The Comica CVM-VM30 is AMAZING! But... Why???

  • The Comica CVM-VM30 shotgun mic is an incredible microphone that does one clever thing that no other shotgun has ever done, which is include wireless transmission INSIDE of the microphone itself.
    This incredibly clever shift in capabilities of microphones lowers the barrier of entry for professional audio and I think that that's the best thing ever.

    Awesome video, dude. I've been considering switching from a handheld to either a lav or shotgun mic for my own channel, and this just convinced me to try out the CVM-VM30. I did the like and the sub and all that. Love the channel!

      Appreciate the positivity man. Always feels good.
      I know! So so clever. I’m still learning about how to balance the input gain and the output gain (as in, the gain on the mic and the gain on the receiver) but it’s absurdly clever and convenient.

    I also saw somebody hook it up to a second camera with a little extra cabling so you had synced audio from 2 cameras. Now that is a cool capability!

    I organically discovered Comica when setting up my podcast studio and damn... I hope they stay that hidden gem so they don't start inflating their prices. Since The XD and XU are amazing wireless lav systems and the XD-2 Pros now add onboard recording a la Rode Wireless 2 and DJI. Though apparently DJI has the best implementation of that out of the three mentioned. RODE I couldn't figure out how to get it to work, Comica was easy to get working along with DJI.

    Hey y'all. I just got the vm30 today and used it wirelessly with my Zoom H5 recorder. Depending on how I was holding the Zoom I was getting noticeable amounts of interference. Is there a work-around for this? Thanks.

    Could you please tell me what gain you used while shooting? I have been trying to figure mine out and I can still hear the air conditioner through my video with the gain at 2. And i have it plugged in to my phone.

    • @imnickfriend
      @imnickfriend  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d suggest bringing the gain up and then decreasing the sensitivity in camera

    • @imnickfriend
      @imnickfriend  18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I recommend setting it pretty low in-camera (between 5 and 10, say) and then adjust the gain on the mic to an acceptable level

      Yeah, but that’s kind of the point of the inbuilt transmitter. You don’t have to have something plugged into it.

      I appreciate the comment. But TH-cam isn’t a scoreboard. And it doesn’t have “right” or “wrong” ways. I’d ask that you see my method of content delivery as something that is just as valid as yours, even if you don’t like it. I don’t think that establishing dominance, establishing strength over another, or belittling an other creator is a productive method of community interactions.
      But I appreciate the comment.
