  • This webinar was recorded live on June 7, 2023, by the National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE) in collaboration with Rob Theriault CCP(f), BHSc, M.E.T.
Description: Jeremy Bailenson, the founding Director of the Virtual Human Interaction Lab at Stanford University, wrote that a “VR experience is often better understood not as a media experience, but as an actual experience, with the attendant results for our behavior.”
Virtual reality is still in its early days as educational technology. However, unlike any other technology, it’s the only one that enables learning in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains. It can be used to supplement lab training or for case-based learning in didactic teaching or distance learning. In this session, Rob will provide examples of how the superpowers of VR, presence, context, and agency, can enable skills acquisition, critical thinking, and soft skills development and facilitate learning that would otherwise, in the analog world, be dangerous, difficult, impossible, impractical, inappropriate, counterproductive or expensive.
