  • Cripsey Brook is up and running!!
    After some more progress including ballasting, concrete and some paint we have trains running at my new shed!
    Hopefully its an enjoyable video, let me know in the comments!
    ‘Cripsey Brook’ is a 5ft modular section that integrates into my main layouts branch line, or will fit into my to be built ‘Ongar’ based layout, aswell as having the option of being run by itself.
    The name comes from the area next to Ongar where the shed will based when not attached to my larger Harefield layout.
    Thanks as always to AGR for supplying the components to build this new idea.

    Hi Eric, just a thought regarding single storey building at rear of yard. I think you could extend the height by placing plastic card on outer wall to cover the gap required to increase the height of the building and place a set of steps to give the door height. Hope this helps. Will also give the building better ridgity. Cheers Alan

    Hi Eric, excellent addition to the layout! Not only looks fantastic, but adds great play value too. I thoroughly enjoy how your railway evolves and very much looking forward to the Ongar build 👍

    Love the loco shed. It adds so much to the layout. Just a thought, before you start ballasting on the main board from the loco shed. How about a check rail on the curve because it looks sharp enough to warrant one and would add another dimension.
    Regards, Paul in Cornwall.

    What a great place to do a bit of spotting by the double decker...the main line on one side and the shed on the other. Lovely work on the shed too...looks great, and a nice little running session as well. Very enjoyable Eric...all the best.

    As always great inspiration for the rest of us. Thanks for showing ballasting again and pit falls of other approaches. For your shed tea room seems a shame to ditch it. Try raising it up on a 5mm deck with some old dodgy steps down to shed floor. It also helps reduce the roof gap. Mark

    Cripsybrook, fantastic name for a fantastic depot. It really does look good. I like the look of the ballast you have used. I’m a bus modeller and building a depot at the moment and want to have a yard at the side that’s not the same tarmac effect as the main garage but more of an unmade surface and that ballast looks as if it would suit the purpose.

    • @UndergroundEric
      @UndergroundEric  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cheers mate! Yeah i thought it would be a nice touch since the brook is the part of the Ongar layout that i sadly have to leave out.
      The ballast is great actually, its defo become my go-to brand. Hopefully it will weather up nicely 🙂

    Hi Eric.
    Great vlog as usual.
    Love seeing your attention to detail.
    You're layout brings back so many memories for me. Can't wait to see the Ongar shuttle line. As I'm an old git part of my duty was a motorman on the Epping Ongar shuttle, also I was there when Blake Hall was in existence. We had the 59 62 stock on there.
    Great way to do the base Been using poly filler for mine.
    What a fantastic job of your depot. Don't know if you have seen the water tower on my vlog, it's an American one but I love it, totally out of place but hey anything goes on my layout.😏
    Thanks for the video Eric

    Once again good progress made and another interesting video. Regards the curve in shed, personally i'd just get a portacabin, cut diagonaily and stick the other piece on top with a staircase for access to upper level. Should give ample clearance for rolling stock/mask the view.

    Hi Eric, After cleaning off the rail heads with a track rubber I then burnish the top of the rail with a pair of stainless steel washers glued to a piece of scrap wood. Works for me! Love your presentations attention to detail and slow running of locos and stock. Happy Modelling T🚂

    @user-sv4pj5jl8n 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Eric, a couple of suggestions, you might add a small building adjacent to or in the car park area. Also, your steam locomotives need a crew! There is nothing worse to have steam engines shunting about with ghost crews..

    • @UndergroundEric
      @UndergroundEric  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks, yes that is defo something i want to do, the plan is a small half relief brick building on the side nearer the bridge and a couple parking spaces on the right 😀
      Ive had all the ModelU crew for them for a good year or so now! Just havent fitted them 😂 perhaps a subject for the next vid/one after? Getting stock ready ect. Cool idea i think actually!!
      Cheers

    Instead of P38 have you thought of using a modelling filler such as squadron putty which would be easier to use without mixing

    • @UndergroundEric
      @UndergroundEric  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Could do but P38 dries nice and fast and is easy to sand ect, just what im used to from my days bodging up old volkswagens 😂

    Question. Should the SW notice be on the other side of the road bridge advising the oncoming driver that there is a awitch coming up. Further should there not be a yard limit sign ? Do like how this little scenario came together though. Arthur

    • @UndergroundEric
      @UndergroundEric  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cheers Arthur, SW is for ‘sound whistle’, so i placed it there since the bridge is still within the yard and is a bit tight so poor clearance for workers, dont know what you mean by a yard limit sign, i would have liked to have fitted a signal however the exit of the yard would be beyond the bridge. I have a plan though!

    • @afm1948
      @afm1948 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@UndergroundEric, a yard limit is how far any engine or rolling stock can move without fouling the main, whilst shunting within the actual yard... Sound whistle: I hadn't thought of that . II thuoght it stood for switch. Thanks for enlightening me.. Arthur
