Love this song. Guys, the song is a trilogy. You need to listen to the other 2 parts. Its like reading a third of a book and trying to decipher what's going on.
I went through a tremendous Tool phase from Undertow to Lateralus. The later was my favorite concert ever. The opening act was Tricky, a British rapper later known as the pioneer of trip hop. When Tool performed this song Tricky joined them. At the beginning he starts chanting some voodoo. This scared the living shit out of me. The lighting made his face glow. I had just puffed my first blunt in my life, so that didn't help. To me, it looked like Tricky was staring right at, ready to grab me and eat my soul. Finally, this is a great song, I just dont want to hear it again anytime soon...😮
Lyrics: I have come curiously close to the end, though Beneath my self-indulgent pitiful hole Defeated, I concede and move closer I may find comfort here I may find peace within the emptiness How pitiful It's calling me (calling me) It's calling me (calling me) It's calling me (calling me) It's calling me And in my darkest moment, fetal and weeping The moon tells me a secret, a confidant As full and bright as I am This light is not my own and A million light reflections pass over me The source is bright and endless She resuscitates the hopeless Without her, we are lifeless satellites drifting And as I pull my head out, I am without one doubt Don't want to be down here soothing my narcissism I must crucify the ego before it's far too late I pray the light lifts me out Before I pine away (pine away) Before I pine away (pine away) Before I pine away (pine away) Before I pine away So crucify the ego, before it's far too late And leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical And you will come to find that we are all one mind Capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable So let the light touch you So let the words spill through And let them pass right through Bringing out our hope and reason Before we pine away (pine away) Before we pine away (pine away) Before we pine away (pine away) Before we pine away
This one took several listens before it really started growing on me. Now it's one of my very favorites. Such a unique vibe. It's also extra special when you follow along with the lyrics. It's just a special, special song.
Not a lot of bands and music where you have the bass right at the forefront. It's usually supporting the drums and holding a song up from the bottom but it makes all the difference here.
Thanks SAD! I understand Sifa’s point cause sometimes when I listen I’m ready to jump to the vocals but other times when I need to zone out, it’s perfect. I told y’all already this is my favorites song (on most days-cause you know how it is). I think it’s cause it makes me feel like I’m connecting to my divine feminine or my ancestors. This whole album though. You’ve heard Laterlus the song which has that familiar ending that continied through on this track’s fade out. I will post the lyrics in a separate comment for any who wish to have that accompaniment. Thanks again! 🫶🏻🫶🏻 Happy Independence Day!🇺🇸
The song Reflection is about the contemplation of suicide and how that's the wrong decision. Read the lyrics again with this in mind and the song will make sense.
Ikr, "Holy Trinity" my ass! These songs are not like each other, they dont add much to each other, they just happen to be placed in such order that fits the album better in opinion of the artist, just like all the other songs on all albums ever. Thats it, full stop. Stop overthinking.
Not true. This is my favorite song. I think I listened to the triad 10 times total. I’ve heard this song more than any other song in my life, without “context”

It's as opposite as you said. Took is the only music I've listened to that can't be played out. Each album is so different. The music vibrates with your being. I get tired of songs temporarily & I'll just get stuck on another one of their albums.
Not to be racist, but it's funny watching the white guy like break apart the song while the African girl just kinda sits there without a thought in her head lol
Taking into account when this was released, I quite liked this. The 6 min intro got a bit boring but not bad. My problem is when you hear more Tool. I think Keenan only ever wrote about 6 songs. He just rehashes them. For example, the guitar break, all the music in that is almost an exact replica from 10,000 days. Economically though it's great. You only need buy a couple of Tool's earlier albums and you have Keenan's complete catalogue, Perfect Circle and Puscifer included. They are all basically the same few songs. The 100% FAKE "tortured soul" vocals, whinging lyrics. Perhaps the most whinging person ever. Lyrics as sincere as Donald Trump! There are those that think he's a genius. There are those that think the earth is flat also😂 OK if you only ever hear the first few albums.
Seems we had a discussion awhile back about the douche factor of some of these front men and Maynards name came up repeatedly lol. I still think these guys are kinda like a King Crimson Jr. Musically I think they're damn good but I don't think I'd blink an eye if I heard they ditched Maynard and went instrumental. Or found less douchey frontman.
@@chazblitz I see them more as a heavy Floyd. They're not smart enough musicians to do some of the intricate stuff Crimson do. Get what you mean though Chaz.
What have you guys been listening to? Maybe you're not fans of Tool, fair enough. But the same six songs rehashed over decades? Not gonna get into an argument, I just spiral out of them. Give them another try. Best group of artists ever 🌀
I’m a Catholic so I have my differences with Maynard, but they scarcely compare to your confusing diatribe. Almost every song, Maynard tried something different, across the board. He’s always challenging his presentation, and delivery, with some weird, but interesting tones. But it’s all grounded, or related. You seem just to not like we here he’s coming from. I don’t like his presentation, but I can hear integrity in his voice. You, somehow, think he’s a fake grifter. As a long time fan, that’s a first for me! Kudos on being edgey
“Keep Going Spiral Out” 👁🌀🌀🌀🌀
one of the best songs ever writen !

HAWKMAN
Lyrics:
I have come curiously close to the end, though
Beneath my self-indulgent pitiful hole
Defeated, I concede and move closer
I may find comfort here
I may find peace within the emptiness
How pitiful
It's calling me (calling me)
It's calling me (calling me)
It's calling me (calling me)
It's calling me
And in my darkest moment, fetal and weeping
The moon tells me a secret, a confidant
As full and bright as I am
This light is not my own and
A million light reflections pass over me
The source is bright and endless
She resuscitates the hopeless
Without her, we are lifeless satellites drifting
And as I pull my head out, I am without one doubt
Don't want to be down here soothing my narcissism
I must crucify the ego before it's far too late
I pray the light lifts me out
Before I pine away (pine away)
Before I pine away (pine away)
Before I pine away (pine away)
Before I pine away
So crucify the ego, before it's far too late
And leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical
And you will come to find that we are all one mind
Capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable
So let the light touch you
So let the words spill through
And let them pass right through
Bringing out our hope and reason
Before we pine away (pine away)
Before we pine away (pine away)
Before we pine away (pine away)
Before we pine away
❤️
Masterpiece
One of my favorite Tool songs
I think the long build up was time of reflection before Maynard sings about what he is reflecting on
31 i grew up with my parent's jamming this all the time good memories great music seen them live in 2017
The best band of my lifetime. #DannyCareyforever#Toolforever.

Try to listen in this order cause its 3 songs in one
. 1.Disposition. 2. Reflection. 3. Triad.
Love your B.O.C. Shirt ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks a lot Mike!
You feel their songs way after over. The journey.
Do a tool Tuesday series and go through every album! You will see why they are known the way they are.
Hi Friends it’s been awhile since I have seen a Tool reaction. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hay, hope you enjoyed!
Love 🎉 for the fam sifa and dan
😘
One of the best songs for mushrooms
Tool played out LOL 30 years later, their music is still relevant and the best on earth! 🐐
For sure!

Happy Independence Day!🇺🇸
Happy 4th to you Amber, thanks!
How were you able to play whole song without getting a strike?
We got demonitiezed but not blocked
The song Reflection is about the contemplation of suicide and how that's the wrong decision. Read the lyrics again with this in mind and the song will make sense.
Bahaha...she doesn't put up with your shit... Great stuff
Plain??? 😂😂😂. This song is top three IMO, most reactions leave thus one out. But it's perfection.
This song can't be heard without disposition and triad
I listen to this all the time without listening to the others. So sick of everyone saying this. It's overblown and ridiculous

Obviously it can. 🤷🏻♂️
Then what did they just hear?

Hmm. Heavy. Or what? Cool, Tool. 😎🥶 btw, gesundheit, S. 🤧🤒

Oh no! You missed like most of it! Forgiveness for not knowing, but I want a re-do. Y’all seem so genuine and deserve the TRIAD. New sub.
It's as opposite as you said.
Took is the only music I've listened to that can't be played out. Each album is so different. The music vibrates with your being. I get tired of songs temporarily & I'll just get stuck on another one of their albums.
this song is not safe for ADHD
Yea this is badass but part of a better intro
Not to be racist, but it's funny watching the white guy like break apart the song while the African girl just kinda sits there without a thought in her head lol
Not racist, just foolish of you to stereotype. The African girl also voiced her thoughts and feelings at the end of the song. Thanks for watching!

The live versions intro is a lot more engaging. Maynard actually plays a little melody on a guitar it’s wild!
