so beautiful and clear - calms my mind and confirms what i know so gently - all my struggles disappearing more and more and good to see they were shared with so many other seekers. Strange, such wonderful answers to questions were always offered, but it seems i can only now really listen and understand. i seem to not have my hand so firmly stuck in the fruit jar anymore and this frees the intellect.

Thank you Swamiji. Here is what I got from your Q/A with Sam. > Ignorance is a problematic human issue that is beginning-less. Ignorance is the very mask upon the actor who is actually beyond birth and death. it is the mask which the human sees in the mirror and looks out through while wearing it in fear of death as the end of beginnings. However, knowing what I actually am, beyond ignorance, while still wearing the mask, is not actually a human knowing. It is to give up endings and beginnings dichotomy - to recognize who is actually endless and beginning-less rather than being the one who can't quite get "beginning-less".

Thank you swamiji!! Another beautiful talk. I came across a very unique explanation by Swami Krishnananada, a disciple of Sivananda Maharaj about why this Universe is created. He says, Brahman is expanding to infinite possibilities of manifestation from the smallest to the largest dimensions out of pure joy. i,e to see how far or near it(Brahman) can be stretched and the infinite possibilities in permutation and combination in between, before devolving back to potential.

Thank you Swamiji for your profound explanation of difficult topics of vedanta
But I have an humble request to you swamiji
First of all I would like to introduce myselves
    I am from Kerala, India
And I am very much delighted to be born in the birth place of Adi Shankaracharya
And to say about kerala it's culture is deep rooted in vedanta though we don't recognise it.
Our tradition, social values and everything has a profound influence of advaita vedanta.
And this can be seen in our hospitality, religious tolerance and so on
But unfortunately today everything is loosing from our land.
    Society is becoming unjust.
Politicians are doing filthy actions and are spoiling the traditional values that were upheld by our ancestors.
Violence in every respect is increasing day by day.
Our youth are mislead by educationalists who have vested interests
In the wake of these happenings what Kerala needs is spiritual renunciation.
We need to acknowledge our children about the great vedantic tradition of kerala
Vedantic society of New York is doing a great service by uploading swamiji's lectures in youtube
So that those seeking pure knowledge like us can get blessed with these talks
But sad news is that there is no concrete effort in kerala to preserve its tradition
Kerala needs organisations such as vedantic society of New York to inculcate our youth about vedantic teachings
If swamiji could come to kerala and give a talk it would have been a great privilege
I wish one day he would come and give a talk

    Q&A question to Swamyji..
Thank you and your team to bring enlighted lectures and QnA sessions..Earlier you mentioned people learn lessons by karmic experiences..what kind of karmic lessons one can learn when someone, suffering with Alziemers or dementia..and can subtle body (mind) carry any sankalpas of spiritual/soul realization..for instance someone understood concepts of advaita/nondualism but due to memory loss apart from forgetting family members if he forgets all spiritual knowedge gained through his life accumilations..how he will handle in future births..does he need to start from scratch?..This is Dr.Surya pavan Yenamandra from Singapore..Thanks for enlightening us and inspiring us with your beautiful lectures..you carry great humor that makes it more interesting..daily i listen your lectures in sound cloud and youtube for atleast 3-4hrs..Thank you for your service..

Hari Om. Re the the first question about difference between mind and intellect Swamiji has very clearly explained the difference. A follow up question. In the scenario described by the questioner from California, he states that the mind is oscillating between concentration and other thoughts. To the question of "Why Maya?" ... can the answer be (on the lines of what Swamiji is saying) "Because of that question to know the cause".
At first there was only awareness, but the mind asked Why...and Maya unfolded. The nested network of causation.

my answer to maya question : say 0 is consciousness does not express and 1 is that it does express then there are two possibilities. Both possibilities need to exist and not exist at the same time. Think of this way, we can't have any possibility left out. The moment we leave a possibility, we'll have an unanswered why. So, consciousness has to appear and not appear at the same time. Next question will be that why does our mind think of two possibilities?

    Swamiji,..Pranam.
May i humbly ask ,.whether we can consider Consciousness as a form of Energy.?
Similarities are there between the two...quite too many!
The Sciences, the Neuroscience in particular, and others in general,.are progressing like never before.
If some day, it can be proved, that the Consciousness is the energy,..albeit in a different form(Maya?)..will it obey Einstein 's famous equation?
    Please enlighten.

SRF specifically reveres Jesus, Krishna, Lahiri Mahasaya, Sri Yukteswar and there founder Paramahansa Yogananda as well as Saints everywhere. I personally think Swami Vivekananda and Shree Ramakrishna would be quite important to study. I find their program/path a bit formulaic - not as comfortable with it - and not as good as this channel of Vedanta put forward by Ramakrishna and Vivekananda but perhaps that is just me.

    34:41
Why universe exist at all if consciousness is complete in itself?
    Answer
Do you think consciousness or God will create anything?
Do you think God must be having any desire to create anything?
    There are two statements here.
    1. If universe is created then God must be incomplete in itself hence he created Universe to make him complete
    2. If God is complete in itself then why he will create universe? That means universe is not created!
I think 2nd statement is True. Hence universe appears to be created but in reality, it doesn't exist at all.
    What's your opinion?

The answer to the final question Sam is asking about why it all started in the first place, which Swami Sarvapriyananda says Advaita has no anwer to, due to a 'gap' in Advaita between Brahman and ignorance/Maya, is only to be found in the non-dualistic system by Jesus in A Course in Miracles. No other system or any other teacher has ever been able to answer it profoundly. It is the deepest question of all and if anyone wants to know ACIM has the answer. Just a hint to all my brothers and sisters out therer who like me has been looking a lifetime for the nondualistic 'logic' in this seeming paradox! I promise you... the answer is there...

Vedanta ref to End of Knowledge, which is best understood when explained by the author of Vedanta, Lord Sri Krishna [ Ref B Gita 15:15 ].
    " sarvasya cāhaṁ hṛdi sanniviṣṭo
    mattaḥ smṛtir jñānam apohanaṁ ca
vedaiś ca sarvair aham eva vedyo
    vedānta-kṛd veda-vid eva cāham
sarvasya - of all living beings; ca - and; aham - I; hṛdi - in the heart; sanniviṣṭaḥ - situated; mattaḥ - from Me; smṛtiḥ - remembrance; jñānam - knowledge; apohanam - forgetfulness; ca - and; vedaiḥ - by the Vedas; ca - also; sarvaiḥ - all; aham - I am; eva - certainly; vedyaḥ - knowable; vedānta-kṛt - the compiler of the Vedānta; veda-vit - the knower of the Vedas; eva - certainly; ca - and; aham - I.
I am seated in everyone's heart, and from Me come remembrance, knowledge and forgetfulness. By all the Vedas, I am to be known. Indeed, I am the compiler of Vedānta, and I am the knower of the Vedas"
Here He asserts definitively that the real object of Knowledge is He Himself & He is easily known by doing His bhakti- devotional service.[ Ref B Gita 18:55 ]
    " bhaktyā mām abhijānāti
    yāvān yaś cāsmi tattvataḥ
    tato māṁ tattvato jñātvā
    viśate tad-anantaram
bhaktyā - by pure devotional service; mām - Me; abhijānāti - one can know; yāvān - as much as; yaḥ ca asmi - as I am; tattvataḥ - in truth; tataḥ - thereafter; mām - Me; tattvataḥ - in truth; jñātvā - knowing; viśate - he enters; tat-anantaram - thereafter.
One can understand Me as I am, as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, only by devotional service. And when one is in full consciousness of Me by such devotion, he can enter into the kingdom of God.
So, brothers..! I Do not wish to be misled by these bogus, confused, Brahmavadi Vedantists who are blind & leading the other blind to the ditch of repeated birth & death.
    Jay Sri Krishna

swamiji's i have a question, as there is only one consciousness pervading in whole of the universe, then why not everyone gets enlightenment when only one of us gets enlighten.?

From what I understand, the consciousness does not need enlightenment, it is our mind or our false ego that needs it.

Ignorance: So in the beginning, consciousness knew nothing, and manifestation is the process of learning? And the remaining ignorance is what generates mistakes and bad karma?

    • @Octavus5
      @Octavus5 6 ปีที่แล้ว

"Knew nothing" == Nondual state. To "know" is to be dual. "Learning" is dual. "Ignorance" is dual. "Learning" is actually the same as "ignorance", conceived differently. When you are enlightened, "no mistakes, no karma". When you are "ignorant", then there are "mistakes and karma".

What was the mistake of the first creature, animal or, let me say, of the first man of the world? He had not done any karma before. When one had not done anything before, why did the first creature suffer?

To experience life..taking birth is necessary..so some take birth as mineral, plant, animals, some human..
At our core,we are sat chitta n bliss. It's only because we identify with our body, mind that we feel separate from Brahman. If we shift our focus from creation to Brahman we can see the whole picture.

All due respect to Swami Ji. But why Maya? the question is not wrong at all. To answer this question you have to be a pure devotee of the Lord. This question is already answered in Srila Prabhupad's books. Any ISKCON devotee can answer this question. Anyone who seeks to get the answer to this question, I would like to recommend them to visit their nearest ISKCON center. Hari Bol!!

It seems like swamiji is morphesus explaining the matrix to me...although it seems plenty similarity i found...
Like he in that movie morphesus tells neo u can't understand matrix untill it shown to u..
    Just clay and pot anology..
Where clay is super computer final matrix is pot...
Plenty of time morphesus says to neo don't think u r.... Knowu r...
Just like swamiji says u r the brahma the consciousness... What meditation does is just remove what u r not...
Just morphesus tells neo plenty of time that know u r the one...
All I m doing is helping u in the path of realising it...
Ok i know its bit absurd but that just me...
    What do u think?

Yes absolutely the makes of matrix read Vashist yoga or Vedanta non dual text .read about makers of this movie they are purely influenced by Hinduism. At the movie end they also chant Sanskrit mantra
      ओंम् शांति।

Maybe it's too late to ask this question, given it was 2018. I think there is another unasked question here as to why is there maya or anything at all. That is, why is there Brahman? That is to say, why must there be existence or Being? Simply stated, why not nothing? Yes, I am questioning the Absolute. Why is there an Absolute and not nothing at all?

Its like asking why fire is hot, ice is cold, water is wet? Like asking why existence exists? Existence is intrinsic nature of Brahman…. Brahman is Existence, consciousness, bliss.

@40th min... if Maya is beyond causation then... is it eternal Like Brahman...
so is the projection of the world is also eternal?
then this world is also eternal??
or is it like no projection when pralaya comes...??
what is the true nature of Maya???

    • @Beginnerarttutorials
      @Beginnerarttutorials 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

In the 20th minute approx swamiji explains the clay pot metaphor for universe / maya and Brahman. Another useful example may be shadow and body. Is shadow eternal? As long as the body remains the shadow remains ( taking it as an example of these two elements only, not the physics of light etc). Does shadow get projected by body? Yes. Does the body create the shadow? Yes. Body: Brahman, Shadow: maya.Maya is name and form accorded to “all things” that essentially only exist due to Brahman , things are shadow as they have no substance apart from existence-consciousness-bliss. Hope this helps

    • @Beginnerarttutorials

POORNIMA CHIKKALINGAIAH : my understanding is that it’s not an intrinsic property because Brahman can exist without Maya. It’s a power of Brahman. Space time causation exist within brahman.

Swami ji ,Is each individual or jeeva will meet after death to each other like Brahma Kumari said?

    • @barkhaagarwalla
      @barkhaagarwalla 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The teachings of Brahma Kumaris pertain to duality (dvait). Subject and object. Atma and parmatma. Thoughts, actions and result. While Vedanta is all about advait. One reality. Only parmatma or brahman or any other name you want to give.

    • @barkhaagarwalla
      @barkhaagarwalla 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Ruby Badilla you are right. I did not write advaita Vedanta but that’s what I meant because that is what we are talking about here. One reality.

I know non dual Vedanta say only one reality so consciousness is same but when Swamiji and all religions like Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism accept rebirth concept so my question, Is subtle body meet together after rebirth ?

  • @86pannu
    @86pannu 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Here is my understanding, let me tell you:
    A. Biologically, there is no consciousness/awareness source/sources in the human brain or central nervous system nor will there ever be one found. Also the similar first person/own experience that we all have including clearly (by their obvious responses to various stimuli) lower forms of life including plants, bacteria and even the damn viruses clearly suggest consciousness/awareness is not intrinsic to organisms given the completely different cellular structures we all possess.
    B. Philosophically, there is no argument to be had against Brahman as Brahman is the cause of causality. Questioning Brahman if you understand it correctly is like asking chicken or egg first question or if you can understand this, try any whole number (this apparently real universe) divided by zero (Brahman) gives you the answer ERROR.
The above arguments point towards the reality if you can grasp it.
