After 39 years of denying him, I was saved on 14 Oct 2020 and I'm just starting my journey. I started in Revelations and moved to Genesis for my first dive into the Bible lol! I’m 31 and I’m about to get my first Bible . It looks like a very hard book but listening to you break it down makes it so much easier to already understand. I have felt so lost and confused not knowing what I’m doing and what to do In life. I just hope reading and studying the Bible helps me. When you said the Holy Spirit is in me I felt so emotional I started to tear up.. I have never felt like this watching a TH-cam video thank you so much for taking your time and making this easier.

Brad explains the Bible through various contextual lenses (e.g., culture, history, geography, language, etc). He also helps you see how the teachings apply to your daily walk. I thought I knew the Bible pretty well, but this resource has been amazing and I have learned so much. Brad releases an episode every Tuesday. Start with episode 1, which lays the foundation for the teaching series.

I keep it simple: A quiet place, start by praying by asking God to impress your mind with truth to send his Spirit to show you. Open His Word, start in theNew Testament, Matthew and slowly read thinking about it and what God wants you to understand. I journal and this is so important. Write about what you read. Make it real. Pray! You will grow in Christ. Do this everyday. Be consistent and your life will change.

I may have missed it, and apologize if you did mention it, but if you do another video add prayer! Prayer should definitely be in the top 6. Before you open your Bible you should pray for wisdom and understanding. Ask God to reveal to you the specific things he wants you to work on. I love your enthusiasm! Finally after almost 30 years of life and being a lazy Christian, I have read my Bible all the way through once. I am so excited to start my studying journey and really dive in! So weird. I woke up at 3 this morning. I opened up Facebook. I found the Prayerful Planner, started looking for info on it and found your channel. It was just what I needed! I am not a new follower, but I have never felt I knew how to study the bible, but I was proud to finish reading all words of the bible recently. Once done, I thought, now what? I need to somehow organize my thinking. With the Prayerful Planner and your tips I am excited to move forward. I hope I can journal my journey in a way that is memorable to me. I was looking through a powerpoint for a new curriculum I started using in my class lastnight. One sentence stood out to me- "nothing exceptional happens without enthusiasm." Thanks for your enthusiam, it is contagious!

I love the fact that you have done this, and your enthusiasm is great! You were close on the number of books in each part. The Old Testament, at 39, was correct, but you were just a few off on the New Testament. There are 27 books of the NT, bringing it to 66 books in total. Excellent to start people with the Book of John. I'm 74 and the first place my family took me was to church, but you are definitely correct: ALWAYS learning!

I have tried tried tried and tried so many times before to start reading the Bible. And never have I ever understood it before until just recently when I started learning how to pray, go to online church/mass every Sunday that it all made sense now. You don’t have to understand every single word, you just need to open your heart to God and he will make you understand what his words mean. It’s like he’s talking to you. It’s amazing.
#New Student! I’m late to this video, but it was helpful. I see you’ve posted many other ones for beginners. I became baptized in the LORD in 2013. Shortly after though I experienced many trials of faith that really made me feel ostracized and a failure of Christ Jesus. I visited a church after a particular trial and Pastor passed me off to the worship leader. The poor worship leader was not prepared for a sobbing person that day and it enforced my feeling of disconnection with Christ and the Church. Religious activities are still hard and I still tend cry to this day. It’s only recently I see those trials for what they are, trials. I naively thought sin could never touch me after baptism but Jesus has been moving in my soul every time I have opened a video sermon, or my bible and I have slowly come back to center around him. Over the years I have read New Testament in its entirety. I haven’t yet felt comfortable to be in Church where I feel myself as a failure acutely but online bible study has been effective in guiding me back home. Thank You Nicki.

But, I've learned more since I've had this tbi, in the past 3 years of returning..prodigal here. I plan on watching more. I love your energy! I can tell you are on fire for God and I love that! I’ve been to private Christian school for ten years with Bible study every morning and Pentecostal Holiness church and Assembly of God Church, but I turned my back on ‘Religion’ in hurt. I’m back with God for many years, but have grown closer and more consistent with him recently. I had never learned or I forgot, some of the tips you gave. Thank you for the video. Such a good video. I think I've read Genesis 20 times and not much past that with mo clue how to start. Many years of trying to figure it out. I finally found a good church but then the pandemic hit but I watch his sermons online. Anyway, this has got me motivated again instead of falling asleep, and info I never knew, so Thank You! I have to do it alone, I'm isolated in a city and don't like the churches around here. Though I can phone a Christian friend to discuss it. And thank you I was overwhelmed as to where and how to start, as for example the first verse in John explains itself.
I started at the beginning and studied chapter by chapter and that worked so so well for me. So I wouldn’t say don’t start at the beginning because it does work for some people

Would like to learn more about that. I just started to bible journal during covid-19 am using an ESV. Since then I have purchased 2 more journaling bibles, an A6 compact bible and a B6 NLT. I like your enthusiasm in teaching how to study the bible. You said that God doesn't have a body. God does have a body though. Jesus IS GOD MANIFESTED IN THE FLESH....John 1:1-14 explains this. You are right, it does not matter which book of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) you start in. They all will explain so much to you. I like to start with John because John was the closest to Jesus. John was called the Beloved. Once again, you are correct, it is not a good thing to take just one verse. You should always read two or three scriptures before and after the one scripture you are looking at to see what is actually being said. Keep up the great work!!! God Bless!!!

What is your personal opinion on Bible study methods like S.O.A.P. where you take just one verse and study it according to a particular method's acronym that one might use to study the Bible? I think that kind of 'study' is a devotional and not a true study of the Bible, that being said though SOAP or any other way to go through one verse is great for a quick read, reflect, respond!! But to study requires more than just one verse 🥰 I use my new Daily Scripture Writing Book on Amazon to do my morning devotional and I really like it!!

I have another question for you if you've got a moment: I've heard it said, and I believe you even said it in this video, that it's always best to study with other people. Well, I don't have friends anymore, and so I don't have anyone to study the Bible with, and now I'm at home because of the pandemic. I've tried studying the Bible on my own twice with the help of a book. First, "How To Study the Bible For Yourself" by Tim LaHaye and several years later, "Living By the Book" by Howard and William Hendricks. However, both books turned out to be huge disappoints for me and did nothing to help me to understand how to study the Bible. Do you have any tips on how a person in my position can learn and understand how to study the Bible on my own in a simple yet effective way? Thanks Nicki.

I was brought up Roman Catholic, but for decades now, have believed in a higher power, but am questioning things, and not sure if there is a God, etc. I am studying up, gaining insight, etc...they say knowledge is power, you know,... the more you know...along with my notetaking, my bible reading, learning from other bloggers, etc, I continue my quest. Such a good video. I think I've read Genesis 20 times and not much past that with mo clue how to start. Many years of trying to figure it out. I finally found a good church but then the pandemic hit but I watch his sermons online. Anyway, this has got me motivated again instead of falling asleep, and info I never knew, so Thank You! I have to do it alone, I'm isolated in a city and don't like the churches around here. Though I can phone a Christian friend to discuss it. And thank you I was overwhelmed as to where and how to start, as for example the first verse in John explains itself.

Beginner Student - Thank you so much for explaining how the bible is set up it was very helpful. I found your channel from searching on bitty bible journaling. That was so cool to see. Would like to learn more about that. I just started to bible journal during covid-19 am using an ESV. Since then I have purchased 2 more journaling bibles, an A6 compact bible and a B6 NLT. I like your enthusiasm in teaching how to study the bible. You said that God doesn't have a body. God does have a body though. Jesus IS GOD MANIFESTED IN THE FLESH....John 1:1-14 explains this. You are right, it does not matter which book of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) you start in. They all will explain so much to you. I like to start with John because John was the closest to Jesus. John was called the Beloved. Once again, you are correct, it is not a good thing to take just one verse. You should always read two or three scriptures before and after the one scripture you are looking at to see what is actually being said. Keep up the great work!!! God Bless!!!

I think that kind of 'study' is a devotional and not a true study of the Bible, that being said though SOAP or any other way to go through one verse is great for a quick read, reflect, respond!! But to study requires more than just one verse 🥰 I use my new Daily Scripture Writing Book on Amazon to do my morning devotional and I really like it!!

I've heard it said, and I believe you even said it in this video, that it's always best to study with other people. Well, I don't have friends anymore, and so I don't have anyone to study the Bible with, and now I'm at home because of the pandemic. I've tried studying the Bible on my own twice with the help of a book. First, "How To Study the Bible For Yourself" by Tim LaHaye and several years later, "Living By the Book" by Howard and William Hendricks. However, both books turned out to be huge disappoints for me and did nothing to help me to understand how to study the Bible.
Do you have any tips on how a person in my position can learn and understand how to study the Bible on my own in a simple yet effective way? Thanks Nicki.

A good Gospel to start with is John. It is a little different than the others. Mark is the shortest gospel. You might need a good study Bible.
