As an aircraft mechanic for Eastern Airlines this is an amazing feat of recreating this L1011. Excellent workmanship!!! Alot of memories !

My first flight was on Eastern Airlines back when I was seven years old, now I'm 65. Then flew a few more times with them to PR. They would serve delicious foods and food was plenty, and it was free. Eastern Airlines will always be remembered in mind and heart.
My very first flight was on an L-1011 and it's always had a special place in my memories, especially the engine configuration. This model is simply amazing. It seems as if every detail has been cared for and that bright aluminum finish is stunning. The paint scheme is pristine. Hyper-realistic all the way around. Can't say enough but this should do it. Well done!
Thank you so much for building this... I worked for Eastern for 25 years, all the way to the last day. To see this magnificent model beautifully made, then see it actually fly, seriously brought tears to my eyes. It was a beautiful aircraft and a reminder of a wonderful time of my life with Eastern. Thank you for the sweet memories.
I remember Eastern deliberately flying to our small city where I grew up, which was a hub for another airline that also disappeared for awhile. I remember flying EA from Florida to PR for duty with the Marines, and once, on layover, being asked for help by some travellers. You know why! I got a kick out of that. A new Eastern and a new Piedmont are flying again, but it is not the same.
My dad worked for Eastern until the very end, too. MIA
When I lived in Orlando, FL for nearly a year in 1979, I'd go and park across the freeway from MCO (Orlando International Airport) and watch the airliners jumbo's fly very low overhead coming in for landing, including many Eastern L-1011's, along with Delta's TriStars. Also saw a number of DC-10's of various airliners coming in. It was a rather scary time as that's when the DC-10's were having a lot of safety issues. Flew in Delta's L-1011 (was my first time in a real jumbo) several times, both flights were unforgettable. Was amazed how roomy it was in the economy class and the unforgettable sound of those Roll Royce engines during taxing and takeoff.
Used to fly Eastern to my grandparents and land at Spartanburg, SC. That airport still used steps to exit the plane and I loved that as a kid.

I have to say that the model jet is really nice! The towing vehicle made for it completes the package. I just about fell off my chair when I watched it towing the plane onto the runway. Well done!
I love this! I have a thousand or more hours as copilot on the Eastern L-1011. Throughout South America and the US. This brings back so many great memories. She was a great airplane and easy to fly.
Its the same as with the cars nowadays. The stile and elegance disappeared.

To me, sounds so realistic. Like an actual jetliner taking off and in flight.

Shame things didn’t work out better for Lockheed in the commercial space. The world wasn’t ready for the Tri-Star, but it turns out we needed it and the aircraft that would have come after.
I worked on the real L-1011 in the early 1980's at Lockheed in Burbank California. I bought many parts to use in the manufacturing of the airplane. Great airplane, and great memories. 😊
We have one as a tribute to our former airline company and man I wish they would repair it and have it looking in a nicer state
Absolutely amazing! I remember seeing my first L-1011 at KLAX ‘73. It was an Eastern. Later flew on many, many DAL L-1011s. Loved to hear those RB211s spool up. I lived 3 Miles from LAX and could here them spool up at the gate from my house, under the right meteorological conditions!
Flew on a 1011 Tristar once in 1988, with TWA. It was fabulous and felt just as nice as a 747, I remember how impressed I was. As I was getting off the plane I was asking, "What kind of plane is this?".... Really neat to see an Eastern airliner, too.
I don't understand how this got any dislikes! People kill me these days! This thing is awesome! I've seen many realistic plane videos and not many of them have a working tug! A++ on this!
Wonderful, I've always loved L-1011 TriStars having last flown on one in 1990. It was sad when they were decommissioned. They were beautiful aircrafts.
I didn't believe these engineering marvels exist on this planet. Hats off to the passion and hard work behind all these. I would love to be there physically and witness the show with my eyes next time.

When we went to St Martin in the mid 80’s, from NY, I believe we flew in a Tristar, fabulous. Great model, wonderful to watch.
I flew the Airbus A300 throughout the islands when I was with Eastern. I think that was the plane that you were on.

The Lockheed Tristar have always been my favourite 3 Engine Planes next to the DC-10's & MD11's back then.
When up in the sky with nothing to compare it to, it looks like the real thing. So cool
Damn thing even has working spoilers. Great stuff, as a child I always loved the "1011's". We lived right under the departure track for NYC and could always tell the planes with the RR engines, and have loved that sound ever since.
Those TriStars used to fly in and out of RAF Bryce. I’m amazed at how clever people are to be able to build and fly an RC jet.
What a beautiful facsimile of the real thing, I flew for Eastern as an F/A from 1976 to 1989 and was fortunate enough to fly on the L-1011 out of my base San Juan PR and Miami. The L-1011 was my favorite out of the whole fleet.

From, the thumbnail picture of this video, and for example @10:09, this is, for the most part, a REAL airliner. A little small🤏 perhaps, but nevertheless, a real airliner. This is the best mini-recreation, (including the towing vehicle), complete with, airport terminal announcements, I've have ever witnessed👍👏👏!!!! And I'm happy to see it, in Eastern airlines, 'livery'.
I love the detail in the flaps and slats.
The takeoff, the landing is impressive for an rc hobby like this. Nicely done mate.

I was working at Logan Airport BOS in 1971 when EasternAirlines made their first, and it was a VIP flight/tour, flight around New England. I believe tat Frank Bormann, Eastern CEO was onboard.
I would love to see how this L1011 was built. L1011 was my last Eastern flight JFK-MIA 2/15/90.

Amazingly accurate model. The L1011 had a very unique engine sound, one of its trademarks. Would prefer to hear the RC model engines instead of the band and the singing.

I built the real ones in Palmdale CA. Only commercial passenger jumbo jet Lockheed made. Very proud of this plane.

I flew in a brand new Eastern L-1011 in 1973 on my way to Thailand during the Vietnam War as a young USAF F-4E fighter jet crew chief (mechanic). I was excited as the L-1011 was a revolutionary new design featuring a wide body fuselage. I remember it exhibited quite a bit of wing flex as it quickly accelerated down the runway and the wings began generating more and more lift. Gotta admit it was quite disconcerting looking out the window watching the wingtips rising up and up and up as we approached takeoff speed. Nice comfortable flight heading west from Atlanta as I remember. The L-1011 was quite an airplane!
I was in the USAF (in uniform) and was flying on one of these. I got invited to go visit the flight crew in the flight deck. They were wonderful aircraft.

Been so long I don't remember if I was in uniform or not, but probably was as I, and many others in my fighter jet wing and other fighter/bomber bases, were deployed to SEA under emergency war orders during Pres. Nixon's massive Linebacker I and II aerial war campaigns in 1972-73. In my case I spent a whopping 14 months TDY total time at Ubon RTAFB in Thailand and this was my 2nd or 3rd return flight.
@@Jimbo-in-Thailand Yes, I spent eight years at Kadena Air Base between two tours with the RF-4C and later the KC-135s. It wasn't uncommon to get invited onto the flight deck. How times have changed, especially after 9/11. One of the best flights, again while in uniform, was on a B747 that was being ferried. No other passengers except me. That airplane could flat get with it. An amazing launch. No noise abatement, just full power after turning onto the active. Still a remarkable memory after all these years.
@@Colorado_Native WOW 8 years/2 tours! None of us were awarded overseas "tour" status during Linebacker I and II. My DD-214 merely states "14 months SEA". And that's a reason I made 3 roundtrip flights during that extended TDY period. We had to 'rotate' home before the magical 179 day limit so the USAF wouldn't have to award us oveseas tour status. Oh well. Regarding big jets, my buddies and I were all excited as one flight we were supposed to fly home in the then fairly new gigantic C-5 Galaxy. Unfortunately, they were all grounded right before our departure as engines kept falling off the wings. I remember stopping through Kadena AFB and seeing some on the ramp. Still wish I could have flown on that massive behemoth. They used to fly to our base (SJAFB in North Carolina) and do touch and goes. A truly majestic aircraft that looked like it was flying in slow motion it was so huge. Flying on one of those would have been a truly unforgettable experience!😁
@@Jimbo-in-Thailand I know this is an old conversation, but, the C5! I worked as a truck driver, about 100 feet from the entrance gate at Westover Airbase in Chicopee, MA. I got to see the giants nearly daily sometimes, and it always made me tear up when I knew that the kids were leaving for somewhere "serious" on the globe, as they often left right from Westover for deployment.
On a side note: During the recent engine upgrade on those machines, it was reported in the local newspaper, that every single one in the fleet that was upgraded, had flown in and out of Westover. Kind of neat. And, you are correct, the look as if they are barely moving in the sky, even going the better part of 200 mph at the time! Cheers!

Germans are very good at this. You have got to see Ramey RC. He has made many beautiful rc planes, 777 X, cessna citation, gulfstream 650, airbus a350 xrb, 787 dreamliner, but dreamliner crashed. It takes him 5 to 6 months to build one of them puppies. You can watch this fella building all of his planes from scratch.

I was on the design team to put a Rolls Royce TAY engine in a 727 for FedEx. That fuselage S duct is a real brain twister. Great video!
I had a job flying a 727 years ago but turned it down because I didn’t want to live in NYC. Great looking airplane. I would like to correct something. You don’t request taxing with a tug pulling to the runway also talking to slow for ATC. Beautiful take off.
