I remember having a great day on the day Dime got shot. Was prancing around after getting a sweet pay packet, and I went to a friend's store and he had this look on his face and told me what had happened, fucking heartbroken isn't the word. Life isn't perfect folks, this shit can come out of left field at any time. Get over grudges, never leave friends behind and all of that shit. My two favorite New Orleans bands by far are Eyehategod and Crowbar. It's got to be the oppressive heat or something that can create such sludgy music. Time Heals nothing by Crowbar and Take as needed for pain by Eyehategod got me thru some dark ass times and still get play regularly to this day. Do yourself a favor buy them both!
Holly Janik you wouldn't want to be here in the summertime when it's 99° and 100% humidity. Haha! They're prolly on an east coast tour now or after the dates they're doing out your way. I'm only about 3 hrs from Nashville where almost any bands go thru if they don't come thru Knoxville. If for some reason they skip TN we're only 3hrs from Atlanta GA too.
+Nate Brenneman I'm a big Doom/sludge/stoner fan but I will never get the appeal of Eyehategod. People praise them up and down but it is complete and total garble to me, nothing at all interesting or good. Crowbar is my rock though! NONE HEAVIER
The show Kirk is talking about with the little snowflakes was at the American Theatre in St Louis Missouri I was at that show I had those little styrofoam snowflakes in my scalp, my shoes in my pockets, somehow that stuff even managed to get in my shorts I had on!
Badsss best memory of Dime with me was he was at the tattoo bar in Ft. An that foosball table lol anbtje painting next to it
I met him last week in Providence RI. Crowbar played with Killswitch Engage and he was walking out of a bar with his wife. Called out his name and he stopped and walked over and talked like we knew eachother for years
Hell yeah. I plug straight into a Mesa Boogie Mark IV on the lead channel with a noise gate. No fancy effects loops or anything. Guess I'm old school like Kirk
Man he was not fucking shot 6 times... Vinnie did an interview about what happened... He even spoke to his brother before he died, they have a tattoo on the underside of the arm, they called it a reset button, if something was too bogus or fucked up they were to press it together to reset the situation Vinnie said he came to darrell's side and his brother said to vinnie reset bro and then he died... The online stories are mixing false information with here say, saying he was shot twice in the head then three in the chest and then again point blank third time in the head...... +MrTomkat030 where is that interview that Vinnie said he talked to Dime before he died about the reset button, cause I've never heard that. I heard Vinnie booked the hell out of the way and was nowhere near dime.
+downfan1 I've never heard of that either. I actually watched an interview with Vinnie on TH-cam only yesterday and he says the last thing Dime said was.. Van Halen. Just before they started the gig. It was apparently something that they used to say before a performance.
6wm Yeah that's the same thing Vinnie has said in a few interviews that that was the last thing he said to him "van halen" which for them meant to rock the house and go nuts, or something like that. I know Vinnie did have a tattoo of a reset button but I never heard that story.
Yes nvr forget ride came...told me the news huge snowstorm that morning brother took his life 8 days and 8yrs later....lives forever altered......and for the record he said wat he did ... we would forgive....if Phil took responsibility... he's exactly right, you cant blame anyone but the shooter, who seen that coming? ya phil may have said some things and did his own thing but who in there wildest dream thought some nut would come out of knowwere and do what he did, dam.............
I didn’t know Kirk knew dimebag Darrell and used Randall amplifiers because of him! Everyone that went seperate routes in life found different projects. And now there’s news about the whole thing. What about what went through the mind of the guy who killed dimebag? Crowbar and down yeah okay. But the whole propuse or reason of how or why that all happen was massive the the time when I found out dime had died.
They toured together in the 90s... Kirk is the Hulk in the Vulgar Videos.. Phil produced at least one of Crowbars albums and also wore a Crowbar shirt in the I'm Broken music video...

I'm here because i love to play music for you all. and after the show i went up to phil and said hey if dime and vinny are only in it for the money why are they sitting at home and you're here making money with superjoint? and he didnt say anything back he mumbled under his breath and walked away from me. @@Hallowedpoint85 Phil mentioned that after is overdose, he fell into depression and isolated himself for the fear that his band would judge him, it was his mistake that he made to not get that surgery and unfortunately the drug use to manage that pain caused it. This guy doesn’t do interviews anymore but he’s always acted like a cringy foreign metal dude. “You just play your music you don’t let the music play you” ugh lol
It’s Phil’s fault. He knew that Pantera had a crazy cult following and said, “Vince and Dime deserve to be hurt very badly” 10 days before he was shot in an interview. One of many things Phil said.
I like these New Orleans guys a lot. there are so chill and friendly
reza even phil, tho he looks like hes gonna kill you
Got to be my favorite scene.
Honest, simple and no sellout band in 30 years as it gets...I've meet KIrk a few times, very easy going dude.
I love Kirk. He’s the type of guy who’d make a great “best friend.” Had the honor of meeting him a few years ago and he’s just so genuine.
Dime brought me here! 🤘 Rest in power brother 💔💔
4:09 Kirks voice went normal for a second and not raspy. LMFAO
Kinda sounded like Rick from pawn stars xD
Kirk is a wonderful human being...
I love Kirk Windstein's' down-to-earth attitude about it all.
Dimebag will live in our hearts and through his awesome music. We love you Dimebag. R.I.P brother Dimebag. 💝🎶🎸🎵

Yes! So much truth in this comment. Both bands also put on an excellent show as well. Seeing Crowbar November 9th!
Holly Janik hell yeah! Where you seeing them at? What city? Because if they're coming close to here(knoxville TN) I want to see them.
+Nate Brenneman I live in Denver, actually. That's where I'm seeing them. Shit, I wish I lived in Tennessee though. I love the south.
Holly Janik you wouldn't want to be here in the summertime when it's 99° and 100% humidity. Haha! They're prolly on an east coast tour now or after the dates they're doing out your way. I saw Crowbar at one of their first gigs in Thibodaux Louisiana back in the early 90s. Was simply incredible.
It's Alrosa 15 years to the minute as I'm watching this. Saw Crowbar opening for Pantera in 1994 in Helsinki.
Gone but never forgotten. We will never forger RIP DLA A VPA
Kirk always has cool guitars. Everything from SG's, Dean ML's, Explorers and now that really cool Ibanez Destroyer.
He has an Ibanez Iceman as well, and some Dean guitars.
4:09 kirk accidentally turns off the metalzone that boosts his voice
@10:09 the screen flashes green! You know what Dime's favorite color was right? Dime Slime Green! Miss you Dime.
"you play the music, you don't let the music play you". Like a 80's drug commercial
Just the best
Awesome interview.
Kirk is such a kick ass dude
If I were a guitarist, I would try to emulate Kirk ‘s sound as close as possible. It’s heavy, sludgy, chunky and has balls of steel.
WRATH Midwest Metal 🤘
Long Live Dime 🤘
kirk has two voices lol gruff and normal.
ben smith Fuck yeah haha
The grungy voice is his real voice. I met him at a show and he talks like that for real. Even to his wife
he should do voiceover work
Yep lol. I met him at a Crowbar show and he really sounds like that. He's also a very nice dude.
It's from how he's sung for decades. That's all damage. Old interviews he used to sound more like he talks in his higher ranges.
