sadly, xi's career now is not as high as the last 5 years ago. As Bemani's popularity decreases over time, so does xi. Right now, the rhythm games songs album are dominated by hardcore tanoc which is pretty hard for xi to adapt with the trend. But at least he manages to grab a title as one of the best rhythm games composer of all time and i am pretty sure a lot of rhythm games community will remember that
Holy shit man i haven't even finished watching this video, but i can tell you that you are currently super underrated! I absolutely love your in depth explanations of everything, especially about death piano and it's difficulty as i've never seen or played the chart despite having about 2 years of VSRG experience (mainly osu!mania and etterna) i learned an absolute ton about the chart that i've only heard that it was difficult but never knew why it was so difficult.
Thanks so much man! I'm glad you could get something out of it :) Also speaking of which, I highly recommend you check out FFR if you havent already, it's a really fun VSRG and it's where I started (been playing them for 6 and a half years now!)
xi also recently released the sequel of the Freedom Dive saga, "Heavenly Blast" featured in Maimai. Also notice how xi uses the initial words from each song, Freedom Dive (FD), Glorious Crown (GC), Heavenly Blast (HB). I think thats pretty cool
20:31 it's actually Time Files as it says on the screen, as much as i repeatedly misread "Time Flies" to make more sense from an English phrase standpoint
I keep rewatching these videos surprised by how they are so high quality but low in views. You’re going to explode in popularity any one of these days, I’m sure of it.
Thanks so much man! That'd be awesome one day, definitely not ready for popularity yet though. For now as long as even a single person enjoys I'm glad :)
the go beyond jazzy mix is in a pack I made in 2009 (around when it came out I think?) called Xoon 4 Blue Version for Stepmania 4key if anyone wanted to hear it
Wow, i recently found the Nanahira video and instantly got this recommended, i was searching for more of Xi's history for a long time and you did a amazing work sumarizing all of it, thank you.
Really nice video. Xi has been one of my favorite composers as of late, I first came across his music in Arcaea with Halcyon and Overwhelm (Overwhelm being one of my all time favorites) a really great composer and it was very interesting to hear about the history behind Xi.
Recently there was a new xi's track added to Muse dash - Twisted Escape. An absolute banger, one of the most fun songs to play but also extremely hard.
Years ago, I thought about how great it would be for someone to make TH-cam analyses on prolific rhythm game artists, and here you are! xi is one of my favorite artists of all time, this was a real treat :)
Been a fan of Xi's songs for a while, they've gotten me through some pretty rough times, but I never really knew who this producer was, aside from how much I loved his songs Thanks so much for the video, your channel is seriously underrated
To that one person who disliked this absolute masterpiece, I will find you I will come to you And I will make yo listen to Halcyon on loop for all of eternity Until you like this video
People on the internet tend to overuse praises, call others goated left and right, but I think xi truly deserves this one. To me he's the best composer of this century, and I think it will be really hard to take this title from him. It's no surprise that almost all my favorite songs from xi ended up being in Parousia album and indeed it might be the best rhythm game music album ever. I barely knew anything about his roots and what else he did besides BMS, so thanks for making this video! It was a good watch
That is incredible work man. I ve been making a report for my engl class about xi based on your video for 5 hours straight and im already tired. Just an insane amount of labor was put into creating this masterpiece. It's a pity that the community rhythm of the games is not quite big, because of which you are not as popular as you should really be. Great potential!
Damn, watching this video 4 years after my first listen to xi's music give me whole new perspective in interpreting his music. The amount of research done is insane, I've been trying to find more of his earlier tracks, and this video basically covered everything i've been searching. Nice work man, keep it up. Btw, To live, Albatross and iolite are also not to be overlooked in his latest album.
Thoughout this video I started typing my favourite xi song multiple times, but it's a different one for each time I comment so I guess I'm just gonna have to accept Xi is a legend who doesn't peak but simply stands at the top.
This is some high-tier video, you are underrated af! Im so looking forward to new videos ^^ Edit: Forgot to say that you really manage to keep someones attention quite good! I didn't even notice that a whole hour has passed!
I fell in love with his music through my first rhythm game, DEEMO, and I have loved rhythm games and Xi's music ever since! Thank you so much for this awesome series, it's really giving me some more insight into my favorite genre of game!! Thank you Xi, killing my fingers from Aragami to Freedom Dive, his music has vibed with me since 2015
Amazing video. I always wanted to know more about xi because I absolutely love his music. There’s just something so infectious about some of his songs. I also think that the song Storia is pretty good. Its a mashup of xi and Sakuzyo. The songs for each artists are: xi: Halcyon, Nifheimr Sakuzyo: Magical Musical Master, AXION, Black Lair
I always play his songs in the arcade and i’m loving every second of them! The only one i haven’t played is his collab with Kaneko Chiharu. And that one is a bomb as well
Never have i been so hype by the amount of songs i've guess correctly when you mention the event even though i only hear them on osu. Thanks for the amazing document.
Great video! I'm glad to see someone took the time to find out the past of XI. Definitely an amazing artist that deserves some more recognition. Also, noticed there was nothing about AQUAELIE's XI. Was curious as to if you even knew about that or not. I'm assuming you did but thought I'd double check. ^-^
older video and already has been mentioned once, but i find it so amusing how almost everyone i met who tries to say the song name time files either calls it time flies or patiently waits for someone else to mispronounce it to point them out, never have i seen song title with such impact as this one
Thank you for your hard work on this very detailed video about one of my favourite rhythm games producers ever! xi rules! '3' Halcyon was the first song I heard of them a long time ago but I got hooked on since :D Btw I also like the jazz remix of Go Beyond! Their jazz fusion tracks are always really nice . Thank you for notifying about the new releases on their other three albums, I will check them out for sure! Again thank you for bringing a spotlight into xi' history! I really like your comments on EM and Ascension to Heaven
Great video! Was very enjoyable to watch. I really wish we had more people documenting this stuff. We have a serious lack of such content in the rhythm gaming niche haha. A few things however: You don't need a special version of LR2 to play PMS, it plays PMS just fine right out of the box. Light-pop is just a skin to make LR2 look more like pop'n'music but functionally it doesn't change anything, it's purely visual. The version of Solros Grandthaw released for BMS has no vocals, the version with vocals was special album release. And lastly, just a personal note, it's a little upsetting to see you talk about all these rhythm games but not the rhythm game these songs were made for. Freedom Dive has one of biggest running legacies in BMS. Freedom Dive - Four Dimensions (the name of the osu map was a direct reference to this) has existed pretty much since the song's original creation, is one of the most played songs on the entire platform, it's the song you need to clear to achieve the highest dan certification, and still no one has full combo'd it. This is a platform where pretty much all the top players of most rhythm games end up playing at some point in their career. Yet over the last 15 years, no one has been able to do it. However, the bar is still getting raised, with 1 combo break (5BP) achieved for the very first time just last year. I don't think it's understatement to say that if this song ever gets fullcombo'd it will be the single greatest achievement ever in rhythm gaming as a whole.
Thanks for watching man, glad you enjoyed haha. Those were all mistakes on my part, mainly because of me not being hugely knowledgeable at the time since I had come straight from mainly playing 4k. FREEDOM DIVE was a pretty big miss on my part though, apologies on that.
Great video about a great artist. One song I really like from Evolved Chronicles that you didn't mention is Aparajita. I just love the buildups in the song. The way each note in the melody just raises a semitone just really makes them feel more powerful and intense. Honourable mentions to two songs that weren't mentioned that I think are good: Azalea and Mjolnir. Mjolnir is very similar to Longinus, would strongly recommend listening to it.
can i request a history on team grimoire? from the amount of albums they released and how they're always appears as a boss song in many rhythm games, kinda want to know them a bit more
That video was amazing. I don't play rhythm games but I listen to Xi most of the time. It's nice to see his musical career and I now know his standpoint in the rythmgame community.
Absolutely brilliant work - that's what xi's compositions should be considered. While listening to so called rhythm game music I sometimes how it turned out the music of the future isn't acknowledged by the mainstream music community
How did I not find this video? I LOVE xi since I played Cytus version 4? I guess? I legit got goosebumps when Halcyon plays. Thanks for making this video! Edit: I wrote this comment while watching, and once again, Parousia hit me hard.

@@xKaby He just released a new song called Overwhelm for Arcaea! It feels like a really modern take on his classsic "xi" style. P.S. You've probably heard it already, but fyi just in case. 😅
ome of the things i wish from xi is for him to remaster some of his older songs, not likely, might be just me, might be because i really like .357 magnum.
Hope you enjoy. Sorry for the mic quality at certain points.

This is amazing work man! You are really scratching an itch I've had for years ~
Glad to hear it man! More to come soon!

Xi sounds like he was a one man Prog/Neo-Classical Metal composer who discovered J-Hardcore and Speedcore, insane stuff
