      @@ArawnOfAnnwn I am aware of the fact that America was not invited to "provide them a different way of life". But the fact is, that is what America chose to do. Whether I agree with these military interventions is a different topic entirely that I did not touch in my previous comment. I did not comment on the initial invasion or loss of life that you had mentioned either. If you understood my comment to touch on those topics then please understand that my comment did not have that meaning. I simply intended to say that if America should never be ok with abandoning our allies and those we have chosen to help and protect. Regardless of if it is an allied sovereign nation, the people of another nation we chose to cultivate into an ally, or a specific subset of foreign people we have chosen to help and protect. If we are going to take action we should do it properly and to completion. These choices are cruel to the people America interacts with and by these actions we slander ourselves to the world.

      Honestly, it's fairly typical for the US to cyclically abandon it's allies. What is NOT typical is "forgetting" to blow up our latest tech before letting the enemy steal it. That's a new low. Anything the T don't use themselves is going to get sold to anyone who wants our tech, which will let the T buy literal boatloads of low-tech but cost-effective weapons.

    Fun fact white rice is just polish rice.
    They polish off the brown outer shell.
    This actually led to an issue in japan with "edo sickness."
    You see rice has vitamin b1 in the brown outer part, polishing it removes that and since the Japanese navy served it as sort of a perk for joining up since white rice was considered a luxury, it led to a situation similar to scurvy. (Interestingly a japanese doctor who studied in the west made the connection after learning of scurvy.)
    Tangent aside, despite brown rice being actually healthier for you to me it has a dirtier flavor (less intense than quinoa but just as gross to my palate. Some.decribe the flavor as earthy, I call it dirt)

      TH-camrs whose channels are based on geopolitics (like Caspian Report) talk about it plenty. Other TH-camrs don't simply because it's not relevant to their channel. And I question why you feel a pressing desire to hear them do so, especially since that concern also doesn't seem to extend to the wars in Yemen or Ethiopia. Are things only concerning when the west is involved?

    • @ArawnOfAnnwn
      @ArawnOfAnnwn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@jondorf3315 That makes sense as an expectation for Gyle, who's British, not TH-cam in general. It also doesn't jive when you have lines like "concerning thing in the world", cos that applies to all those other major world events as well. The overall impression is of Afghanistan being treated as somehow especially more important than other places, rather than just more personally significant for the peoples involved. And if it is more important, then the pertinent question is - why i.e. on what basis? There're possible neutral answers to that (casualty comparisons for instance, but no one's mentioned any statistics here), but also many biased ones (tarnishing the wests' image being popular in these comments).

      @@ArawnOfAnnwn There is some important contextual information that helps reveal why the topic of Afhanistan is more important than other topics in this setting. Firstly, the sudden destabilization of Afhanistan is a very recent development, compared to the more or less status quo situation of Yemen that has been in a state of civil war since the dawn of time. That makes it a more important topic to even an international audience, as the ramifications of the events in Afghanistan will be seen almost immediately. That is compounded by the severity of the news, the defeat of a superpower in an important strategic location in the world like Afghanistan creates a lot of very serious ripples in the world of politics, and opens a new political battleground for nations like China and Russia, but also Iran and Pakistan, which is needless to say very disruptive.
      Secondly, this channel and it's audience are largely anglophones, and the world's largest anglophones nations are deeply invested in this war, so it makes a lot of sense why, with this considered, this topic is a lot more important than others to that demographic.

      Many forgett that power = mass. If you ever powerstall, mass is gone.
      Its a balance though, units vs upgrading mexes. t2 is quite importaint when u have no more t1 mexes.
      A mod that removes power use from mexes would help newbies alot as powerstalling can cost you 10's of thousand of mass crippling you alot.
      Just watch some replay for games you loose, ignore unit movements watch how the eco is balanced. Making to much power can be bad as 200 more power income cost you 1 t2 mex in mass, and thats 3 times more mass then 1 t1.

    • @genericyoutubeaccount579
      @genericyoutubeaccount579 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am about 1200 so take this with a grain of salt.
      1. Assist your mex upgrades. If you can get your first t2 mex faster than your opponent who is upgrading three mexes at a time then you can use that initial income to get your 3rd and 4th t2 mexes faster. This will snowball very fast. Sometimes you have to upgrade 2 or 3 mexes at a time or else you will overflow mass but it is always best to add lots of assistance to 1 mex at a time.
      2. You NEVER want your mass bar to hit 80%. That means you engies will stop reclaiming as any mass they reclaim will get wasted. Try to keep your mass bar anywhere from 0%-30% full. That gives you enough flexibility to click a mex upgrade and not immediately begin stalling mass. Also any excess mass in your bar could be going towards a mex upgrade or more eco but instead it is just rotting in storage.
      3. For players rated 0-900, I see that they don't build enough build power and so they overflow mass. Or they don't build enough energy and they energy stall. For higher rated players, 1000+ they overbuild energy and buildpower. Remember, pgens cost mass. So if you are overflowing an ungodly amount of power you are not just wasting energy but also the mass it cost to make those pgens. Also making buildpower (engies, factories, hives, ect.) cost mass. So if you have too much buildpower, then each individual builder is working at a slower pace, wasting the mass and energy that you put into making those units.
      4. In conclusion, good players won't stall mass or energy and they won't overflow either resource.

    • @B20C0
      @B20C0 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Generally once your first 4 mexes stand you should constantly have at least one mex upgrading (ringing it counts as upgrading too) at any given time until they are all t3. I'd even say that ecoing is much more important than microing in FAF

      @@visvires6305 So do you not think there would be outrage if the Americans took back all weapons from the Afghan army before leaving? Then the outrage would be that they left the afghan army defenseless.
      Also a complete and quick evacuation by every country would have been blamed as the cause for why the afghan army lost all morale and disintegrated. There's no winning because regardless what you do there would be outrage.
      I guess what intelligence existed is not yet clear, but the president spoke about lasting 3 months 3 days before the country was completely lost. @@skyvipers Mate, if you really cared about schools and roads being built, then you wouldn't have sabotaged the Russians doing the exact same thing when they occupied it. Secondly, it's telling how much war apologists seem to care about women's rights when it justifies their wars, but not when they're suppressed by close allies (like KSA) and ESPECIALLY not about the mountain of dead (including women). What little good came out of it came at the cost of literally HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of dead Afghans. And no, there's no way the Taliban are gonna exceed that number, assuming their regime is stable - there was never as high a death toll when they were in power before, because WAR really is just that destructive.
      War doesn't 'protect' people in the first place, it kills them. It was an invasion fyi. If you want to make the world a better place, there's FAR more that could've been done with all those trillions that didn't involve invading a country, which btw has also resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths (did I mention that before? We could have stayed another 100 years and ended up in the same situation, and the West was never going to actually deal with the Taliban's support network because it would practically mean a world war.
    Russia ended up with the same conundrum and they also pulled out rather than fighting against the US and Egypt, who were funding and equipping the Mujahideen. The US wasn't going to fight Pakistan, Iran, and possibly Russia. So we left.

Seleucid, Perses, Mongols, Mungals, Russian Empire, British empire, URSS, NATO break there teethes there. It's call the grave of empire for some reason x) It's a country that had the bad idea to be in the center of the crossroad of Asia

    The Taliban victory was inevitable. And the fact that they rolled through and took over the whole country peacefully the second the US/UK powers pulled out just shows that the common Afghan people don't object to their rule. It's a good thing the war is over and it's a good thing Afghans will live how Afghans apparently want to live, in an Islamic Eremite.

    @ approx 6:00 it is sad, two things though, you can't occupy a country forver to maintain a shaky stability, the people have to do something. secondly, limited war/operations are effing STUPID when applied to afghanistan or anywhere else with a dedicated fanatical element that has significant resources. all or nothing, half-assed just feeds the defense contractors...they LOVE limited conflicts where not enough force is allocated to end things relatively quickly. yeah, that country is hell to operate in, neighboring countries don't do much to help or provide active support against even if it's just turning a blind governmental eye to what passes through their borders and doesn't directly affect them.
    ugh...the more you think about it the worse it gets. governmental failure and the planners who should have been listened to were ignored. people who took to heart what the soviets had gone through and didn't want the sequel. almost seems like everyone loses...but there were winners. look who the governments paid the most to over those decades., who profited massively with zero risk.
    hey, it's a comment, part of the unholy YT triad :p so there's that at least.

    In regards to "pros" not liking big ocean maps because they want to kill the enemy in 6 min, why even play a RTS then? Got all these different unit types and tiers, but nah I want spam the first unit that can attack and kill instantly. Rushing is the dumbest strategy in RTSs, if you want to kill fast and end the game fast then play COD. If you want to build cool armies and use coordinated strategies then play an RTS.

      One of the reasons I fairly quickly stopped playing Starcraft, just got disgusted by having like 80% of the games be my opponent doing a "5-7 minute all in push" strategy they got from some pro player for maximum efficiency in grinding ranks. If they won, great, they get to do it again and again and again for free wins. If I defended it they just instantly quit the game and gave me the win.
      Neither outcome was enjoyable since I rarely got to actually play the game.

      @@TheHuffur I think the worst rush I ever experienced was in 3v3 in the original Warcraft 3 way before Blizzard fucked it. Enemy team went all orc and sent all 15 of their teams starting workers straight to my base killed my workers and any thing I tried to produce or build and my 2 team mates just ignored my asking for help. They killed my main building then I saw them moving off to the next guy before my vision bubble went away.

    I mean, afghanistan is no worse off than before the west interceded. The idea was that the west would go in, force out the Taliban, to give the Afghan government time to establish order and stability and be able to defend themselves. They had 20 years, and the Afghani government were simply unable to create stability. What more could the west have done? At least now the Afghan people have an understanding of the kind of life that is possible outside of Taliban rule, and may one day revolt against them.
    To be clear, I am incredibly left wing and anti US foreign policy in almost every way - but the Taliban are just straight up evil. Now as for the US being the ones to fund their rise to power, that's a different story...

    • @ryanphillips5341
      @ryanphillips5341 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Corporations fund them, the military fight them. I agree with most of what you said but it is very sad for the young girls who only new US rule in places like Kabul. Now they will be raped and sent off to be married to some bearded extremist who has no interest in her future or interests. I think when you start something you should finish it. The west where there for 20 years!, why not just leave a small force?

    • @seanylewl
      @seanylewl 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      "At least now the Afghan people have an understanding of the kind of life that is possible outside of Taliban rule" - they kinda already did when the Soviets invaded, who btw also built schools and educated women, and yet the Soviets lost too. Ironically, partly thanks to America, who didn't seem to care too much about improvements in living standards when it didn't suit them.

    • @ArawnOfAnnwn
      @ArawnOfAnnwn 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ryanphillips5341 And with US involvement, a lot of those little girls would just die. Ever wonder why you're hearing so much about women's rights in Afghanistan now, but not the death toll of the war? It's not cos it's small - it's literally hundreds of thousands of Afghans, including women. Women's rights also didn't seem to matter much when the Russians invaded - America still sabotaged them. It's being trotted out now only cos it helps whitewash the war, making it seem moral. It isn't.
