    the first solo i learned to play. about 13 yeara ago now. man i remember how sore my fingers were because i wasn't used to bending strings.
    your books had the greatest influence on my leadplaying than anything else i did after.

      haha, don't I know it... I just went a couple months without playing and came back to this project, recording all these old solos from MLG, and it ripped my fingers up pretty good. Took about 3 days to be able to play again!

    Thanks to your book solo guitar, at the age of 15 I became a member of a metal band and one of the best guitarists in my city!
    Everything that was in that book, 22 years ago, to this day comes in handy for me! I think this is the best method to learn everything you need.
    It's incredibly cool to realize that now, thanks to technology, I can express my respect for you and your contribution to the education of guitarists.

    I also bought the DVD - The Sound & The Story & am always on the look out for anything stamped Troy Stetina! The book The Very Best of Ozzy Osbourne is an excellent study of some of the best guitarists ever! Thanks for sharing your insights & knowledge with us! @@TroyStetinaMusic yeah dude - Babylon still comes out of my Floyd in one shape or another! The rhythm guitar track on To The Stage if memory serves, was a tough one to get under my fingers. It's the rhythm with those relentless pedal tones that I still have to practice regularly or my hand sync is jacked. The rhythm for Crazy Train wrecked me!
      The Very Best of Ozzy Osbourne is also an excellent study of some of the best ever! It's also the only Killer of Giants study I've ever seen. I have just about your entire catalog except the left handed & Thrash. Wherever I am I always look for the Troy Stetina name or logo & if I don't have it - I snag it. You definitely have the best teaching method & without Fretboard Mastery my ear wouldn't be anywhere near what it is today. Thanks man! Keep doing the good stuff!🤘😁🤘

      Finished rythm vol1 and a bit of vol2, solo was a bit more difficult, so based on your recomendations I’ve started with a teacher, more in blues than metal 😉. I’m still working the method from to time and I hope one day I’ll be able to play Babylon! I wish you a lot of success with the re-activation, for me the fact to have the books, backing tracks and a method was a real differentiator... and also in my favorite music style, of course!

    • @TroyStetinaMusic
      @TroyStetinaMusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      very good! It's good to have a variety of material to practice, and you can be progressing on blues and work in these methods at the same time. Quite closely related, actually

    Oh God man...I HAD your book!!!
    I was a South American beginner guitar player back in the late 80s/early 90s, and I remember it had a red guitar against a black background on the cover plus possibly a cassette (or was it already a CD?) with audio examples, and both your playing and your TONE on it were amazing!!
    This very solo...after decades of both music playing and listening...still stands clearly in my memory, specially the breakdown (happening here at 0:37) which was such a revelation back then, and come to think of it, all of those techniques are STILL the foundation of the way I play all these decades later!
    So happy to have come across this YT clip today, and also THANK YOU very much Troy for setting my on my path to guitar enjoyment all those years ago!
    All the best, J.- 🙌🏻

    • @brettshawver2983
      @brettshawver2983 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would get: Metal Rhythm Guitar Volumes 1 & 2. Without knowing where you are playing wise as these will take you from beginner to stage performer. I would also get: Metal Lead Guitar Volumes 1 & 2. Team them up & start with both volume 1's. The book "Fretboard Mastery" is also excellent. This will help you develop your ear as well as your fretboard knowledge.
      You can always check out his website:
      www.troystetina.com
      Depending on your playing level you can adjust to get exactly what you need. The book "Speed Mechanics For Lead Guitar" is a must have! This is the go to bible for super sonic shred-a-liciousness! There's a lot of guys shredding out there because they went through this & spent time in the woodshed getting this stuff under their fingers. Check out his website & keep doing the good stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🤘😁🤘

    • @TroyStetinaMusic
      @TroyStetinaMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, pick harmonics are tricky. It's a matter of slightly touching, or really brushing against, the string with your thumbe or finger as you pick it. Good luck!

    At 17 I'd have been ultra focused on playing fast and just hitting the notes, and have terrible timing.
    Now, I'd rather play it with perfect groove and nice bends and vibrato, and a confident and consistent hand, even if it means I must play at half tempo

He showed all elaborate details that you wrote in this book. It's amazing to see Troy replayed this song and give a tutorial. Thank you!
