I remember the 450 SLC and Roadster models in the 70s they were the ultimate car to have. You needed to be rich to afford one of those which were on par with a Ferrari or Porsche of the day. They were the main 3 cars of the time that everyone wanted
A 1978 W123 (250) has been my daily drive for the past six years. I still enjoy each and every journey driving her. She has never let me down and (with some bodywork sorted and TLC) continues to look immaculate. It is, without doubt, the greatest car I have ever owned.
Same here, my 1984 280CE has done over a million kilometres and, with a bit of effort to maintain appearance and proper servicing, is in fine condition. Never crashed, still has the original engine and transmission, though is hardly unique in that respect.
Nice! I have a 1979 240D. Engineered to drive and last for ever. I’m so blessed to have it. Nothing comes close. Best driving experience I’ve ever had.
I'm the lucky owner of a W 123 model, a 200 gasoline fuelled. Unless it's not (yet) in perfect conditions, it's a real pleasure to drive it. I luv it, indeed! In many ways, one of the latest genuine Mercedes, with nearly no plastics at all...

benz made some really nice cars over the years, but some of the stuff that were introduced in the late 60's and 70' even a few things during the 80's were used on north american vehicles, especially in the 50's, but were introduced as a one year option that are rare to find...reliable cars too. a little bit of a pain to work on,but if you looked and knew what you were doing no biggie... the diesels we had to install fuel heaters or they wouldn't start in winter, almost every diesel does though(here).in the winter some times a diesel isn't shut of for weeks, easier to let it sit running, cheaper too.
c32/c55/clk55 203x2,209x...drive 32, 209, c55 renntech supercharger..99k miles..complete.. have all electronics fr.donor..lasy..sorry my zkey is broken, almost forgot..love vid, love mb, but this music...omg..
Interestting viddos but How have I somehow missed the illustrious w124 range ,possibly the best of the Mercs ,especially the 300 engined cars which also fought off the "oppositions" Yuppie 5 series.
W124 was the best Mercedes Benz ever made till now.. I think they have their swing back. I have 63 190SL a 2003 C240 , and a 2012 CLA AMG 63.. Mercedes Benz are solid. As the pyramids in Egypt
I'm intrigued by the remark about the new diagonal swing axle "which allowed safe road handling", implying an admission that the previous axle (a true swing axle) was not safe. I was astonished when I realised how recently MB were still using swing axles which are definitely not safe if things get hot in a corner or in hard braking, the camber changes are lethal. Triumph stopped using swing axles after the MK1 GT6 and Mk 1 Vitesse, with good reason. The Triumph 2000 / 2500 has semi trailing arms and handled well. According to this MB didn't get to semi trailing arm IRS until 1976, Triumph had it in 1963. Of course Jaguar had the best IRS from 1961. I think the Triumph 2000 and Jaguars were far superior designs (and better looking than almost anything. The problem was bodies made by pressed steel Fisher, from rust.
The low pivot swing axles were a development from the, admittedly potentially lethal, early swing axles. By lowering the pivot lobation to below the diff, and making both axles pivot from the same midpoint most of the issues were solved, especially when the proportioning valve was added. These were engineering compromises, sure, but they did remove the deadly handling characteristics linked to lift-off oversteer, such as thise wild camber changer. Sway bars also helped. Swing axles were mostly gone by the end of 1968, replaced with a more modern semi-trailing arm arrangement, which prevailed until the late 1980's, except for the proper 5 link arrangement on small and mid ranges, what later became the C and E classes. The only holdouts of the old suspension was the 6.3 built until 1981.
I guess since, in part one, you glossed over any history of MB with Adolf Hitler, you sure got your guns out with the G-class. It was NOT the first off road car, not by decades.
Somehow my uncle has a 1964 190SL its titled 1964 was registered in California originally titled in Oregon... I've researched and have not found any 1964 190SL's.
you all prolly dont give a damn but does any of you know a way to log back into an instagram account?? I stupidly forgot the account password. I would appreciate any help you can give me!
@Clay Jairo Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
COO Pay. . . . . LOL LOL LOL!!! Do they really say it that way in Europe or other parts of the world??? The "E" on the end of words is silent, except 4 the word "THE" and then the "E" makes the schwa sound like uh. I found it very annoying to repetatively keep hearing a mispronunciation of a word. UGH!!!
it's a french word idiot,so your half baked pronunciation laws don't apply,it is the french word for 'to cut' then has an E at the end with an acute above it to denote past-tense,giving a meaning like 'been cut' ,and yes all E's with an acute above are pronounced A .the americans make the whole worlds' eyebrows raise when they march about getting everything wrong in the loudest way possible, LOL LOL LOL!!! coup is where pigeons live
I really love this car .. especially w140 ❤❤❤❤

They are calling it a "swing axle", but it isn't. Its actually a "trailing arm" design...
W115 had disc brakes as standard, meanwhile a Renault Clio RS in 2023 still has drum brakes in the back....
The R107 SLs were produced for 18 years not 8 years.

Honestly, ray croal has it right! No American should lecture others on pronunciation!
The awkward American narration grates.
