    Any business the builds itself early in the blockchain is going to be ahead than 99.999% of businesses in the next 5+ years, quote me on this. Its like how the most successful businesses right now are able to capitalize on social media marketing.. Blockchain is the next step.

      Sorry but that does not make any sense at all. Blockchains are an amazing technology but that is not the same as saying everybody must conform or else.
      Some will use it as needed and others will not need it.

    To be clear, Blockchain does not "manage" trust, it eliminates the need for trust.

    • @mbharatm

      I prefer to think of it as "enables trust" between strangers. :)

    • @sammyb2407
      @sammyb2407 7 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      You're shifting your trust from the individual/business to the technology. The blockchain manages trust by standardizing it, but it does rely on the assumption that the information going into the blockchain is valid and reliable.

    • @petepittsburgh
      @petepittsburgh 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      What does "manage" mean? If you are meaning a person organizing, then no. But if you mean an algorithm organizing, then yes.

      Your shifting your trust to a technology that is like watching the Star Trek Next Generation and being a Borg. Its a mass connection of computers who all have the same data. If one fails they are out of luck. Instead of your employment application in the filing cabinet at Human Resources it will be on everyones system. Mass copies everywhere locked with cryptography unable to be opened except by the placer.
      Sort of like how your email is sent to you and not to everyone in the world. You have a specialized IP address it sends it to that the whole internet knows what it is but cant get into unless your a hacker lol. Your encryption will be your personal IP address but will be stored on every computer or phone. The only one able to get it is you but if you lose it you can go back and retrieve it from another systems data

    Bitcoin is exciting because it shows how cheap it can be. Bitcoin is better than currency in that you don’t have to be physically in the same place and, of course, for large transactions, currency can get pretty
    inconvenient.”

      @lawsonjames6305 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I think it is working. There may be other currencies like it that may be even better. But in the meantime, there’s a big industry around Bitcoin. - People have made fortunes off Bitcoin, some have lost money. It is volatile, but people make money off of volatility too.”

      When bitcoin currency is converted from currency into cash, that interface has to remain under some regulatory safeguards. I think the fact that within the bitcoin universe an algorithm replaces the function of the goverment …[that] is actually pretty cool.”

    • @handersonkroose3950
      @handersonkroose3950 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is not a speculative investment even though it is being used as such by other people. As Bitcoin network grows the value of Bitcoin grows. As people move into Bitcoin for payments and receipts they stop using US Dollars, Euros and Chinese Yuan which in the long-term devalues these currencies.

    • @anthonysmith5882

      Bitcoin is the beginning of something great: a currency without a government, something necessary and imperative. But I am not familiar with the specific product to assert whether it is the best potential setup. And we need a long time to establish confidence.

      When I first heard about Bitcoin, I thought it was impossible. How can you have a purely digital currency? Can’t I just copy your hard drive and have your bitcoins? I didn’t understand how that could be done, and then I looked into it and it was brilliant.”

    You could just put EVERYTHING without listing certain industries. But don't get overexcited, it will happen if we manage to solve main challenges of Blockchain:
    - Lack of privacy
    - The security model
    - Limited scalability
    - High costs
    - Hidden centrality
    - Lack of flexibility
    - Critical size

    • @farrcanalutube
      @farrcanalutube 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      huh? Privacy your a generated hash so a little unanimity, security?, only if you forgo due diligence same as any investment, scalability? the model is scalable, high cost? where from? hidden centrality? it is not it is decentralized Lack of flexibility? its rate of expansion would suggest otherwise critical size? it is designed to be of a certain size.
      would suggest looking through a few more clips or get going

      Tangle/IOTA solves most of the problems with blockchain.
      There are no miners/fees. It gets faster, not slower, as it scales up. It is secure even against quantum computers. It is highly flexible & decentralized. As far as I'm concerned, blockchain is outclassed at every turn & is obsolete as compared to tangle.
      Funny that tech is moving so fast that at the dawn of its entering the social consciousness, blockchain is already obsolete.

    But will the blockchan remove government at all?

    • @gregzeng
      @gregzeng 7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Blockchain will replace all government, and most management. coinmarketcap.com/
      762 crypto currencies atm.
      Etherium is creating more, via their "token" systems. www.ethereum.org/
      Eventually Etherium will replace Bitcoin (BTC). BTC is so slow, cannot upscale, has poor security, & very expensive overheads.

      Thanx, Greg, can you recommend any videos where this topic is discussed?

    • @gregzeng
      @gregzeng 7 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      It's all very advanced pure mathematics. Applied only between the few hundred top computer programmers.
      Use your audio podcast app. On Android, I use Podkicker Pro.
      Search "crypto" on the audio podcasts. There the coders chat on their alpha & beta releases of their projects before the "normals" ever get to know.
      The Cryptoverse
      World Crypto Network
      Crypto Voices
      Crypto-Gram Security Podcast
      TH-cam imho is for slow-learners. Experts use Google subtitles, & watch TH-cam at 200% the speed rate of "normals". My preferred web browser is Slimjet (a Chromium-based browser), with many add-ons: "Subtitles for TH-cam", & "Video Speed Controller". BTW: I'm a full time scientist, but living in this hospice, in the Australian Capital Territory, so I'm quite crippled & close-to-death.

    decentralise by centralising and consolidate everything to blockchain

    • @Maouww
      @Maouww 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I'm no expert, but blockchain isn't one thing. It's like the internet - it's not a single thing.
      On the internet, your computer sends a message to another computer, and they'll talk to each other. Everyone else is supposed to ignore the conversation, but just in case, the two computers talk in a secret language they choose together (called encryption). This is done so that evil people can't interrupt the conversation and mess around with what the two computers hear from each other - that's what a hacker will try to do.
      With blockchain, everyone hears everything that everyone has ever said (even if they're speaking in different languages). Because of this, if a hacker tries to mess with the conversation between two computers, everybody else will say "no, that's not what was said. look at our copy of your conversation". That's why it's considered decentralised - because if you want to mess with the conversation, you need to mess with EVERYBODY'S memory of the conversation.
      So if you use this for money:
      Currently, with banks: Only the bank has a memory of what's in your bank account (centralized)
      But with blockchain, everyone has a copy of your wallet written in secret language (decentralized) - so you don't need the bank and you don't need to pay bank fees, and you don't need the bank to verify anything for you because everyone else can verify for you if there's ever a disagreement.
      This is super simplified but hopefully it makes more sense.

    I'd like to know where the touch points between technology and morality are affected. The problem with the banking sector is that it is utterly corrupt. How will blockchain change this? There's so many holes in technology and the fact that blockchain is being developed with big bank funding tells me that we are just going from paper currency to electronic currency. We've already gone from metal currency to paper money in the 1900s with no effect on the vampire morality of the banking industry. How will changing the medium change the morality?

    • @spektred
      @spektred 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Banks most likely WILL develop their own blockchain technology using their own tokens, but for the first time people will have a choice to use banks or not. I think many people who are smart will choose not to, because who likes fees, and who likes someone else stealing the interest on YOUR money?

    • @nizamyigit8059
      @nizamyigit8059 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      what is morality? there is only a ledger. take it or leave it. fully not regulated. no ownership, no guarantess. volatility, not 90, 95 or 99%, it has 100% volatility. For the time being 100%speculative. Asset based system may bring in some morality though.

    • @mbharatm
      @mbharatm 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Nothing is foolproof. But crypto-currency is helping decentralize the concept of money. By giving power to the people to decide how to regulate value, it is making it more difficult for authority to make arbitrary decisions which affect lives.
      I'm sure that the morality of Bitcoin users will be as varied as humanity itself, since Morality can't (and shouldn't) be decided by technology. That's the *ONE* thing that we should step up and take entire responsibility for!

    • @farrcanalutube
      @farrcanalutube 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      well banks dont disclose their ledgers. If their ledgers were transparent by everyone banking with them then the world could be different. Bitcoin does not provide a greater level of trust it eliminates the need to be suspicious. Banks are morally retarded simply because their doors are closed and their people work on a "above your pay grade" which means that the board says it needs more profit and they have their people devise a way to do so, often by lobbying a governmental change or funding the companies that rate and verify them. then the C level go to the regional management team and explain do this we need more, regional management tell Sales managers and team leader do this who tell their sales people who tell the clients but no one from the upstairs down is told why whats in play just what to do and off they go. (see the movie "the big short" for a real easy way to understand what has gone on. Can you imagine what the bank would do if every person who traded with them or used them could see all the transactions and the ledger? cant hide from that. Yip Big banks will diversify, of course they will but with a slick "out of the box" system that they will manage for you and we will as the heard does go along and watch it pretend to be something its not or they will have no choice due to its success.

    Bc and e-coins enthusiasts are completing blind they 're don't getting that BC technology is a new way of intermediaries party, called block (middle man) and just upgrades the process, instead of direct asses or STP (straight through processing) is now per to per but there's something standing in between the Ps and that thing or things is the block or blocks so is the company that creates the blockchain.
    What would a bank start creating and investing in this technology ? Because they will make money of it... the hype around BC is that banks and other financials institution will end their middle man (the companies that provides prime brokerage services, clearing and custody firm will be out busines) and there is the go for many other companies....
    Blocchain will distrup for sure, but is no 100% true that middle man will end.
    The Bitcoin and others cryptos are just hot air, they will burst any time soon enough, the disruption relies that BC will turn up many many process into a very cheap one.

No banks will take over current crypto currencies,, the may bastardise the blockchain process internally to use some of it's many great features, but they would always want to 'control' it so it would not be the same as the many good cryptocurrencies out there. Decentralisation, speed, convenience, cost saving and giving people and businesses control over their money are some of the real benefits for everyone, eventually worldwide. Like much of the businesses of internet it cannot be stopped.

      Thanks for commenting! We have virtual quantum computers that have like 30 qubit processing power, so why hasn't anyone used those yet to mine BTC? Not asking to be a jerk. Just curious if you may know. And I guess your opinion is the same for ethereum?

    • @orangehatmusic225
      @orangehatmusic225 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Matthew Duckworth An emulated / virtual quantum computer does not have the processing power of an actual quantum computer as it's emulated on a classical binary system. So long story short an emulated quantum computer has less power than binary code for a classical system. You would have to have your quantum code on actual quantum hardware to get the actual benefits of quantum processing.

    The trouble is verifying the transaction when it is put into the blockchain. The reason the blockchain works for BitCoin is that the amount of coins is already set in the system. New coins can only be created by expending huge amounts of computer work into mining a block. How could you verify a product entering a supply chain is valid for example? The only way is to have a centralized validation system which breaks the philosophy of the blockchain.

      consider purse.io which is an electronic wallet what it does is allows bitcoin payments to be converted to dollars so bitcoin can be used to purchase things from amazon. it transacts the purchase and acts as the escrow until both parties are satisfied.When i send my bitcoin it can be coded to the exact thing that i want for example: a soft drink vending machine assesses its stock levels at the end of the day and creates a refill purchase order and pays with bitcoins. The transaction goes through but cremains in escrow until the vending machine receives its order. But say the drinks never come and a man swipes them from the drone that is dropping them off, the transaction is still in play for a period of time but as the bit coin is specific to the order it can not be used for anything else and after time will return to the vending machine as unclaimed and return to sender the vending machine receives its payment back

      We will have then quantum encryptions... and then those same quantum computers will need who knows how much years to decrypt them. Plus you must decrypt all at once on blockchain to put it down, which is really not possible.

      Point you simply cannot know ahead of time what data you will find behind the encryption.

      You don't need a college education to use blockchain. But yes, in general, we will need a more educated workforce because manual labor jobs are on the decline. The best solution will be to improve our K-12 education system and create better training programs that don't take as much time or money as a 4-year degree.
