So, doing the math, $39 million dollars worth of gold on the spool in January 2016, when gold was $1100 per ounce, comes to about 35,500 ounces of gold. Today (11/1/20), with gold at $1902 per ounce, it'd be worth over $64 million.

In the past I always collected fractional gold eagles, but have now switched to austrian fractional gold bullion. For being a higher purity as well as lower price point this is my new favorite gold coin. Only have the 1/10 and 1/4 oz philaharmonic, and they are both absolutely stunning coins. The details on these are perfect and can tell they take pride in their coin making.
I will check this out, just on looks alone they haven't been my favorite, but with its lower premiums I will definitely consider a fractional piece for my next purchase! My number one choice has been the krugerrand, then the Britannia.

If each coin is an ounce gold coin, in Canadian terms, for each round containing 10 coins Is worth $28500 per round. Each tray consists of 9 deep 7 across for total of 63 rounds/10 coins per. Meaning just one tray of these gold planchets is worth $17,955,000. Looks to be about 9 complete trays there. SO just slightly under 17 million in Gold planchets in one scene alone, at the 7.03 mark. And that's just a drop in bucket compared to amount they are making, like wow! Actually my math is way off, there is a lot more there then one knows.

possibly. It depends on the size of a coin. You can definitely very easily make a dent in it with your keys for example. This softness of .999 gold is the reason why most wearable jewellery pieces (especially rings) are made out of .750 and .585 alloy
Even if the gold isn't that soft. the lack of quality control in this video has me flabbergasted. I expected a bit more "state of the art" and quality control
Quite impressive viewing the gold spool and all that gold. MS69s and MS70s, any imperfection of the coin can only be viewed under 8x magnifying lens. As someone who loves MS70s, just goes to show you how narrow the difference yet that little extra is so meaningful is numismatic coin pricing. But these are just bullion.
Absolutely fascinating, especially that these employees can shift around million-dollar buckets of coins like it's no big deal... And, I hope they get regular X-rays for obvious reasons...

This is the money the fed should be printing but they would have to call it minting. I bet the fed would not be buying crap if they were buying it with gold

An asteroid is more likely to wipe out mankind, than mankind is to mine it. It's an extremely silly idea, considering how Earth is the best source of heavy elements in the known universe and there are immense amounts of gold in the crust, mantle and the core, and yet mining it is barely profitable.
No obnoxious music, just the sounds of the shop floor. Perfect. Thank you.

thanks. we pushed for no background music on this video for that very reason.
This gold spool has an approximate value of 39 million dollars. He said, casually.
Fascinating - we don't see enough of these "behind the scenes" videos these days.

Great combination: Gold and the Vienna Philharmonic.
high quality manufacturing, final quality checks - and that woman drop coins on each other and scratch them. BRAVO!! no words, how it's redicilous
I think its cool that they make them the same diameter as their silver coins only a little thinner
Great content, excellent quality. Thanks.
I have a couple of these, beautiful coins for sure! This is very interesting to watch them being made.
Wow those minting rooms are sooooo much quieter than at the business strike facilities!
Outstanding passion & craftsmanship. 😀😍

Underrated comment 😂👍
I bet you have cameras all over the place watching everybody day and night.
Yeah it would be tempting 😳
Great video thanks again.
Where can I get that lens? 7:41
If I worked there for long enough, I'd probably couldn't hold back the urge to steal one some day.
What a very Beautiful place 👍
This video does NOT suck!
very intresting video ! thanks for sharing
Great video-my mouth was watering....
Seeing the coins being thrown around like that without denting makes me less worried about buying 24 karat instead of 22
God look 👀 at ALL that GOLD!! 🤩
I love gold
What is that weird ceremonial looking thing she is doing with the paper at 8:00? Some kind of static discharging or something?????
I think he said diffusing the light, maybe something to do with seeing scratches. Try reviewing at 6:58 +
Does striking the coin produce the ridges on the sides? Or is that added separately?
a seperate machine does the reeding, I couldn't see any on the coins in the video so I assume it's done after they inspect them for bad strikes
interesting video, thanks :)
I wish everyone who bought 1st strike coins would watch this
I just love to watch coins being minted. 😂😂
They want to pay double for something 'special'
Wonderful video

Amazing any of these grade 70 after being handled so much. after all .9999 gold is VERY soft.
possibly. It depends on the size of a coin. You can definitely very easily make a dent in it with your keys for example. This softness of .999 gold is the reason why most wearable jewellery pieces (especially rings) are made out of .750 and .585 alloy
no. gold is not that soft. it's a metal. it might scratch but nothing more. don't get confused by idiots telling stories of gold being like maoam
JAS0N888 it's not that soft, it's a soft metal but it's not like indium or something

Looking at this makes me realise gold is gold. The image is just a stamp. Silly really that people pay crazy money for that image.
Impressive!
are the dyes laser etched?
Yes. The die steel is mounted and a laser etches the design. It is then finished by hand.
The worlds best gold coins are minted in Canada. The first mint to reach. 9999 pure gold.
Did they sort out milk spots on their silver coins?
The spool in January 2023 is worth $66.35 million!
Vidéo très instructive merci

The way they handle and stack the coins, it isn't surprising that a typical MS70 strike picks up a nick that drops it to MS69.
Its a pity i only have the silver version 😩😩
You could a plastic one.
Get it plated or layered in gold.
Are those dye's tooled by hand? Or by a CNC machine? I would think a machine how can one person consistently create multiple matched perfect dye's?
CNC
*die
Look up how master/working hubs/dies are made and used.
What did they do to the damaged dies?
+Comrade Collects The damaged dies are destroyed, the metal is recycled.

control of the blanks?
Thank you.

very good video ;-)

good gold
If the gold is 24k, wouldn't they get bent with the tumbling and washing
+SilverStacking pro Not exactly. This is the standard practice for preparing gold blanks. We saw no bent or damaged blanks.
any bent will be flattened during pressing by tons of pressure between dies
gold is not that soft. nothing will bend..
Do you think gold is metallic butter or something?
i want one
get you one!
