I remember this performance like it was yesterday. Lillias White literally stole the stage in those few minutes. Matthew Broderick's best show ever! My favorite play and song performance all time. Thanks so much for posting!!

After seeing the clip of the most recent revival (with Daniel Radcliffe and Darren Criss), there is NO comparison with the utter joy this revival has. They may have upped the choreography of The ensemble on the newer revival but that doesn't eclipse the truly heart-stopping arrangement and performances in this production. I was entertained by the newer revival, but given chills and thrills by this production.

Agree 100%! I was exposed to this version 1st, then when the 2nd revival came I was excited to see what they did with it. I was kinda disappointed when I learned they went back to the original arrangements, even though the choreo was great it just really lacked the heart that this production had.

Matthew Broderick always great, Lillias White always amazing - I've seen her in SO many Broadway shows - including several times in DreamGirls!

You do realize recording technology has existed for a long time before TH-cam and that there was a bootlegging community even back then???
