He ended up donating a ton of money to MJF’s charity and bought 2 pairs. One to keep and one to wear. To this day they are the coolest pair I’ve ever seen!

    • @brandoncomer6492
      @brandoncomer6492 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@sentra2skyline141 yeah, I could. The math isn't even hard . 600k divided by 15 is 40k net. That's the equivalent take home of a 50k a year salary. My current net expenditures hover somewhere between 36-42k a year range, and that's with a mortgage and a car payment. I could sell the car and pay off the mortgage, eliminating it entirely. That would drop me down to around 450k with only a yearly expenditure in the realm of 25k net. 450k/25k is about 18 years, and that's without even counting the money you'd make off the 450k, which would be approximately ~15-20k annually tapering off slowly as you drew it down.
      There's a reason for the saying "it takes money to make money". Once get you up into the ~1.5-2m range the average American family could literally live indefinitely without working on compound interest alone.
      I'd recommend you take a finance class if this wasn't clearly obvious to you.

    Maybe I’m being too optimistic, but you would think with young guys coming into the league receiving exorbitant amounts of money for the first time in their lives, the NFL would have some sort of mandatory seminar players would attend that teaches you how to use your money wisely. It could include investment advice, management strategies, and testimonials from seasoned players sharing the financial mistakes they made with their money their first few years in the NFL (similar to what Kelce is doing here).

    I don't understand why these pro sports leagues don't have financial managers for 'newer' players. Something like requiring them to take a few hours of classes each week to protect them and their future. Giving a kid hundreds of thousands of dollars at once is a sure fire way for them to spiral out of control. Maybe ask them to take a portion of their earnings for rent food etc and the other put in a 'safer' account. I'm sure there are better ways to do this that benefits the league and the players.

I've always said that if i got a million dollars I could live comfortably for most of my life but if I was in my lower 20's and got a million dollars I would of probably spent it all before I turned 30. Now that I'm 38 and I got a million dollars I definitely think I could make it last until my retirement age. Now that I'm 38 I'm more wiser and don't have that feeling of trying to impress other people.

    I'm not asking for any sympathy obviously but sometimes people just don't know how to budget and if they don't get money regularly they'll over spend what they have thinking it won't run out. I remember checking my budget and somehow I spent $30,000 in 6 weeks and had nothing to show for it.

      It really is insane tbh. Even in a tiny poohole town, if you think about it. For example a Liter of Black Velvet costs $10, TODAY (Somehow it has cost the same amount unaffected by inflation for like 2 decades). There are 22 shots in a liter. Let's get crazy and say 1/3 of it is wasted on overpouring/spilling/etc, now you have 15 shots. Even with tiny poohole bar pricing, let's get crazy and call it happy hour, $2.99 shots of Black Velvet from 3-6pm, that's 15x3=$45. So you spent $10 to make $45 at the very least.
      And it doesn't level down the higher you go up in price. I think standard practice is even though there are 22 shots in a liter, a shot will cost about 15%-20% of the bottle.

    Some people think teachers get summers off paid. We don’t. We are paid for 10 months’ work and receive 12 (some get 24) paychecks.

    • @kianna270
      @kianna270 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah idk why people think this. Teachers only get paid in the summer if they elect to make their already small paychecks, smaller here where I live. My friend is a teacher for 5 years and her paychecks are less than she made serving… which she still has to do on the side to make money. The teachers make money argument is so stupid bc my friend literally gets an $800 paycheck during the summer. Woww!! Nothing like $800! Don’t spend it all in one place! 😅

    If I can go down to the local financial planner and put together a plan, certainly each NFL team can sit down with every player for the first three years and help them manage their money. It's this type of thing that make no sense. Let's spend millions of dollars making the draft stage look great but then once these kids are drafted let's spend zero dollars helping them with things like money, housing, cars.

    Really hating that my 14yr old son wears the same size shoe and has a Travis Kelce love of fashion and I don't have an NFL salary. I gotta learn to play football. They take 46yr old moms, right?

      You could help him find vintage stuff to sell at estate sales and goodwill. Your a bit younger than me but mom you lived the late 80’s and 90’s. You can still find old shoes, t shirts, etc and sell them to get the new size 13’s

      But you aren't automatically rich. I make well above 500k a year and actually its not life changing money even then. What you have to do is put back to back years of that salary to accumulate some real wealth.

    • @billballoo7881
      @billballoo7881 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Understand that one season doesn't make you automatically rich. Understand that a football career is shorter than most other careers. My point is that the majority of people out there make under 100K and some 30-40K. Thus, you would be hard pressed to find much sympathy from those who live paycheck to paycheck.
