    Just a thought, you guys really might consider including the commentators names in your blurb, above, especially since they never seem to acknowledge themselves (which is actually kind of classy).
    That Lecher guy can PLAY, very consistent, great decisions, excellent execution, (nice mechanical classic stroke) and obviously very focused. That breakout of the four (rock speed, especially), and safe off the eight (again, touch) were VERY well executed (wayyy beyond my pay grade). He keeps up THAT level of play, he could definitely be a top finisher here.
    Oh, and the shot at 5:17, in my opinion, he COULD have gotten off the rail, when the one announcer said he couldn't, in more than one way (rail first, spin/throw, but BOTH of those options lower the potting percentage fairly significantly, rail first from there is pretty sporty....one cardinal rule...if you don't MAKE the ball, you don't continue...miss the pot, and it had better be a solid two way, again very difficult on that particular shot/table layout. The main thing I took away from that and the couple of shots following, is these guys know how to immediately get right back into excellent position from significantly out of it.....I am very good at the opposite, unfortunately...meaning starting in good position, ending badly out of it.
    8:04...bummer, when you get MORE action than you were intending, that roll REALLY straightened out, and if he's like me, before the shot he's saying DON'T do this to himself, and his subconscious takes to heart, DO THIS.
    On the fidgety, misbehaving audience, I got related to me, by someone who was poised on the final shot to win the Australian snooker open many years ago, that he stood up from shot position to turn around and look at the board to make absolutely sure this was the winning point, and just at his stroke motion the camera guy directly on his shot line moved. He missed, cost him the match, and what he related to me as the problem is that he shouldn't have stood back up and it wouldn't have happened, NOT that the camera guy was at fault. I should have taken that to heart (think about it, as relating to attitude/performance improvement).

      When you have a miniscule angle like that at 5:17 you might be able to get off the rail, but your potting chances go much lower, not worth it

    Is the other commentator about 150,000 years old? He can barely talk and barely track the ball in play, and amazingly predicts position after the balls have already stopped rolling. Useless. Really annoying to listen to, I don't care how great a legend he may once have been...

    How can the commentator say the Diamond table is the best table in existence when pro-players like Rodney and Shane choose NOT to play on them and Steve Mizerak says Brunswick has the best table.

    • @christopherr6480
      @christopherr6480 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The old Brunswick tables made in America are nice but the new foreign made stuff is garbage. Diamond and olhausen are quality tables. Also, diamond sponsors the event so of course they will say that.

      I think you've been misinformed. Shane plays regularly in the Derby City Classic that uses exclusively Diamond tables. They are very fine tables. I don't know if they're better than Brunswicks, but these days, I'm pretty sure they're tighter.

    • @THEcreezable
      @THEcreezable 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are talking about a player who rarely makes mistakes, secondly he played that specific shot in a way that shows he didnt get full focus and concentration in it, altough he could get ahead 5:2. and 5:2 or 4:3 on that top top level can cost really badly. He could do way better there, every good pool player know that.

    • @MrJdsenior
      @MrJdsenior 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually, he was absolutely correct, it really wasn't. He didn't state it very well, I'll give you that, but it wasn't REALLY an unforced error, so he couldn't call it that. More, just a very weak safe (compared to a typical pro level result.) where at least one more was obviously available that could have been easily accomplished, like the long bank leave the commentator called out. The safe I would have attempted would have been to leave the short bank, balls near rails midway between the side and corner pockets (especially cue, hopefully ON the rail) which would be decent at my level, OK, but better than what was left on theirs.
      What he maybe should have said is it was not a very solid pro-level safety. At my level of pool (crap amateur league level, used to be significantly better, (maybe top 20% til I stopped playing/practicing every, definitely a few in that league that would have beaten me all day long though) that would have been an OK safety, but not all that great, even at that level...fairly easy to safety back, unlike the shaded (or locked up) middle of the table, often awkward multi-rail kicks pros usually leave, to which many other pros now STILL answer with excellent safties the overwhelming amount of time (post Efren).
      The pros typically play at stellar levels, and that shot DEFINITELY was not stellar (I'm writing this before I watched the result, and I'm betting the answering shot was BAD from that "safe" position, likely a MUCH more solid safe (watched it before I posted this, then watched the return shot, and YEAH, see what I mean...much more difficult "speed touch, and accurate rock direction" safety to execute than the original guy had, and superbly done. And the comment wasn't bias...bias would be saying something different about the shot had the other player made it, as he precisely called out good shot on a later safety by that same player ( 10:37 )and I've never seen this commentator do that, though he is a bit pro-Efren, like most every announcer out there. True for MANY pool players, including the pros, when he's NOT their opponent.
      I just saw Pagulayan smile, eyes fully involved, on a ridiculously low percentage long table kick/carom/bank full table length (IIRC) shot Efren made in a one pocket pro "TV" match that could have very easily cost Alex the match. At one time the pro players also voted him their favorite player. People just like Efren's humble #1 in world (at one time, at many games, including 3 cushion billiards, even a master level chess player, still very formidable at any pool game, especially one pocket, many pros favorite game) attitude...usually just smiles when he misses, then you almost always see him pick up the balls and reset the shot one to several times post match to "lock it in" as a make, not a miss, physically and mentally. Absolute genius at the game.
      I actually really like this commentary (one side of it), but he is getting pretty old, and you probably know how older folks (just about there myself) get kind of set in their ways, and sometimes a bit crotchety...maybe a tiny bit of that creeping in, too. I have seen plenty of times where that particular commentator (the first that spoke here) called out a shot that was likely higher percentage than the pro played, either to an easier two way, or whatever, or call specific problems in a shot that should be high priority to avoid, and then seen the pro botch it in exactly that manner...he is actually quite knowledgeable, my opinion, and I have learned a LOT listening to him....so likely I have some positive bias toward him. Take it or leave it, just pointing a couple of things out.

      @cakins1986 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@THEcreezable I think it shows a weakness in Filler's game for sure, which is impatience and playing a hair too fast at times. He could have taken his time, maybe used a bridge and played, or at least attempted, a much better safety. But the fact that he made such a fast decision, and obviously a pretty poor one (and one that I suspect he knew was poor), shows that he wasn't terribly worried about giving up a rack because of how much firepower he has. But at this level even one rack can cost you the match.
