personally, I have found the best defense for hiking is having a walking stick or staff, mostly as a dog defense, basically to keep unleashed dogs from running up and jumping on me or otherwise.... anyways, it is a frequent event so I always make one or bring one for a hike most of the time. I just point the stick out at them when they run up and that usually stops them or if not I can push them off. I have encountered some snippy dogs before, but mostly they are ok but I dont appreciate wild dogs coming up and wiping their nose on me or jumping on me. besides that, as a woman I would recommend the stick, and pepper spray, and even a whistle, but that is mostly for signalling help if lost or injured. I always bring a knife and a folding saw, but that is usually for tasks, such as getting materials for projects or fire back at home, or to make a walking stick. I dont think you really need a firearm for hiking, unless in wild animal country or someplace seriously dangerous, or if hunting.
Pepper spray is more than adequate. Statistically, carrying a gun makes a person less safe, just as bringing a dog makes one less safe around bears. But of course, you’ll ignore that and stay with your incorrect gut.
Hello 👋 Taryn, greetings from Northern California. Thank you for sharing this informative video. You did a fine job. You brought some great points to be aware of. The best to you and your Fiancee. Always stay safe out there. 😮 😊
Wonderful.... might I make a suggestion on your carry position? If youre going to get into it with someone, it's alot of grappling and that will be hard to get to. It's also right where someone could get to it if you ARE grappling and they're literally right there and have just as much access to it as you do... move it to the 3 o'clock position and you can use your body to put between the badguy and the pew pew so you can get an accurate draw... stay safe
Pepper spray, a knife and a gun? Wow, hiking as a solo female sure is different in the USA than Norway. I just bring my things. I do bring a knife, but that's because I like to whittle.
It’s beautiful ! However, it depends on the country and the place ! At the moment, in some countries, it is hunting (September until April or May) but for the spring and summer yes ! 👏 🤍🤍🌳💚
Your fingers in front of the barrel made me nervous The closer to civilization the closer to weirdos Glad your equipped proud of you Stay strong stay safe 👍 stay outdoors
The letting people know where you are as a great thing that you’re doing so is carrying the gun. Smart girl as long as you’re doing training with the gun practice will make you capable of defending yourself.

Great advice! Thank you for sharing
I'm glad you conceal carry and that it is your third tier of defense. Thank you for being open and honest about your security.
That wasn’t a spiderweb - that was a communal caterpillar nest.
Great that you're carrying but never put a body part in front of the business end of your firearm.
That's a wonderful hiking adventure Taryn. Fantastic scenery and great production!
Very responsible and wise carrying a gun with you also the awareness looking around you this is some really great advise. Thank you

Thank you!
Thank you for your kind words!
Gorgeous, your narration and overall video quality are amazing my friend!
Thank you so much!
In England we are not allowed to carry pepper spray. Would a box cutter be some use, any thoughts?
a box cutter? why not a bowie knife?
Pepper gel is probably better than spray as it is less likely to have blow back to your eyes
Great tip thanks for sharing

Thank you for the tip!
Dogs also help if your not aware or don’t want to be. 🧘♀️
Definitely feels less scary with a pup around.
Dogs in bear country make a person less safe, just as carrying a gun does, statistically.
Good tips, nicely done!
Thanks!

There’s a lot of craziness going on right now. I hope to make it to Norway some day soon. I even named my dog Oslo
"God created all men, but Samuel Colt made them equal." Good on ya girl.

I know right. I usually feel safer by myself in the woods than walking a city street
Never go anywhere unfamiliar?
Until you’re comfortable enough to venture out
wow, this was a shocking gear list!
be safe :)
Short and sweet!
