th-cam.com/video/4AzjyUMhpeg/w-d-xo.html - Here's a little video update on the changes to the channel. To sum it up, there are some teething problems, but hopefully they'll begin to be ironed out in time. Thankfully there are more views coming in, and I am trying to change things up. Editing & art maybe not perfect, the Character talking isn't the most interesting etc. etc. So I do hear you, but, just hopefully you can stand by some of the minor mistakes and see it will be moving in the right direction.

At the end of the Day, I watch because you provide quality narration, on interesting topics (the last one on morocco was very interesting, the swanky art styles etc are much loved but not mandatory. Its baffled me that you haven't been able to reliable maintain views, because the content is more then worth the time to watch.
I continue to wish you well and success :)

At the end of the day, shorter videos = better, the reason you are getting more views is also simple, colourful backgrounds for the title cards = easier to pick up on feed/more appealing to random person browsing youtube.
Also please just use your real face, films yourself.
Yeah I know you said you are awkward, we don't care.
Also short videos = easier to make, youtube algorithm loves daily uploads.
Lastly hit up all the social media, reddit/twitter/facebook/tix tox/insta ect... there are some apps to make this easier, but this is essential, you clearly spend alot of time on the videos, spend half of that (yes half) marketing it on social media.
1 more thing, use Vid IQ chrome extension for youtube, gives a good feedback on what the youtube algorithm likes, what you can do.
Been subs on you channel for 6 years mate, always quality keep it up.

The attention channels get is sometimes unrelated to quality. By all means, improve the things you think you can improve at. But also, don't blame yourself if you're getting screwed by the algorithm, I've seen people do everything right and still hardly get views. Make the content you would want to see

@@kacgb5315 The Quran contains a number of verses aimed at regulating slavery and mitigating its negative impact.[35][36] It calls for the manumission of slaves.[36][37] It prescribes kindness towards slaves.[36][38] Slaves are considered morally equal to free persons, however, they have a lower legal standing. All Quranic rules on slaves are emancipatory in that they improve the rights of slaves compared to what was already practiced in the 7th century.[39] Many Muslims have interpreted Quran as gradually phasing out slavery.[40][39]
The Quran calls for the freeing of slaves, either the owner manumitting the slave, or a third party purchasing and freeing the slave.[37] The freeing of slaves is encouraged is an act of benevolence,[41] and expiation of sins.[37][42] Quran 24:33 devises a manumission contract in which slaves buy their freedom in installments. Two[43] other verses encourage believers to help slaves pay for such contracts.[44] According to Maurice Middleberg, "Sura 90 in the Quran states that the righteous path involves 'the freeing of slaves.'"[45] One of the uses of zakat, a pillar of Islam, is to pay for the freeing of slaves.[46]
The Quran prescribes kind treatment of slaves.[38][36] Quran 4:36 calls for good treatment to slaves. The Quran recognizes the humanity of slaves,[47] by calling them "believers", recognizing their desire to be free, and recognizing female slaves' aversion to prostitution.[48] Several verses list slaves as members of the household, sometimes alongside wives, children and other relatives.[47]
The Quran recognizes slaves as morally and spiritually equal to free people.[49] God promises an eternal life in the Hereafter.[35] This equality is indicated in Quran 4:25, which addresses free people and slaves as “the one of you is as the other” (ba'dukum min ba'din).[50] Quran 39:95 refers to master and slave with the same word.[50] However, slaves are not accorded the same legal standing as the free. Slaves are considered as minors for whom the owner is responsible.[49] The punishment for crimes committed by slaves is half the punishment as to be meted out on free persons.[44] The legal distinction between slaves and the free is regarded as the divinely established order of things,[35] which is seen as part of God's grace.[48]
The Quran recognizes slavery as a source of injustice, as it places the freeing of slaves on the same level as feeding the poor.[40] Nevertheless, the Quran doesn't abolish slavery. One reason given is that slavery was a major part of the 7th century socioeconomic system, and it abolishing it would not have been practical.[40] Most interpretations of the Quran agree that the Quran envisions an ideal society as one in which slavery no longer exists.[40][39

I've seen a good amount of videos from this channel, but this is the first time I've seen him stop the narration several times to tell his audience that the person is exaggerating.
I just want to say that you don't need to do that. It's okay for a guy, who was a pow in the infamous prison ships to criticize the British empire without feeling the need to reassure your audience that it "wasn't that bad". It's demeaning to the voice of history as well as your audience.
I'm not saying we should make it out to be worse than it is, but we shouldn't candy coat it either.
But the truth is that the British empire was often inhumane and gruesome. Take for example the diary of Thomas Thistlewood.
Even Winston Churchill once said in response to an admiral who accused him of having impugned the traditions of the Royal Navy "Don't talk to me about naval tradition. It's nothing but rum, sodomy, and the lash".
I think it's fair to say that the majority of the sodomy was of the non-consensual kind.
It is what it is. Anyway, what good is history if we can't learn from it?

    • @JabzyJoe
      @JabzyJoe  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

I've only made 3, and in 2 of them I say the narrator is exaggerating. After the 1st one got criticism for not doing that, So I said the writer in Manchuria is overly critical of everything non-British. And in this the diarist can be overly dramatic, like when describing breakfasts or, French reports (not his report) of extermination ships are an exaggeration.

I would point out that he was mainly referring to the author's obvious biases and underlying motives as to how he would portray ANY other Nationalities on board as gross caricatures, using it as a stepping stool to advocate the "civilized and higher american morals"...
It is interesting to see how you react (and seem to only see) an "american treatment as POV" argument in those comments, whilst disregarding how it was actually a statement reminding us that the author's perspective heavily plays into the narrative, and not to take it as an History Book...
