Andiamo is my favorite word to use when bike riding! Andiamo Cycling was our tour operation in Lake Garda (Peschiera del Garda) on our recent trip. So much thanks to Nicola, David’s, Simone, Daniele Stefano and especially Alberto who got me over the tough climbs!😊
I think the reason the verb “andare” is irregular in present indicative (in other words the real present tense) has to do with the fact that Vulgar Latin wasn’t spoken so well. The Spanish and Portuguese verbs “ser” (to be usually referring to something permanent) and “ir” (to go) are conjugated exactly the same in the preterite (or simple past tense which would be the equivalent of the remote past tense regarding conjugation and not necessarily grammar) for that reason. I think every Romance language ignores something about the Latin verb “ire” (only not always the exact same thing).
I appreciate your lessons. Since you did to go, how about doing "To Stop" . I stopped going to that Store. He Stopped the car at the stop sign. They stopped arguing. Please stop the car. Etc.
Grazie Valentina! A question please. Why does Loro andavano NOT follow the general rule that the next-to-the-last syllable is stressed. In this case the 2nd syllable is stressed (anDAvano). Noi andaVAmo follows the rule but not loro anDAvamo. Is there a general exception to this rule?
Ottimo orecchio, Daniel! (*excellent ear) I usually have to point this out to students. Yes, this is a general exception, in the third person plural (loro) of present tense the stress always moves one place backwords.
Hi,Valentina, Thank you very much for your video. I would like to ask if passato prossimo is equal to Past Perfect tense in English? eg. I have gone, you have gone, he/she has gone etc. and the imperfetto is equal to Simple Past tense in English? eg, I went you went he/she went etc.
Buongiorno Miriam. Actually not. Passato prossimo is usually the equivalent of Simple past in English. Imperfetto can be translated also with simple past or often with the "used to" form. The equivalent of Past Perfect in Italian is most of the times Present Tense. E.g.: "I've lived in this house for 10 years" in Italian would be "Vivo in questa casa da 10 anni". If you said "Ho vissuto in questa casa per 10 anni" that would actually mean "I LIVED in this house for 10 years". I'm planning on making a video on this soon.
Ciao Hadi, starting from next week's video, I'm going to share the pdf slides of my videos, including this one, so you'll be able to review them easily.
Ciao, I have developed my own curriculum and online course to help students with that. You can find it here: www.valentinastellatutor.com/how-to-enroll-in-the-italian-course-101/

Hi! What about the future verbal tense "I'm going to" ? Io vado a ? Is it common in italy?
No, we don't have that structrure in Italian. We use present tense for that, eg. "I'm going to eat a pizza tonight" > "Mangio una pizza stasera".
Is it okay to change the last alphabet in "andato" as in Io sono andato..... when it is a female involved?
When the gender of the subject is feminine, we have to change the ending to match it. So for a woman it would be "io sono andata".
I appreciate your lessons. Since you did to go, how about doing "To Stop" . I stopped going to that Store. He Stopped the car at the stop sign. They stopped arguing. Please stop the car. Etc.
Great. I’d like to conjugate verbiage with avere
Io vado
Same for girl n boy both can use ?
Thanks for helping us always ❤

I have a dedicated video on the topic! th-cam.com/video/nHrpQFtl-ts/w-d-xo.html
How can i learn and hear italian, is difficult for me to learn. Please help me.
Ciao, I have developed my own curriculum and online course to help students with that. You can find it here: www.valentinastellatutor.com/how-to-enroll-in-the-italian-course-101/
Sei carina 🥀
❤👍🙏
So with sei andato, if you’re speaking to a woman, you would say sei andata? Just confirming.
Esatto! That's something that always happens when using "essere" in Italian, now it should be easier for you to notice!
✌✌✌✌✌😋😋😋😋
If you say lui it’s already indicated a male gender . So o don’t know why you have to match the gender with the other word
Please watch this other video of mine for an explanation: th-cam.com/video/uerysI6Ivi4/w-d-xo.html
I know I am cheating by looking at tenses 😆
😄 It's not cheating, it's learning!
Whyv2 past tense?
They are used in different contexts. Explanation coming soon!
