Looking at your reaction to the ending teared me up as well. Was alone in the room, digesting what just happened, it was heavy stuff. Depressed for days haha. At first I was like, did I make the right choice killing Reed, but I just didnt want Songbird end up being their puppet again.
Yeah it seemed wrong to send Songbird back no matter how I tried to justify it. It’s just something my street kid character would never do. So even if V got nothing in return at least she stayed true to herself.
Just found your channel and I can only recommend to you to try the different version of the ending where you betray Songbird as well. It is completely different and absolutely worth the play. You will also only be able to see the entire picture after you've played both versions.

Man, watching you analyze everything on the fly, you're so damn smart. And you're spot on about everything also. You're exactly right, Songbird was the only one fighting for something real... Even if she had died as soon as you put her on that shuttle, at least she would of died free. I can't say the same about Reed or anyone else, they were all just puppets of the system. Of all the playthroughs I've seen you were probably more in control of the situation than anyone else. I made the same choice you did but I was just going on emotion. I wasn't sure if I had made the right choice at the time, or if there even was a right choice. But I felt in my gut that I could live with the decision I had made.
Somehow youtube recommended me this so long after I binged watched playthroughs after I played the game myself. We ended the game exactly the same. And your expressed thoughts align with my own reasoning. I also ended up playing all the other ends just to see where they went with it, but even looking back I was confident i made the right choice my first time. Banger of a game. The credits hit extra hard
I really appreciate a streamer who finishes Phantom Liberty and just sits and soaks in the credits, isn't rushing to finish. Glad you saw So Mi's situation the way I did. It's crazy when you DO give her up. It makes V look so pathetic, they literally say "take her, but please... just don't let me die", as though they can't see anywhere past their own fear of dying at this point, and would kick a puppy off a bridge if it meant a cure. Even Johnny calls V a Judas with a cold "decided how you're gonna spend your thirty pieces of silver?" Overall, unless I'm making a build specifically designed around the crazy powerful weapon or cyberdeck you unlock from the other ending, I ALWAYS send So Mi to the moon, EVERY TIME. Also, that Quantum Tuner cyberware So Mi sends you from the moon is pretty great for a sandevistan build, anyway, so it's not a total loss in terms of loot.
I agree that Songbird knew that V could give her to Reed if she admitted she never had the cure for V. I totally was on So Mi's side after all She was like V in the same way and I just couldn't push her back into the hell she was forced to endure for all those years. I, like you EPKongroo, love Cp2077 more than any game I have ever played. I watched your stream of the last job with Kerry, There is one other before doing the end game job, won't say though it would be a spoiler. I had a very strong sense of melancholy when Kerry's final quest completed. But I still play Cyberpunk, as there is still endless content with the air drops and the vehicle deliveries and just some other content I discovered exploring Dogtown some more.
When you say "Read was going to betray Songbird" @55:30, what did you mean by that exactly? When exactly does Reed betray songbird? He has made it VERY obvious his intentions the entire way. Songbird has ALWAYS been his #1 and ONLY priority, even over himself. One can be confused that it feels like he's prioritizing the FIA over her safety, but he's not, because he sees the two as one and the same. I dunno, Reed wears his heart on his sleeve for better or worse. I think painting him as a liar or manipulator is not seeing the man who he really is.
Reed might have good intentions, but in the end of the day, if V or Songbird would trust Reed to do what's best for her, he would betray that trust without doubt. That's what I believe was meant by betrayal. Also, let's be completely honest here, Reed is lying to himself through and through and it's highlighted by the ending gained by betray SoMi and grant her final wish, where after everything Reed contacts V and tells them that he was wrong and V was right.
Just a slightly different perspective on Reed. In his head his duty is to his country. He would push friendships aside but not for is own interest but for what he believes is correct. He has essentially been "brainwashed" to serve above everything. If you pick the other ending and one of the sub endings you will see him questioning himself and his own existence and even Johnny comments that "poor bastard might take his own life" since all his ideals get shattered. Reed just hasn't woken up yet.

LOL, I think 99% of people choose Judy over River, even the female gamers. I can't blame them, Judy is what makes this game special for me. She's definitely one of my top waifus.
I'm a bit late to the party, but I 100% agree with you in regard to your rationalization to continue to help Songbird. She's in the exact same position as we are as V. I dicked over a few people in my playthrough trying to survive, so I can't hate on her for doing the same. Johnny was right; what she did commands respect.
