.
Boop!
The pillars and stairs are no longer fit perfectly :{
Wish i could do this but satisfactory lag says no
Definitly last one
Of you just get the Elevator mod.
just download an elevator mod...
