Jose Gonzalez got away with murder because Tony Atlas knew it he saw it and he said it because in the episode of Dark Side Of The Ring Tony said that he saw Jose had a towel on his hand and asked Brody to talk with him about business and he heard a scream and saw Brody hurt and Jose holding the knife so you know that selfdefense act was played out so it's pretty clear that Jose got away with murder it will continue to hunt him

In reality, the doctor told Tony that they took care of the stab wounds and also repaired his liver damage, so he should be fine. Then, they told Tony that he must leave the hospital so his friend can "rest", and while Tony was gone, Brody, whom the doctor said was stable, somehow died. What transpired after Tony was gone - when Brody was left unguarded ......something very diabolical happed to Brody after Tony left (not that the stabbing itself wasn't totally diabolical) hospital happened, and then we lost the toughest, baddest, most exciting wrestler that ever lived, a wife lost her husband and a young boy lost his pops that loved him...and that really sucks

A travesty what happened to Brody. Every wrestler should have boycotted going to Puerto Rico until justice was served either in court or out of court

@@hellothere-b6q Barry Buchanan (Recon) told me himself that they booked him down there and he went. When he got there, the hotel room they put him in had a large wet bloodstain on the carpet. Barry immediately went back to the airport, presented his round-trip ticket they had sent him, and returned to the States. I told him I didn't blame him a bit. I would have done the VERY same thing.

You also forgot that Brody didn’t wanna lose to Jose and beat Jose in the ring for real he beat the hell out of him and left him bloody and humiliated infront of his promotion fans and family and not as a match but for real in the ring. months before and humiliated Jose and that is why he took revenge, still a sad story but gives more context then just money bc it was about humiliation and revenge.

Bobby Fulton of the Fantastics told how in a car, Brody turned around and slapped or his his partner Tommy Rogers and then pretty much dared him to do something. Harley Race said that Brody was the type that would run over you if you let him. He also told Brody if he went to Puerto Rico with that attitude. he wouldn't be coming back. Bobby Heenan told how Brody would no show to get back at a promoter, not worrying if cost his opponent money that he needed. Ronny Garvin said that Brody was a bully and that if you push people too far at some point, they will hit back. I'm not saying what happened to him was justified, but he contributed to it.

Certainly not an excuse but an explanation which could be used as a mitigation factor at trial.
Contrary to the narrative, Bruiser was known as a bully who pushed fellow wrestlers around and refused to job for anyone. Further, he spared no effort to strike an opponent often leaving them bruised or bleeding even though such things were not part of the script. He was also known for wanting extra $$$ in his pay check after a show. Thus he had many fall outs with other wrestlers and promoters.
Again, none of this is an excuse. Just an explanation for a possible source of mitigation at trial.
Tony Atlas and Dutch Mantell knew in advance when the trial was to take place. They did not have to wait for the warrants to be executed in order to appear at trial. They could have flown to San Juan, stayed at a hotel, and provide testimonial evidence to the Commonwealth. Since none was provided by anyone to the prosecutors the jury had no choice but to render a not guilty verdict.

The truth of the matter is that not many people liked Brody. And that's why the show went on the night of his murder.

I remember first learning about him in late July or August of that year because I read Pro Wrestling Illiterated, The Wrestler, Inside Wrestling and a few other magazines religiously. Not long after that I was lucky enough to add 3 of his matches to my video collection and he's been one my favorite wrestlers of all time since. Thankfully with TH-cam I've been able to watch so much more of his work. All the best to his family, friends and fans💪🏼
