Damn heart issues, drug overdoses, and suicides. Most of those deaths from heart problems and suicides were most likely cause by steroid overuse for years. It's really sad.

Some of these were suicides, like Rick Rude.

Apparently, "Macho Man" died of a sudden heart attack while behind the wheel of his Jeep Cherokee.
The accident happened because the jeep started veering, and his wife grabbed the wheel to drive it off the road, and into a tree, instead of the oncoming lane of a major highway, where the jeep was veering.
Also, I read that Savage's heart attack was due to an aortic dissection, the same thing that killed actor John Ritter.

I think it's sad that when an athlete ruins his (her) life with drugs or alcohol there are waves of scorn, but when an actor or singer does the same thing we cry an ocean. I think Kerry von Erich's and Sherri Martel's lives were every bit as valuable as Phillip Seymour Hoffman's or Amy Winehouse's, but the public's reactions are very different. It's too bad that anyone succumbs to that poison, and I lament their passing equally.

The average life span for most of these guys in this video seems to be 40-50, that is sad, and the prevalence of heart attacks & cancer or diabetes for such young men, is undoubtedly related to steroids & obesity, plus the destructive lifestyle of wrestlers, which means non stop travelling, no sleep, constant use of pain killers, as a result of all the physical abuse their body takes on a regular basis, and add to that alcohol & drugs, and there you go, really really sad, no money in the world, is worth dying at 40 ( and the people that got rich the most from all of this, are the promoters, that never step foot in the ring.....)

I don't want to sound mean, but many of these deaths are actually drug-related.
I think that heart attacks are rare in people under 50, yet there are whole lot of them in wrestling. I believe 90% of these are from drug use or years of drug abuse wrecking their internal organs, thus bringing on the heart attack.
Many of the older ones (60+) died from things which people that age die from, but with few exceptions, most died from drug related causes or suicide.
Also, in the cases of Sherri and Miss Elizabeth, I heard that their overdoses were deliberate, so wouldn't that then be classified as "suicide".

Randy "Macho Man" Savage's heart attack was a little different to many of the others.
Apparently, it had nothing to do with lifestyle.
I heard that it was an aortic dissection, the same thing that killed John Ritter.
It is often genetic and a birth defect. It is often undiagnosed and the person is like a ticking time bomb.
So Savage could have died at any time from it in all his years. He was fortunate to get to the age he did.
It happened when he was driving his car with his wife. But he had the heart attack at the wheel, and died. The car crashed because it started to veer into the opposite lane, and his wife turned the wheel and drove it into a tree. So the accident didn't kill him, the heart attack did.
Savage's wife was credited with saving lives by driving the car away from traffic, but couldn't save Randy, who was dead behind the wheel.

I sat down and did an interview with Junkyard Dog two weeks before he was killed. He was such a motivational speaker. The night after the show he had stayed around after we had packed up and called us into the dressing room. One by one he spoke to us as if he had known us all of our lives. There wasn't a dry eye in the room. Such a great person. RIP JYD.

Yes, this is VERY sad! Similar statistics for bodybuilders, but they don't have to endure so much Physical abuse that wrestlers endure. I often wished I had a body like Kerry Von Erick, but when I read how TRAGIC his life was, and that he was arrested many times for drugs, and finally committing SUICIDE, I just THANK GOD that I did not have to live like that! The pressure, the travel, the physical abuse, etc. God help us all. I'll be 63 in a few days, and though I probably with NEVER bench press 500 or wrestle in Madison Square Garden, I thank GOD for a good long life and for GOOD health, and plan to live ANOTHER 60 plus years. Thank you JESUS.

Randy Savage died in a car accident?

    • @dhenderson1810
      @dhenderson1810 6 ปีที่แล้ว +23

His car accident was caused by him having a heart attack. At first, it seemed that he died on impact. But the coroner later ruled that he was dead at the wheel of the car, and it subsequently crashed.
His wife, who was in the passenger, actually crashed the car, to stop it veering into oncoming traffic, as the car did when Savage died.
BTW, Savage's heart attack wasn't considered "drug related". It was due to a medical condition where he had a hole in his heart (it's the same type that John Ritter died from).
