Thanks for the comparison! I only have DiGiGrid IO but I am very happy with it. The IOX are perfect for wired inears as they have 4 headphone outs. I have a few of them distributed across the stage and one at FOH so I do not need to have analoge sub snakes. They are even more cost effective compared to other options. They have high quality preamps as well. Never had any issues.
Hi Joe, does the ionic aes input can receive aes signal from other sound processing device that has aes signal from its output (like axe fractal audio axe fx 3) and can be routed to some channels in the mixer ?
Yes it can. BUT … you need to sync the clock of the two devices. So just make sure that the pedal/amp/whatever use the clock from the aes. If you don’t there will be some strange noises.
Hey Joe, have you ever had a problem with your Tactus Stage muting all inputs until you change the gain on one of the input channels? I have, and it's rather unnerving to have a whole box worth of inputs suddenly go silent. I find myself not using the Tactus, and sticking to my STG's instead...just because of this issue.
Oh, that's a new one. Never heard of this but it sounds a bit scary. I get that you're sticking to other boxes. You really have to trust your gear doing what we do.
I wish that Ionic had 8 outputs on the back. That would make it 16 by 16. I also wish that the rack ears were reversable. That way you could mount it backwards in a rack and have a splitter wired to it much easier. It would make wiring my external inserts that I used cleaner. I love the Ionic, I just wish It had more outputs on the back. They could even fit 2 AES in and outs on the back and still have room for 8 analog outs.
I have the Digigrid D (not IOX). I find both Tactus and Ionic to be better. I’ve not made any in depth comparisons but the D feels like a cheaper unit. Not bad, just not as good.
I tried to get a Tactus Stage before buying my SG4000. I was told by multiple distributors that it was discontinued. I also reached out to Peavey multiple times to confirm but got no response. From my perspective, all evidence points to it being a discontinued product. Maybe someone else can confirm otherwise 🤷♂️.
Thanks for this comparison. How are the headphone outs on the Ionics?
Nice audio examples. Thx.

The 4 HP outputs is a great feature on those boxes. Nice with a variety of options to fit multiple needs.

@@joevegna do you mean that amp modeler aes has to be sync to ionic and ionic as its master clock? how many channel does ionic aes input can have ?
Exactly. The Ionic has 2 channels aes in one one xlr. So basically one stereo in.

Agree 100%. So keep an eye on the Waves website. Who knows, they might have thought of that 😀
did you work with digigrid IOX? how would you compare it to ionic?

I also heard that it has been discontinued. But it’s available at some places. Could be old stock maybe. Too bad because it’s an excellent box.
This interface box is not very stable
Which one do you find unstable?

I had some channels die on me, but after having it on service it has been rock solid. However I trust the Ionic more than Tactus.
