    I just replaced the axle instead of the boot, but following along with the video helped me out a bunch!

    Waited 5 months for my kings through Peak. Interestingly enough Peak now sells HD CV boots claiming to be more than twice the thickness of the stock boots for $45.99 comes with clamps and grease.

      Empi C.V. Boot Kit #86-2326-D on evilbay for $15, same boot. This boot is listed for a H3 Hummer, I found them for $25 a pair.

    You skip the most critical part. Taking the axle apart.

    Nice video bro! Appreciate the tutorial. I just had this happen to my 19 yesterday. I noticed grease on my tiled garage floor and thought hmmm that's odd... crawled under to look and WOW my inner boot gave out and shot grease literally all over the damn place! 😂 9k miles on it... SMH debating just buying a whole new axle like you mentioned since I'm lifted as well.

    I have this same issue where can I buy the axle boot?

      Also now it's been 2 months is it holding well?

    • @chrisdz
      @chrisdz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Boot is holding up just fine.. peak suspension has replacements that are supposed to be stronger than stock.. but you can get stock ones from a GM part supplier..

      Awesome thanks for the fast reply. I'll look to order the parts and install as soon as they come in!

    How much lift did you have and were you running a diff drop before this?

    • @chrisdz
      @chrisdz  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      i have the rear add a leaf, and im not even level, and i do have a diff drop also.... my issue was that i lost the bolts that hold in the bottom of the shock while offroading (no clue how that happened) and the shock was rubbing against the CV boot

    So this happened to my 21 zr2 on the passenger side. I installed a leveling kit which raised it 1.5 to 2 inches around 3 months ago. I just found out the boot had torn and it made a mess everywhere, not knowing how long its been like that since the kit was installed. Does anyone know if there's permanent damage on the axel itself or can I still just get away by replacing the boot and grease itself?

    • @chrisdz
      @chrisdz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i am not a mechanic- but to the best of my knowledge on this: there IS a possibility that dirt got inside the axle and can cause premature wear. i would def replace the boot for now because thats a must and a cheaper option. make sure you clean the axle joint assembly really well when you go replace the boot. look and listen for signs of of wear in the axle.

      @@chrisdz thanks. I'll be replacing the axel as well as putting on thicker boots by peak suspension on both sides to avoid future problems

      @@twistedmetalworks1 hey man did you ever find out if the leveling kit is what caused your boot to rip? I have a ready lift leveling kit 1 1/4 inch and 33 tires and I keep tearing boots. Let me know man

    • @twistedmetalworks1
      @twistedmetalworks1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Aaron Medina never really found out. I changed the cv axle from the warranty and put another boot and it's been over a year and everything is good. So who knows. I heard the original boots are very thin and usually have that problem. I bought some after market ones that are 3x thicker in case

    Either got your coilover conversion cranked too high, or your DSSV caught it while it was bumping around.
    Good job rebooting.

    • @chrisdz
      @chrisdz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      even worse than that,... i lost the bolts that hold in the bottom of the shock... so the bottom slid out and hit the boot
