    Super update Eric. The lights make the depot area look very authentic! I hadnt realised that the pots were placed on alternate sleepers!…cheers for the tip…before I start my layout.

      Yeah usually! Its something i hadnt realised when i laid the 4th rail on one platform at Harefield, i will have to re-do it at some point

    Hi. Really atmospheric with those lights on, you did a great job. I'm new to your videos but I will have to go through all your older videos to see what setup you have there, I've seen glimpses of it, so quite excited to see it all up and running. Keep safe and well. Jim from Dartford.

    The depot lights look very good. You are a braver man than me in cutting a piece off of a building, but it turned out ok and as you said the back will make a big difference. Martin. (Thailand)

    The shed scene is looking super nice, especially with the night time lighting. The 3rd & 4th rails were definitely worth all the effort and add a very realistic touch. Shanks a lot for sharing!

    Thanks Eric, just found your brilliant channel (it’s a bit underground 😊) I’ve just started laying my first tracks since I left home in 1987, a long, long wait and now I’m in Thailand so still tricky. Thanks for all the tips and inspiration. I’ll maybe share mine when there’s something to see! Subbed. 👍

    As to insulating fishplates for Bullhead track, two suggestions. First of all, for automation purposes, you only need to insulate *one* side of the rail (the side that you connect through the occupancy sensor). The other side can remain uninsulated. Secondly, although Peco recommend using N gauge insulated rail joiners, it is better to use C&L Finescale plastic fishplates: they look better and work more effectively. Superglue them on for best effect. If fitting at the time of track laying, use the type with two fish plates and a plastic piece in the middle connecting them; if retrofitting them, use the single sided type.

    • @UndergroundEric
      @UndergroundEric  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah i know mate, my main layout is all done for block detection, at the time i laid the track on this i hadnt really considered it sadly!
      Will look up the plastic fishplates. Cheers

    have a small shed like your one in O gauge using them on the outside test track. The class 13 looks great but a bit out of context for your layout unless you build a hump yard. Lighting looks great.

    • @UndergroundEric
      @UndergroundEric  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah its just here for fun, i have a 5 inch gauge one below the layout

  • @earlfreeman93
    @earlfreeman93 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    It is your layout so do as you want; however if the corrugated side bothers you then use brick paper to cover it up.

    • @UndergroundEric
      @UndergroundEric  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I dont use brick paper, only embossed stuff.
      The sides of the depot will remain in brick

    Hi Eric, always enjoyable to see the railway develop, this time it’s come leaps and bounds. The lights have truely added to that section. The addition of the third and forth rails, so precise and again have added to that section. How are you gonna keep the detail level even across all the boards? Wow the detail levels appear to be getting higher and higher. So what did you decide on the line side shed? Always an inspirational 30-40mins. All best Marc from Leighton Buzzard

    Hi Eric well another great video, luv your installation of 3rd & 4th rails you did it so well, if you looking for holiday downunder i have plenty 3rd & 4th rail waiting to go in, lights look great, nice colour too, why did you put the barrow xing there, or are you putting a bit of pathway in along the siding, look forward to next one 👍😎

    Also - what colour did you choose for the conductor rail weathering?

    • @UndergroundEric

      Its just a ‘coal black’ but i will give them a dusting of sleeper grime to tone them down just slightly

  • @kineticrail

    Eric, I noticed that you are drilling the pots well into the sleeper which suspect prevents fouling by rolling stock. What size drill did you use?

    • @UndergroundEric
      @UndergroundEric  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Think it was 2mm but i cant remember for sure. I just went for a size that was about the same as the largest bit on the pot, they are a snug push fit
