I legitimately had to step away for a few minutes after Nara used up the last question. Perf hates being the Chosen One, despises the quest, does not want to go kill the Wicked Kings - but chose to place Carrow's need above his and Nara's desires. Nara, meanwhile... ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)
Oh the Death is devilishly smart. So well written. Textbook temptation. I can literally write notes off of this for tempting a paladin character for a group I am dming. If only they cared half as much for a good story as this group is , aside from the jokes. :)

Brian has been my favorite actor to follow through the ZoE films this series impaticular. Bravo man, you have some serious range.
Right? That explosion of rage and then the perfect turn into anguish and sorrow. I've always loved his characters because he plays someone that relates a lot to me and what I've done/who I've been. But that scene was done beautifully, I don't care about the rest of the party anymore, this whole season has just made me want more of Carrow.

Guys you are all awesome. Ive been following and watching everything you've done since gamers 1. I have all the gamers movies (love them so much) and the shadow run story is great. I am a big shadow run fan as well. And Journey Quest brought me lots of laughs, then I saw season 3 and I legit sprang out of my seat in joy to tell my wife (I got her hooked as well).
This is one of the best episodes Ive seen yet. Carrows scene was great, all the acting as amazing guys. I rewatched this episode a few times and I noticed something that Nara did. At the oracle when Perf messes up two questions, and turns to her you can see some really good body language and micro expressions. The clenching of the jar and weight shift. Well done. Well done everyone.

"Your voice will come soon", Although Carrow in season 1 and the Pale Lady both claim he is unique (or was before he bit the assassin) she clearly knows what he is turning into. Rewatched for the 3.5 Kickstarter and I'm so glad it got funded. So much more to come :)

This fills my heart while waiting for Rick and Morty season 4 to arrive. SPECTACULAR acting this episode! I've been with this group since "Dorkness Rising," and this episode in particular was a shining achievement in their career. 10 thumbs up!

This episode made Nara my least favourite character instantly. Perf messed up, but you should have been prepared for that. That's kind of his whole 'thing'. If anything you should have gagged him before going in. But Carrow needed you. Needed this one question answered, and you blew it to assuage your own bruised ego and confusion after not getting the sword.

If you don't want them to mess up, think out the exact questions and wording right there *before* they go off without you! Then you'll have helped them, and there's less of a chance they'll mess up, especially since they don't really know what's happening to you!
Most particularly, tell them to ask her, "In what specific ways can our friend Carrow be healed of his undead malady?"
Your idea actually would have failed. He tried to make it clear but he did not think to do something so obvious as tell the wizard not to ask any questions at all himself or none that they did not agree upon.
He would have gone in and asked the same 2 questions like an idiot and Nara would have taken the last. The only way this worked out would have been to leave it to Nara alone to ask the questions, but they gave him too much credit and let meathenge go in too.
But if he'd trained him in what to ask, told him not to say literally *anything* except what was there, and even if possible written down the questions verbatim, it probably would have worked.
But yeah, that's a good point. It's not wise to send a man commonly referred to as the worst wizard in the world to represent you to an oracle.
Yep and the point is that they did not even consider just how terrible he is at this stuff. They gave him the credit of not being a total moronic ass and they paid the price. This should never happen again with those 2 characters but it had to happen once.
Its like how you don't expect someone to ask "who's on top" upon meeting literally anyone in a relationship. Its a stupid question full of reasons you shouldn't ask it given normal circumstances. People however do ask it, even at times when most would have just assumed.

I sincerely hope you are wrong, since he is a much more interesting character than Glorion. Also I can't really see how Glorion's character should develop and reunite with the party, he won't listen to reason, he will fight them to aquire the magic sword.
Chris Rudolf, I hope Glorion dies too, don't get me wrong Orc Dude is my favorite character, he subverts the trope of the bad Orc and he's actually a really sensitive guy at heart.

I really don't think "I cannot say" counts as an answer. She refused to answer the third question, so they still have a question left.
I don't know what it is but that beginning looks weird to me. It looks like the director has just said action and Perf and Carrow are just waiting for Nara to move because that is the que for them to move also.

Yeah, stuff like that happens, unfortunately, and as mentioned, that was probably their best take there. In fact, they didn't have much time for filming, so they might have only had a couple tries at best, and that wasn't super noticeable, so it worked. I've noticed that happen a couple times, but overall, this group is really good at it!
I read it as them having stopped for a moment for her to read the map. So, yes, waiting for her to move, but in-character.

Perf is incompetent, but at least when he recognized his incompetence he tried to make up for it. Fully on Carrow's side. Nara should not have done that, that was entirely selfish of her. He was right to be pissed. I'd absolutely leave my party if they were made up of idiot and ego.
Also Glorion is the real monster. Like a legit sadist and could easily be the BBEG.
I blame mostly Nara for the Oracle thing.

Does the Oracle really not know, or can she just not tell Nara directly?

Fine, I changed it, but how at all is it a spoiler if the producer of the show himself just comes out and explicitly says it in the video itself? It's part of the produced and released episode, and it's the producer of the show, at that point, it's more of plot development or clarification than spoiling.
It's like the preview stuff. Its part of the show but its not info gained inside the show. Also i was still theorizing as you were and could have kept going if i didn't see your message. The episode itself ends when it ends, the after credits stuff is more like something you would find at a convention or on a dvd etc. Its stuff that they are ok with you knowing, but they really shouldn't give away.
The credits are the end so clearly after credits stuff isn't part of the episode.

I've a feeling that someone has said/would say "still a better lovestory than Twilight." Nah, this is a good story
I felt personally what happened in this episode was there only to Deus Ex Machina justify the Death Goddess convincing Carrow, Perf which has proved he is intelligent, even if albeit incompetent... I mean its obvious it would be like a Genie's Trick, never say the word wish when around a Genie that owes you 3 wishes unless you are making your wishes, and it would be obvious around an Oracle like that you'd keep any questions you have that aren't pertinent, rather than ask a question and risk wasting it... why would he had thought that asking if asking any questions counted against your question count would be a good idea? If the question is yes, you lost a question instantly... so don't do it seem absolutely plainly obvious to anybody that should have the minimum required IQ to be a wizard, sure he isn't the wisest character but still that require an insane level of stupidity.
Next Nara which had shown to be fairly wise, if albeit not as much as Carrow used to be, suddenly prevent Perf from asking Carrow's question to ask a question that ultimately doesn't matter, its a completely superfluous question which provide no solution to a problem, only a personal inquiry, knowing the answer won't serve any purpose... you'd have to be borderline evil to not ask a dire question for a friend in need and decide to ask your own... in D&D term at best Chaotic Neutral, considering she seemingly had noble aspirations it doesn't match the previously displayed behavior.

Well, that was disappointing... I am sitting at 7:20 and going "I can't believe they actually did that".
I was hoping they would go somewhere unexpected, maybe having somebody you don't think about (like the damned sword) burn the group's questions by surprise, or having the oracle answer in a seemingly self-contradictory way, one that only makes sense in hindsight.
A straight idiot ball was honestly my greatest fear: it's cheap, and it makes the characters into cardboard cutouts.
And even then, I expected "Mmm... These are good, what's in them? Wait did that count as a question?"
It's still stupid, but at least you could say he got caught off guard.
But no, a trained wizard, who (at least in theory) received specific education in compacts and contracts and wishes and whatnots has a *premeditated* stupid question to ask the creature that *will only ever answer three questions* .
I don't care what comes after this, that's an epic fail. If he says "but this didn't count, did it?" thus burning a second question, you may as well buy Perf a bike and give him a pool full of sharks.

I still want to see how the series end, because everything else is really good, but that scene is too cringeworthy for words.
Hey bud, shut the fuck up? First off, it was made very clear that Perf isn't a great wizard, hell he isn't even a good one. And on top of that where's the Web series you made? Oh yeah right, you didn't make one. But you have the audacity to complain about a generally good plot line that created drama while following how the elf is drowning in her own self interest and Perf is a complete idiot.
Except Perf is, in fact, a great wizard, he clearly has the ability and the commitment required to complete his studies despite being unable to read-cast, and when we rises to the occasion and actually does his best (instead of trying to try) we see that he has what it takes to can go far given the right mindset.
Perf is not supposed to be an idiot, he's supposed to be a coward. That's not quite the same thing.
Throwing your characters the idiot ball because plot should never be acceptable.
Journeyquest has managed to be a high quality series despite the many constraints it has to deal with. This episode was not like the others.
If setting up the scene with Wren requires every character in this episode to toss each other the idiot ball, then something is clearly wrong. These people are not idiots. Carrow's fate is on the line, and for once nobody is actively trying to kill them. They can afford half an hour and a cup of tea to discuss this over.

The Elf has always been focused on herself and they made sure everyone followed their arc. They didn't do what was required for the plot, they did what fucking made sense

That was pathetic. "Be careful to phrase your questions carefully" Wastes all 3 questions. Bad writing. Artificial conflict.
We all expected it, and really, there wasn't much else they would have done, but they did it well. But they also used it to drive the plots of both Carrow and Nara, even giving us a direct, yet vague clue about Nara. (does she not know the answer or can she just not tell Nara directly?)
But if they'd just given them all the answers, that would just eliminate major plot-schemes and make alot of the work in their arcs go to waste, and the series could probably end more quickly than wanted. It just gives unnecessary amounts of closure at a time when those questions shouldn't be answered yet.
Not to mention it's exactly what yellow robes would have done and elfy was obviously going to want 1 question.
It's not bad writing to have stupid or flawed characters, thats good writing. What happened was exactly what we expected, but we expected it for a reason. They were simply not clever enough to leave the idiot with a pointy hat outside before going in. The obvious answer would be to have Nara do it alone, but as she made clear she gave Mister wizard more credit than he deserved.
I have also a particular hate about the "3 questions per group" thing. How is a group even defined? If they were to enter separately, would they have 6 questions? If Carrow were to go inside now, would it still count as part of the group? And if the Orcslayer enter? And what about the bard lady? 3 questions "per group" does not mean anything.
They could have put 3 questions in a year, or 1 questions each and make the sword waste its own question as the second part of the joke.
Don't you see? The prophet knew they would fail because Carrow would not enter, perf would waste 2 and Nara would use the last.
It's rigged. She can see the future.
To be more specific she knew this exact situation would and had to happen and now they have no alternatives.
