- On April 27, 1924, the Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft factory driver Christian Werner records the first major race victory for the new Mercedes 2-litre racing car at the iconic Targa Florio - the most fascinating race of that time!
Now, to celebrate its 100th anniversary, Mercedes-Benz Classic is on a mission to restore this legendary vehicle to its former glory. Wanting to get the 100-year-old racing car back on the road in its original condition the specialists from the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center in Stuttgart are digging deep into the archive, preserving what's salvageable and reproducing missing parts as original as possible using historic documents.
Will this iconic race car conquer the Targa Florio in 2024 again 100 years after its first victory?

The passion involve in all the members of the team at Mercedes Benz to bring back such an amazing car after 100 years is absolutely noticeable. I drive Mercedes Benz cars now for about 20 years (one C Class and three A Class during this period of my life) and I'm so proud to put my trust in your company. I few years ago I visited the Mercedes Benz Museum in Stuttgart and it was something worth to see with your own eyes. This restoration symbolise the values of Mercedes Benz and let me be clear, I feel that those values represent me as well. Congratulations to all the group of specialists, mechanics, technicians and director of the project for reaching the success and also to Mercedes Benz Media for sharing it. This is Mercedes Benz. Yes. Just cut the dramatic music and the dramatically but so artificially lighted shots of the people and it will be much better, much more natural and much more exciting to follow. Let the project and the people talk for themselves. That would be much better. The Mona Lisa does not need makeup.

👍👌👏 Oh WOW, simply fantastic! Extremely well done (video and work). What an incredibly advanced engine for 1924! Almost unreal how well this 100 year old car sounds abd runs. The limitations had only been the tires in those days. The complete team did a really, really great and very impressive job. Congratulations! 🎉 As a long time big and big Mercedes fan (1.90cm) 😁 I'm sooo proud to see and hear this wonderful automobile running again. To be honest: I got very emotional = I swear that somebody was peeling onions right behind me!
2) After watching this great video I unfortunately looked at my expensive but very poor quality Schrempp crap (= Schrempp Schrott) W210 standing outside. Although always maintained properly it's rusting from inside out, never had a water tight trunk, peeling off clear coat, cracked dashboard, blind "eyes" etc.p.p.. It's really sad to see something like this. Mercedes- Benz, unfortunately you have come a long and no good way since the good old days (before 1995). I drove W114/115, W123 and W124 before I unfortunately bought a Mercedes W210. One of the biggest and expensive mistakes in my life, sigh.
Nevertheless of course: Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing this great video.
