Meteor 350 and interceptor 650 owner here. The meteor is a far better heavy traffic commuter, and gets ridden far more often than the interceptor. Doesn't mess up your shoes as well because of the heel shifter. You're right, the interceptor has more oomph, but you can't squeeze it all in heavy traffic, can you? Interceptor has more power for highway speeds but barely, imho, and it's also too cramped for longer rides, and the seat is terrible. For highway involving one or more day trips, i always go for other options other than the interceptor. Nice bike, but any of the 350 variants will make a better commuter and for longer trips better 60 or more hp, wind protection and more leg room. For me, the 350 platform is a clear winner

@@breadgarlichouse2265 do whatever you like, is your money. All I'm saying, is that it depends on what you want to do with it. Want the one and only bike between the two? Better go for the interceptor. Can afford both? Meteor is a better city commuter. Where do you want to go 160 km/h, by the way? It it's in the track, go for something else. In the city? Impossible. In the highway? Then go for something else as well.
Fwiw, both bikes are relatively slow. Meteor is slower, but in the heavy city traffic, you just can't tell the difference anyways.

20bhp versus 47bhp is more than double. I prefer the look of the 350 Royal Enfield range to the Interceptor but as you say the Interceptor is far better on the highway. The mostly 110kph highway Australia speed limits would stretch the Hunter’s limits especially for extended periods. For a great looking urban bike it’s hard to go past a Royal Enfield 350 but for a purely practical urban bike you can’t beat a motor scooter. Most have generous luggage capacity, nothing beats an automatic in heavy traffic, you don’t cop the heat from the engine or exhaust sitting in traffic and you get better weather protection than what the Enfield offers on those rainy days. Enjoyed this video👍.

You make a good point with the "bigger and better" - I currently drive an 883cc Harley but mostly drive in my urban 3 sq mile city - it's actually a little too powerful. I have to always stick to 1st or 2nd gear to not break the speed limits (30kmh in most areas, 50 on the bigger roads) and the battery actually drains because I don't drive it enough for its demand. I'm seriously thinking of getting an Enfield and I'm looking at the 350 and 650 you compare above - and gearing more towards the 350 because of both the price, lovely looks, and improved handling which is ideal for our narrow roads and tight bends/roundabouts (that the Harley sometimes finds tricky). Your video review helps. Thanks.

I am a proud rider of Hunter 350 from September 2022, did couple of long rides as well. Very satisfied with the light weight body. Easy to maneuver in heavy traffic & the seat height being low ensures the vehicle is very stable in high speed lean. One more thing is the fuel efficiency is pretty high being the same J series engine compared to Meteor or Classis Reborn. I have come up with 38+ kms/L in Calcutta traffic & around 40+ kms/L with pillion in Indian highways. One issues definitely is in summer the heat kind of hits your legs. One big point is the engine is so smooth along with the gear ratio that there is absolutely no vibration. Definitely a must buy for people of my height 5 ft 7inch.

THey are rather different engines. The 349cc is a long stroke single cylinder.. The 650 twin has a shorter stroke in relation to bore size.. It will rev a little quicker and get full power at 7000 rpm instead of 6000 rpm for the Hunter.. Though both bikes are a bit neutered stock.. The 650 just needs a less restrictive air filter and exhaust .. and with a remap you can get 20% more power on the back wheel.
In the UK a company is developing a new camshaft for the 350cc engine,, which unlocks a lot of power from that engine. A Hunter with 24hp and 30Nm would be a little more "fun".

    I keep looking at both.
I think most of the time if you rode to the same destination on each bike you would get there at more or less the same time.
The extra power only comes in when you want to over take on country roads but it never really buys you that much time.
The weight difference is significant and i can easily flat foot and manhandle the hunter.
As much as i like the interceptor i think it might put my back out shoving on and off the garden. And i probably wouldn't ride any faster.
So I'm leaning towards the hunter atm

Agree.. but not because of the seat, I think the problem is the frame, the back part to be specific, I think a couple more inches on the back would have been more visually appealing.. Making the back wheel more separated to the frame.. if you look similar bikes like the triumph street twin (similar in design) it is more visually appealing for that reason.. there is a space between the back wheel and the frame, it makes it look lighter, more "sportive"..sorry for my English.

My interceptor is the minimum level of performance I expect from a road going motorcycle. Mostly commute on it and its been absolutely reliable over the past couple of years. The '60's styling is very good. I've ridden a 350 (meteor) but found I was wringing its neck the whole time in city traffic. If you have decades of big bike experience the 350's will probably be too feeble.
Conversely, I've punted bikes with twice the interceptors capacity in city traffic everyday for over a million kilometres and never thought they were overkill, perhaps it goes both ways?
