The whirlwind outfit change scene captures how the memories of your life swirl around in your head. Perfectly weaved together movie. Unbelievably amazing work. Rocketman is an example of entertainment that has elevated itself to art.
Another great set of interviews. Thank you for your passion for film making. You a,ways seem to pull something from the interviews that is exciting. Thanks.
Barbara Wells for him to still be working at 72 and to be doing his biggest tour of his life at this age is purely lucky and amazing!!! In Australia the shows sold out so quickly they had to add more shows later in the year and I'm so grateful to have tickets
When I went to the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road tour in L.A. in January of 2019, it was the most intriguing tour I’ve ever been on. Elton was the greatest performer ever. Also the colour of the suit was great. He inspires me to have confidence, bravery, and affection to the ones I love and love me. Thank you Elton and Taron. - Max
FT: How long did it take you to come up with your posting name? And, did you care if people took you (and what you have to say) seriously? Just curious.
I had seen “Rocketman” several times and am definitely looking forward to the digital and DVD/Blu-Ray releases soon...Sir Elton’s music 🎶 will live on forever ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love how they made eltons memory to a visual effect that everyone floated as elton he would love watching it and as a fan listening to tarons version of crocodile rock after the movie you can feel that lift in your heart every time!
I was blessed enough to be on stage 1 foot away Elton in Las Vegas while he was playing Saturday Nights Alright for Fighting...He was very kind to allow us to be part of his show!!!
Love love love Dexter Fletcher!! 2 pair of eyeglasses and all lol!! Cannot wait for this movie!! He should direct a Jagger bio next IMO!! #Rocketman #BohemianRhapsody
Such an incredible movie! I’ve seen Elton in concert twice, once while he was in the throws of his addiction, and the other when he was sober. I love how they end the movie showing his “happily ever after”! He is so deserving of that, and it’s so heartening to see it!!❤️❤️
I loved the movie, I love Elton, Taron was marvelous, and these interviews are terrific. Just want to point out, though, that two actors mention how I'm Still Standing means something different to them now. I get that--the movie used the meaning of the song to depict how Elton felt after rehab and all. But the actual song was recorded by Elton before he ever did rehab, and, of course, we have to take into account that Bernie wrote the lyrics to all these songs. So, while the director did a marvelous job of interweaving the songs into the movie and Elton's life, that part is all creative license. It's not like--Oh, now I get what that song means!
Good point. Thanks for the info. Yes, most of us forget that ALL of Elton's songs are BERNIE'S words. He is a poet. And, Bernie has said that it all happened pretty much the way the movie depicts YOUR SONG. Bernie gives Elton the words, and Elton adds the music -- pretty quickly.
Okay but serious question: why is it that they’re always interviewing Taron, Dexter, Richard and Bryce but not Jamie who played Bernie Taupin? I’d even argue that he had a bigger role in this film than Richard Madden and yet he’s never interviewed...
This was done in Cannes where Jamie wasn't present because he had just had a baby. And most of the press was done around the same time so he was away for most of it.
I listened to a podcast in which Jamie discussed that he was on his way to Cannes when his wife had an emergency related to her pregnancy. Apparently, it was a harrowing few days for his family.
The R rating was weird cause half the cursing was British words and I don’t remember much of anything else other than the drugs (and the fact that some people are still weird about gays love scenes-which don’t go beyond making out, btw).
Its rated 15 here in the uk meaning no one under the age of 15 which is quite a shock to be fair considering the subject of drug use include in the movie past movies of even mild drug use hsve been rated 18 here in the uk!
Barbara Wells it’s a 15 in England but it is definitely a learning experience for children. I wouldn’t say children under the age of 8 or 9 unless they understand what it all means. I’m 13 and I watched with my parents because I understand all of the scenes about cocaine and drugs etc, and my 9 year old brother has watched it too. But I would recommend closing there eyes for some scenes😂
Kevin is what makes performers not want to die during interviews...they always get asked the same questions all day long and you can tell it wears on them (even the most jovial people) at times. They don’t have that issue with Kevin because he’s such a fan of movies and movie-MAKING that it makes people excited to talk about their work. Just awesome.
I only realized moments ago knew him as an actor, something he said triggered my memory - looked him up to confirm he was in fact Soap in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (the movie that kinda kickstarted my whole British gangster film obsession, sigh)...he does make a wonderful director
I really hope Dexter at least gets nominated for a best director BAFTA in 2020 for this film 👍if Taron or Richard dont get nominated for any awards come award season i will be very mad!
*Dexter Fletcher 2 Minutes before the interview* "My glasses? I cant find them!' "quick someone help' "seriously i go on in 2 minutes!!!!' Here use these!! "thanks"
Bryce is mistaken. In the song "The Bitch is Back," she is NOT the Bitch. Elton (and Bernie) have said that ELTON is the Bitch. Actually, one of Bernie's wives called Elton "the Bitch." The way Bernie tells it, Elton had been away and, when he returned, Bernie's wife at the time said, "The bitch is back." (No one, including Elton, denies that Elton did not always have the best temperament.)
I have to ask because I live in America... Does the rating of a movie change with each country that it's released in? And is the movie, Rocketman, Rated R because of Americans being spineless and not being able to handle real life without crying about it? I watch a lot of UK shows and I see how free will and amazing their sense of humor is compared to America. Americans just can't handle it like the UK does. Will it have a different rating in the UK? But, I am so looking forward to this movie! Elton John's music played a huge role in my childhood and through the years. I am a big fan! And I have no doubts whatsoever of Taron not being able to fill those shoes! He already has an amazing singing voice and the guy is a terrific actor! I'm already going to say and predict that there are going to be and better be some major awards given to Taron and the rest of the cast, writers, director, etc... for this movie.
I can't speak to what's going on in the UK, but yes the rating totally changes depending on the country. E.g. in Germany, Rocketman is FSK 12, which means that people aged 12 and up can see it on their own (and people 6+ can see it if accompanied by a parent I think). As a general rule of thumb, German ratings tend to be higher than American ratings when based on violence and lower than American ratings when based on sex/nudity. Also, the rating system does not at all depend on the severity or frequency of swear words in Germany, tbh the amount Americans care about that has always been kinda hilarious to me :D But yeah, there are definitely some cultural differences there.

Does anyone else feel like Taron literally sparkles when he smiles?
indeed. he certainly puts a twinkle in my eye ;]
Yes! That smile is a Gift from God and Taron should use it as much as possible. 😊
macattack423 Dude,Taron always sparkles!

Best interviewer ever. He really gets the actors so excited to talk about their movies.
Jesse Thau Agreed.
Make sure you see this movie. Even if you know nothing about Elton John it'll be a good introduction.

I was wondering if anyone else noticed it

This mature R rated musical fantasy movie is gonna be fantastic as hell
cute!! :D ;D
yeah, but not as fantastic as the greatest album, Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy
