    I can argue for 15-20% premiums. Everyone needs to make a living, and profit margins are necessary.
    When the premiums are 75-100% that's uncalled for. Especially when the buyback prices remain 5-10% over spot.

      @Tugela60 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Lol....Germany is only about 150 years old, their history is not that long. Germany did not exist prior to 1866.
      The mark (in various forms: at first the goldmark, then the papiermark, followed by the rentenmark, the reichsmark, and finally the deutschmark) was created in 1873. Prior to that most germanic states used various forms of either the thaler or gulden as their currency. The mark was used as a currency for about 126 years only.
      And btw, "Germany" is not the real name of the country, the proper name is Deutschland. The english word for the country comes from the Roman term Germania, which encompassed everything beyond the Rhine and should not be applied to the modern state.

    If there's that much variance in premiums, that just shows that premiums can be controlled by buyers to a certain extent. If EVERYONE does a concerted effort to stop buying high-premium items, but buys the lower premium items (or stops buying COMPLETELY), the premiums will come down. hahaah. It's all about FOMO in the precious metals market. I can even see from the comments on multiple pages that it's still alive and well. Lot of rhetoric about the US financial collapse, banking system failure, blah, blah. The US has been at this for over 50 years printing fake money and the world consuming it. You don't think their capable of another 50 years. lol With their eyes closed. Pricing was coming down and then we hear an unconfirmed story about a Female Billionaire buying $50M in metals and spot prices goes up $2 bucks. lol FOMO guys. In 3 years will be buying again with premiums under $2 bucks and spot back down under $20 any day of the week. Cheers

    I am an old man that wishes he had saved more gold than silver. The reason? I can stuff all of the gold in my pocket, but I would need a fork lift for the silver. If we have to bug out in a hurry I don't want to try lugging all of that silver. I bought it for a hedge, and not a game. Will it still be legal tender if the world economic forum has it's way and they want you tracked on all purchases? I also quit collecting years ago when silver was $3 premium. What happens when premiums drop significantly? You will lose your shirt.

    A fun collection is to purchase 1 Canadian Maple Leaf Silver Dollar from each year beginning in 1988. You should spare a thought for us European silver stackers, not only do we pay commission but we also pay 23% VAT on both the net price AND the commission (not on gold though, gold is VAT free)
    The commission on a 1oz gold Britannia is only 3.3%
    Commission plus VAT on a silver 1oz Britannia varies wildly depending on quantity
    Buying one it would be 49.3%
    Buying 500+ it would be 29.8%
    So your silver maples aren't really that expensive after all?

    I live in NZ and there is no LCS. I'm left with buying online which means I'm always overpaying- especially for items under $100 ......plus p&p. My strategy now is to buy high-value silver coins, slabbed, low mintage, collectors etc. Otherwise I would have to select several low value items into my cart to spread the p&p charges. If the value of the items exceeds NZ$1000 Customs and Excise will charge me 20% of the whole value. So, for me, I'm always paying over the top.
    Life happens.
    And I have some really beautiful coins.
