The amount of nostalgia I got from this video is insane. I’ve only really played the game since 2018 but I knew about it and sort of followed it back in 2016 and seeing all these events happen in order again just made me feel like I was reliving all of it. A few key things that were left out that don’t get talked about a lot outside the mapping community were the evolution of the map editor over time (which is why a lot of old maps feel lower quality than newer ones), the rise of some super important or controversial mappers such as mazzerin, val0108, hailie, hollow wings, fanzhen, and pishifat. The first r/place which had the legendary battle between tyler1 and osu! also didn’t get mentioned.

My God, so many good memories. I started back in October of 2013. Was introduced as a game to play while in champ select for league. All my friends got into it and I thought league was getting replaced. Thing is all my friends went back to playing league while I no lifed the shit out of osu. So many good friends. I ended up befriending the best Brazilian player at the time going by Henarca, I played multi with Azer the best Canadian player, and I also befriended Chrononigga who became one of the top Canadian players and went to a local HS. I met a guy on local chat who ended up meeting his SO on local chat. So much fun. Sadly I have no more time for vidya, but I can't say I don't miss the good times.
