    Hello everyone, that was a breathtaking maiden flight, the last landing was really bad because the plane was heavy and really fast, but I will do better next time, thank you for watching and please share the video if you like it 😊

    With slung engines, when you add trust they have a tendency to cause a pitch up attitude, couple that with an aft cg making your elevator useless... Great landing.

    For a new build and first flight, I think you did really well. You are still learning some key test flight challenges, as all "pilots" do.
    But like any newborn, we all just want to see them take their first steps, now.
    All aircraft designs, proven or not, should always have static and dynamic Center of Gravity carried out before the first test flight.
    Another thing you should do is create a test flight card, just like real airplane companies do with their pilots.
    Start with the basics, such as runway "flight", no flaps. 50% power. Observe. Repeat with 75 and 100% power.
    Then runway flight, with flaps. Observe. Repeat as above.
    I realize this is risky on a grass field. With such a delicate landing gear System, might be worth the time to explore where a asphalt runway exists. This helps determine imbalance issues and rotation aerodynamics. You did get lucky that the airplane did not stall on the first flight takeoff.
    The actual flights you accomplished showed your RC Pilot skills very well. But as you discovered, there were technical C of G issues. You partially solved them, but then compounded them by adding a camera, which during test flight verification of the flight envelope is a very bad idea. Your still trying to iron out basic flight characteristics and it could have proven to be counter productive.
    I'm sure you'll solve the issues you discovered. You show promise as a potential Aeronautical engineer. If you are seriously considering that path, seek out a local university for student support. You might be surprised at who volunteers. Some professors might even get involved.
    I can tell you based on real experience, flying the B-737 is one of the most docile and easy airplanes to fly. Yet it is very maneuverable and responds well pilot control in all flight modes.
    The one handicap you have is the lack of full Fowler flaps like the real ones have. They create immense amounts of lift and bleed (airflow) energy very well during landing. But given your power to weight ratio, you should be okay. A touch more airspeed as you have discovered helps maintain control.
    This is true from the Classic 737-200 series to the current 700/900 models. Landing with full flaps is a thrill when landing into airports with runways less than 4,500 long and fully loaded.
    The 200's were a little less nimble than the 400/500's. I've never flown the 700/900's, but told they are essentially the same, just less pilot workload.
    Good luck and have a nice flight!

      thank you very much for those Precious Information, I will definitely be more serious about the CG next time, and the weight was a problem too, I will do better for sure,

    What a wonderful surprise this morning Ramy, waking up to find your maiden flight video 👍...Looks Teriffic mate 👍🛩, albeit tail heavy...unfortunately no other way to check correct CG on a scratch build than airborne...Brilliant Airmanship to bring it back safely though.🏆 Next days attempt was much better 👍 but like you said "She's heavy"...shame about the fast & hard landing too, 😢 hope you haven't damaged it real bad ? Please try to keep it in 1 piece will ya !! lol, I'm really looking forward to watching more vids of this aircraft. 👍🛩 Keep up the great work mate 🛩👍

    • @RamyRC
      @RamyRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dear James, I really love reading your comments :D thank you very much,
      the damage was not bad, I will be more careful next time but she is very touchy and can't fly slow with those small wings,
      I will do better next time :D

    • @jamesellis5445
      @jamesellis5445 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers Ramy, I really appreciate that mate 👍...You know I'm only messing with ya with the whole "keep it in 1 piece will ya" bit...it's good to see you're a man that's not easily triggered 👍 as for the small wing area, I would imagine she'd like to fly fast to generate sufficient lift...I'm curious as to how much extra lift your flaps are creating and did you deploy them on that landing ? 👍🛩

    • @jamesellis5445
      @jamesellis5445 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My bad mate 👎, on closer inspection of the video on my small screen with my aging eyesight, I did notice your flaps were down...sorry about that pal. 👍🛩...with your skill, @ least it didn't crash n 🔥

    • @RamyRC
      @RamyRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thanks James, sorry for the late reply as always, yes the flaps are fully deployed on every landing without them it will be tricky to land it

    • @jamesellis5445
      @jamesellis5445 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Ramy, No problems about late replies mate 👍 all good...It was just my theory as to why your landing was fast, but after closer inspection of video I realized you were probably wanting to get her down quickly due to decreasing power ? It looked hairy on that last turn to final, as I guess you already know. 👍🛩

  • @BrianPhillipsRC
    @BrianPhillipsRC 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    High alpha 737 MAX!!!
    I still can't hardly believe you saved her what looked like a few times! I'm so glad she has so much power, or you would have been SCREWED!!! That thing sounds like a real airliner. The EDF's sound just like a turbine! Loved that you still got a few low passes.
    When will you be fixing the nose gear for another remained???
    P.S. You were NUTS to go vertical !!!!!!!!!!

    • @RamyRC
      @RamyRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hahaha thanks Brian, I was very stupid to do that vertical, when I saw it falling I thought that it's the end, and my heart jumped out of my chest, but then the motors saved her again, I'm happy with those EDF's
      I will repair the damage soon and wait for the weather again coz it's raining :/

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When a plane is scary to fly, it will tend to dissuade one from flying it... I have a few planes that are cool, but I just don't like the stress level, and don't want to risk losing them. It seems like this plane seems might fall into that category, but I know you can do it! I know you already know these things, but it still looked like it was flying tail heavy in the last clip. I wonder if the gopro was acting like another centrally located elevator??? Please don't take any of these comments or thoughts as second guessing - I KNOW you are very skilled at flying and building these things, and you probably have already thought about it...I just want to see this plane soar like I think it should be able to!!!How is it that it ended up so heavy? I watched your build video and it seemed like you kept your construction very light. Isn't it crazy how fast weight adds up when you want awesome scale details!!!

  • @aaron.t438
    @aaron.t438 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    as a scratch builder myself, it suck to know there's a crack on the aircraft as there might be some more damage in the fuselage structure itself that you might not be able to see. Anyways, it's very lucky of you to get her down in 1 piece even it's tail heavy, good job man

    Always make it extra nose heavy if you are not sure, better to be nose heavy than tail heavy. And if you make doors or hatches try to make rounded corners to reduce stress. Awesome build and flight!

    As soon as you took off it looked tail heavy. When you said it felt tail heavy I started to pray for you. Tail heavy is the worst. You did the right thing keeping up your speed and nose down during landing. If you had not come in fast you would of stalled. And what was really great was you nailed the landing!

    Hi Ramy, great job on the build, looks like you built it without any plans at all! Do you think the flaps and spoilers are effective? You could save weight by having them fixed and removing the associated radio gear etc, the weight saving may have a greater benefit (at the expense of funky scale features!) Im sure you know this too, but the 737 (and most airliners) have a pitch up moment when you apply thrust (and conversely when you reduce thrust) due to the underslung engines, it may be it appears tail heavy due to this flight characteristic- you might be able to apply some mixing with your radio to offset this. Anyway I'm sure you know all this already, great model, happy flying!

    • @RamyRC
      @RamyRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      hello there, actually I used an autocad drawings and of course many pictures on this build,
      the flaps are very impotent for landing and you're right about everything you said, I will be using some fiberglass in the next builds and I'll make sure to save some weight.
      thanks for your comment, Cheers

    To make it fly steadily, you must keep the ground plane at maximum speed and lower the flap slowly. So the plane will have time to get up from the ground and it will be very stable. You also have to be sweet with the controls. In the video you were too abrupt in your turn in some cases, especially when you raise and lower the plane. You see in the video that you've been stalling several times. However, you are very good at building them and in any case very good at explaining how to take measures to scale the model. Compliments!!! Excellent Video !!!

    A crack in the fuselage?!! That plane'd be out of service if it was a real 737 carrying people. The first damaged MAX-series 737 i've seen. Good it's just an RC model instead of the real stuff. Anyway awesome flying of that plane and you managed to land it when it was most tail heavy at the maiden flight. And i LOVE the 737 series from boeing. Everything from the 737-100 to the 737-MAX series. 737 is the good stuff. Keep it up! :D

      Hello, Ramy RC. I live in Tokyo, Japan. B737 I will show it to Ramy RC once it is completed. The first flight is scary, is not it?
      Please tell us the ESC of Qantas B 737 and the motor KV, what is the battery cell?
      Battery How many milliamperes do you use?
      I would like to refer to it.
      From now on, I would appreciate your favor.

    Did you make this one out of the foam board as well? That was stressful to watch.... I thought for sure she was going to stall in ya.
    Nice save!

    I hope the passengers have three or four vomit bags each. That aircraft deserves a proper runway :) Great work! You should install cameras in there so we can see the "cab view".

    I wouldn't think it could fly because 5kg is very heavy.
    I think the max is 3kg for this size. What do you think to decreaze the weight? replace depron foam by glass or carbon fiber?

    • @RamyRC
      @RamyRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks Franck, actually the last flight was more than 6 kilos you can tell from the takeoff, next project I will use carbon fiber.

    Great looking plane again. That first maiden was scary even for me lol. Grass field doesn't help much it really slow down the take off speed. I never like flying edf off grass. It almost seem as if it was under power but guess that due to the grass.
    Wonder if your battery is moving around inside and throwing of the cg ?
    At lease its still pretty much in tack Ramy.

    • @RamyRC
      @RamyRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks man, unfortunately grass is the only runway we have in here, the thrust is more than enough and the batteries were fitted good, the problem is the CG and the weight !

    Recommended
    A video on making a smaller airliner for beginnners to intermediate
    A320 or a319 maybe and under 100cm long ($250 or less) probably doesnt need unnecessary flaps and air brake , that would make it more simple
    Would love to see that!!!

    Hi there as all ways you make nice planes and as you I had my Hart in my mouth a few times as you keeped trying to keep it from crashing. what was the cg on the plane and did the batterys seem to move in flight. It looked like you were also trying to fight the wind wich I think we all know is not easy to do. look forward to see the next flight and see what improvements you make to it.

    • @RamyRC
      @RamyRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thanks Stephan, yes the problem was the CG it was tail heavy and it was a stressful flight for me,
      better flights soon ;)
