Trendkill and NOLA, Phil was who he fucking was, and all that anger and bitterness at himself and at the world came straight through the music. People can take Cowboys and Vulgar if they want, but mid-90s Phil was a force to be reckoned with. It's unfortunate that typically people's darkest moments lead to them making their best music, but that's the nature of the beast. Talk about "channeling hate to productive."

Just talking about them tonight. Ole 747 in Arlington. And the small intimate crowd as Dime tore up the stage with his fun band Gasoline and my old other fav band from Midland..Pumpjack. Never was there EVER a dull moment at 747. It was a rinky dink club at the back of a hotel...but then there was ...who we shall never forget...old Abb Craig . The owner of Joes Garage where Pantera pretty much started. Glad I was there.

Today’s music scene is (for the most part) absolute garbage. Don’t get me wrong, there are some new & incredible bands out there that I love, but there are strong elements of sincerity and levels of controlled insanity that are missing when compared to 90’s metal and music in general of that particular era. Too many people nowadays are trying too hard to competitively imitate everyone else or lazily slap something together on Ableton for the next generic hit on Spotify. With the surge of accessible technology it feels like the really talented musicians are a dying breed in the senseless noise of the digital age.
