One thing to add: The reeds on the coins' edge was added to stop people in earlier times from shaving off precious metal. These reeds just remained on modern coins after, when the coins were no longer made of precious metal. So that is one thing to consider when stacking these coins; the reeded edge is a security feature, one of the first to be created among coins. If you're making large purchases of these coins, I'd take measurements in diameter and weight to insure that they haven't been machined down.
Does the edge of these coins look to have a seam going around the coin? I only have one, so nothing to compare it to. The coin looks great, but the Chinese are making casting counterfeits, which would have a seam.

Me and my buddy both stack. We treat it like a race so it's a challenge for us both to keep each other going and saving up assets. We both go and every few months buy a tube of 20 Philharmonics (sealed in mint tube) each, so two total. That brings the price over $1,000, and in my state, that makes it tax free. I enjoy the Phil's because they are a national mint recognized coin, not just generic bullion, but their premiums are extremely low compared to ASE, which admittedly, I am in love with. However, I only bought one tube at a time..lol. I don't have that kinda money... lol. I try to save and If I can afford it, I try to get full tubes when I can....
thx for the topic. As an european stacker i can say that the Philharminics and Arche Noas are the best bang for bucks here. The cheapest ASE i can find are usualle 0.30€ to 0.40€ above Philhamonics and Arche Noas. So, for stacking as much as possibly they are my first choice.
In Europe there seems to be two-three choices for cheap coins - not considering the current situation. Philharmonics, Krugerrands and Maples seens very close mostly Phils being the cheapest and Krugers at a close 2nd place. But I believe it's also a bit up to the dealer. My next purchase in silver bullion will be Krugerrands - because I haven't got any in my stack (mainly focusing on gold). I like to diversify a little as long as it is not at outrageous premiums. Hence I might also get some of the Australians at some point - but I'll stay clear of all the collectors and semi collectors stuff from dealers because premiums are too high. 2nd hand I'll buy any silver if I think the price is right. Btw. I do believe the silver Krugerrands got the "micro letters" security like their gold counterpart (since 2017 or so. I got a 2018 Kruger that positively has microletters).
In Croatia these are significantly cheaper than the alternatives, but there's VAT on silver, which aggravates our situation significantly compared to the USA.
I’d still prefer American eagles and maples for recognition and liquidity. But I might get some rolls of philharmonics some day when I reach my max or get board of maples and ASE 😉
Just an observation that I have made. The philharmonic doesn't have the reeded edge like the maple leaf or the ASE or a lot of other silver coins. It has smooth edges. I have one of those and I also have a silver panthera tigris coin from Laos (silver tiger). That coin also has smooth edges like the philharmonic. I like both reeded edges and smooth but I have noticed that most silver 1 oz coins (not including rounds) have the reeded edge. I think both designs are fine though.
Would you advise (as a non-financial advisor, of course) that UK citizens stack Britannia's over any other bullion coin due to Capital Gains Tax exemption? Philharmonics are beautiful looking, I'm just the thinking for long term investment within the UK
I'm new to buying silver and I tend to go back and forth between bars, coins and rounds based on price and for wanting to diversify. I like the coins because if the premium isn't too bad then you also have the ability for the coin to rise in price as well as the value of the silver. Am I correct in thinking that way or not? I'd appreciate any advice from those that have more experience than I do. Thanks in advance.
So I hear that all "they" care about is weight and melt value. Please make a video on why do they bother to put any picture in any ounce or troy ounce, besides to show where each of them are made?
I purchase a variety of government minted bullion. I purchase American Silver Eagles primarily, but I also purchase Britannias, Maple Leafs, Libertads, and Philharmonics.
What are the best coins to stack in Sweden 2022? I want something recognizable/trustworthy that could easily be used for barter in a SHTF scenario. Thanks! 😊
Do you have a video on that tax stuff of what needs to be reported and what doesn't? I'm thinking about starting up a stack again, it has been a long time.
Sticking with ASEs and 10 ounce bars for the forseeable future. And maybe a collector coin here and there. Thanks, bagg... er uhhh i mean dragons! PHEW 😅
Thought bullion coins were the lowest quality of the 3 types? Aren't they just silver blanks for melt value with just a pretty design? They wouldn't be collectable would they?
What do you think about the 25, 50, and 100 Schilling silver coins? They are 800 percent pure. I thought the Philharmonic was also 800 percent? Whats up? They are easy for me to get since I live in Vienna. They make great gifts. Thank for sharing.
So what are your thoughts about the Silver Krugerrands? I stack a lot of those, they're only a " One Rand" denomination, also with NO Queen..lol...cool video dude!

Whether a transaction is taxable is different than whether it is reportable on form 1099-B. You are correct that selling American Eagles does not require the dealer to report the transaction. It is still taxable to the extent that your sale price is greater than your purchase price. It will likely qualify for capital gains tax for most people who are collectors. I enjoy your videos! I am a new collector but an old tax professional.😀

So I guess I did pretty good and you just made me feel better about getting that last tube that I wanted to cancel because of something came up and I needed the money, but it all worked out and sent the payment later than normal..
I always learn something new from you and others from this great silver family/community.. 👍 Thanks again Silver Dragons 🐲✌🐊
That sale was if you bought a tube of 20 you actually paid for 19, because the deal was buy 19 and get one free and you could buy as many as you wanted! However, I only bought one tube at a time..lol. I don't have that kinda money... lol. I try to save and If I can afford it, I try to get full tubes when I can....
Bayou Bullion I love that buy 19 get one free deal! 🔥🐉
I love these. Actually, my first video was going to be on these, so I didn't feel a need to reinvent the wheel. Nicely done!
thx for the topic. As an european stacker i can say that the Philharminics and Arche Noas are the best bang for bucks here. The cheapest ASE i can find are usualle 0.30€ to 0.40€ above Philhamonics and Arche Noas. So, for stacking as much as possibly they are my first choice.
newheavyion very cool! stack on my friend!!! 🔥🐉
I have a tube of philharmonics. They have developed a lot of milk spots so be warned if that's an issue for you,
lastgameontheleft seems to be a common theme.... I wonder if the maples really spot more?!? 🔥🐉
Silver Dragons I have the new Maples with MintShield technology which supposedly prevents milk spots. After 5 months, I haven’t spotted anything, yet.
Beautiful coin. Can't get enough of them.
I have I think six of those. Maybe will get more. Thanks for the videos. What are some other good foreign coins?
In Croatia these are significantly cheaper than the alternatives, but there's VAT on silver, which aggravates our situation significantly compared to the USA.
I’d still prefer American eagles and maples for recognition and liquidity. But I might get some rolls of philharmonics some day when I reach my max or get board of maples and ASE 😉
Your max?
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
That's funny
So I just subbed 👍

Metal Bum yeah it’s nice to diversify 😁🔥🐉
Just an observation that I have made. The philharmonic doesn't have the reeded edge like the maple leaf or the ASE or a lot of other silver coins. It has smooth edges. I have one of those and I also have a silver panthera tigris coin from Laos (silver tiger). That coin also has smooth edges like the philharmonic. I like both reeded edges and smooth but I have noticed that most silver 1 oz coins (not including rounds) have the reeded edge. I think both designs are fine though.
I love your intro. Makes me feel good. I will check intolerant the coin. Thank you for the video.
Would you advise (as a non-financial advisor, of course) that UK citizens stack Britannia's over any other bullion coin due to Capital Gains Tax exemption? Philharmonics are beautiful looking, I'm just the thinking for long term investment within the UK
Yes, it is interesting, on the basis of philharmonics can compare the density of metals, silver 3.2 mm, gold 2 mm, platinum 1.8 mm
I diversify
Philharmonic
Krugerrand
Maple leaf
ASE
1.5oz Canada
Etc
I wasn't really interested in these Philharmonic coins until this video, now I'll probably grab a few...
Paul Rivera depends on who you are selling the silver to... these are all considered silver coins because they have a FV 🔥🐉
I purchase a variety of government minted bullion. I purchase American Silver Eagles primarily, but I also purchase Britannias, Maple Leafs, Libertads, and Philharmonics.
veritasfiles very cool! i’m ASE primarily as well 👍🏽🔥🐉
I live in Europe. My main coin is the Philharmonic because it is more recognisable for barter over here when SHTF.
kevin owen great reason to stack them! 🔥🐉
So basically, now? Lol
What are the best coins to stack in Sweden 2022? I want something recognizable/trustworthy that could easily be used for barter in a SHTF scenario. Thanks! 😊
Silver maples or the Austrian coin
first to like and I always love your streams, thanks for sharing again ,my friend.CAN'T WAIT FOR YOUR NEXT ONE
Juan Ortiz thanks a bunch!!! also I emailed you about your address 👍🏽🔥🐉
Man i wished i‘d spent my time watching these kinda videos… what were the prizes of one unze silver coin back then?
Do you have a video on that tax stuff of what needs to be reported and what doesn't? I'm thinking about starting up a stack again, it has been a long time.
Very interesting stuff.
Treasure Town Thank my friend! 🔥🐉
Sticking with ASEs and 10 ounce bars for the forseeable future. And maybe a collector coin here and there. Thanks, bagg... er uhhh i mean dragons! PHEW 😅
venictos lol... great plan 😁🔥🐉
what do you mean 3/9 vs 4/9 fine silver when comparing the Austrian/US vs Maple
Do you still like the phils? I think their premiums went up I’m gonna check it out.
Thought bullion coins were the lowest quality of the 3 types? Aren't they just silver blanks for melt value with just a pretty design? They wouldn't be collectable would they?
just grabbed my first stack of these on special this week over at SD.
I’ve got one on order. I like the design of it as well.
Kings Coins very cool and it is a nice design! 🔥🐉
What about mexican Libertads? Do you recommend stacking these coins?
Great information and enjoyed watching. Thanks and take care.
Clayton County History Hound thanks my friend! 🔥🐉
What do you think about the 25, 50, and 100 Schilling silver coins? They are 800 percent pure. I thought the Philharmonic was also 800 percent? Whats up? They are easy for me to get since I live in Vienna. They make great gifts. Thank for sharing.
Stefan Schleps I wouldn’t stack those unless you can get them under spot... this coin is 999 pure 🔥🐉
Just starting to stack the philharmonics because ASEs have such a high premium now!
So what are your thoughts about the Silver Krugerrands? I stack a lot of those, they're only a " One Rand" denomination, also with NO Queen..lol...cool video dude!
Bruce Liggett some day that are not coins because the “rand” also they milk spot as well... they are new but cool I have a few 🔥🐉
Only a couple Philharmonics in my stack.. They are cool haven't checked the premiums on them in years.
Nice vid SD 👍
Eddies Little Stack thanks my friend!! 🔥🐉
You should do a vid on "premiums" and the 10 commandments of precious metals investing.
Paul Rivera great ideas my friend!! 🔥🐉
Whoa!! What a beautiful Austrian Philharmonic Silver Bullion Coin! Now I do like the Queen though, I do like the Eagles BIG TIME! Philharmonic Coin new to me! Do you think it’s good for you to have a variety? Thanks for the time you give answering my comments! Being on a different time zone for me! Awesome Video! Keep it up! 🎈👍👍 V
V Yes its me it’s great. it’s great to have diversity! the ASE are still my fav 😁🔥🐉
Yea but what about milk spots?
For me the key is cheapest government issue tied with security features. The SML seems to have both. The Britannia too.
I got a whole tube of these Phils. I even had a 1/10 oz gold one but unfortunately I had to sell it. I think the early silver were in Shillings rather than Euros. I think have a one in Shillings in my safe but I haven't checked it lately.
Patty Frame you are correct about the capital gains tax and it is up to the person who made the sale to pay the tax... if they remember 😮🔥🐉
I tend to gravitate towards the maple, mainly for the milking issue. Dont like that milking
I have acquired many of these. The place I purchase these at sell these at the same price as generic rounds.
Does the Philharmonic have the silver purity on them?
for the first few years of stacking ,I bought ASE ,Libertads ,Queens beast , now Ive got many govt tubes ,I only buy rounds now ,cause you will only get spot for paying more for Govt coins . I also buy constitutional silver ,for fractional ...Its a waste of money ,and I know how to spot a fake by now ,so no need for anti counterfit gimmicks ...I get more silver per dollar ...
Michael Martin very good stack what you like my friend! 🔥🐉
@@SilverDragons47 :-)
I have a tube of Philharmonics. I'm currently liquidating my vinyl record collection of 30+ years and buying PMs. So the music theme is perfect for me.
Nice one man !
420coins thanks my friend! 🔥🐉
I have a few 1 oz silver philharmonic except it’s face value is in schillings.. looking online I can’t find anything on the schilling face value for silver only the gold coins.. anyone know anything about this?? Help would be appreciated
