I really don't know if this is a great project as an investment... but I very much love the goal of the project and I will get some coins just because of that!
The whole Internet is already a decentralized memory of the world... I can see the application of Arweave in times of dictatorship and history rewriting but, on the other hand, just like humans, humanity also needs to forget stuff to concentrate on the things that makes it evolve... Never forgetting anything, for me, is every bit as scary as the thought of forgetting everything.
Don't think about retail data;) Think about blockchain data (ETH, ADA, SOL, ERD) that needs to be stored;). Blockchain data storage will be a real use case.
Great concept, except one thing. global users are bound by the shortage of hardware - in this case storage. There already is a problem in China, and this will only get worse with concept of this type - hardware supply will be limited by the demand, and will also be limited by the same regimes who do not want the information to be retained indefinitely by the masses. Instead, storage of data will remain in the very hands of the global monopolies like Amazon and Microsoft - who have already shown disregard to the freedom of information by blocking the right wing outlets as well as the President of America D. Trump. Whatever you do to try and fight it - you will loose - because the control of the world is centralised - the ideas can be therefore supressed by that central power. Long story short - you are destined to fail by sabotage.
