I have this same Leonardo, and I LOVE it! Thanks for the comparison.

Two very attractive pens. But this is the value of having reviews - to look at, it's difficult to determine which pen may be the better, but hands on experience tells the fuller story.

When I received my Leonardo I was very happy with the quality of manufacturing. The Tibaldi honestly seems on par with Penbbs, yet it costs more than the Leonardo.

I am a sucker for Mediterranean Acrylics. I say Mediterranean because I like to include Kilk (Turkey) by default when I think of Italian acrylic pens. I think I just like gaudy accessories. Anyway, it just seems like there are two tiers of Acrylic pen manufacturers along the Mediterranean. They all make visually great pens but, in my experience they are easily separated into the group that pays attention to fit & finish (Leonardo, Marlen, Montegrappa, Aurora, Kilk, Stipula, Gioia) and those that say "good enough" (Tibaldi, Molteni, Maiora, Pineider). Your video seems to support this. I left Visconti out because my sample size of one (Homo Sapiens) told me they are great but I have heard and read about many times where that wasn't the case. I have similar feelings about Nettuno. I like my 1911 but the dark plating started to come off the trim after about 18 months. It was repaired under warranty for $10.50 in shipping and has otherwise been great, but......
Now I want the red MZ. My wallet thanks you.

My personal experience mirrors yours precisely. The Leonardo pens are simply significantly better. I have had some difficulty with writing quality with the stiff nib from Tibaldi. Tibaldi is not terrible. I did not sell it; I just do not love it. :)

It’s a shame about the tribaldi. I have the infrangible fine steel nib which writes wet and well. But having bought a nettuno 1911 at the same time I think the nettuno is a smoother writer. I have not succumbed to the leonardo pens yet. Will I buy another Tribaldi - probably not. It was good but no cigars….. nettuno I will.

Reviewers can only comment on the individual pens they have received, and so the comments can only be based on those experiences. I have many Leonardo pens; quality control has been better on some than on others, and I've even gotten some bum nibs that are nearly unusable. I worry sometimes that they are falling into the trap of gorgeous Italian pens that don't write so well. Tibaldi is not as well known, partly due to smarter marketing on Leonardo's part, but it is an Italian company with a long history that has now been revived. They offer the advantage of all-ebonite feeds and their nibs are made in-house. I'd suggest checking online reviews on retailer sites before drawing firm conclusions. Also, Diamine Writer's Blood is the wettest ink I've ever used, so I have to wonder if the comparison of wetness is a fair one.

      1) Kerry drew a conclusion on that one Tibaldi, and she stresses that. It's that one specific Tibaldi she had in hand to which she gives a 6/10.
      2) I have Diamine Writer's Blood, and depending on the pen in which I put it, WB feels either dry and doesn't coat the nib, or feels very wet to the point of thickening the line as it spreads beyond the tines.
      3) Even if the Tibaldi has an ebonite feed, Kerry's pen had to be tinkered with to get more ink to the nib; this, in itself, is very bad since the pen has an ebonite feed; had QC been there for that pen, it never would have happened. I find her giving 6/10 was justified.

You must not be reading the comments or maybe just don’t care. Because it’s quite weird how you insist (this is the third straight time) on calling the feed of the Tibaldi pen plastic, when I have pointed out each time that it is not plastic but is in fact made of ebonite. Tibaldi advertises it as such. And so do the retailers I have seen selling the Tibaldi pens, - including Goulet.
Also, Tibaldi makes their nibs in-house. That is also well-known by now. You don’t know that either? You may not like the pen much, but these details should not be ignored.
I don’t own a Leonardo pen yet, but I have tried out a few.. I think I’ve hesitated to buy one because I have read quite a few complaints about the inconsistency of their nibs, i.e. needing fixing and adjusting out of the box.
I’ve decided to buy the Tibaldi N60 later this month.

I think both videos were filmed at the same time, which may explain the repeated inaccuracies. Nonetheless, reviewers do have significant influence over public opinion, and it is a shame when these inaccuracies are perpetuated... particularly when the review is ultimately negative. It would be nice if these factual fixes were added via on-screen text.

@@mojavejoe190 Reviewers do get things wrong...but also have a responsibility to do as much basic research as is feasible when reviewing an unfamiliar brand (in my opinion, anyway). Even if that means delaying the post.

@@marilyngardner4269 ..I just don’t know, Marilyn. In the ‘first impressions’ video, she said she was going to do full review ‘sometime soon’. Then, the review of the pen came sooner than expected. In that video she said she was also planning on doing the comparison with the Leonardo pen. It sounded to me like the videos were planned and done separately. But all three videos came in very quick succession. So, I reckon you may be right, i.e. they were probably filmed at once - or not??
In any case, it’s pretty annoying to hear the same significant mistakes repeated thrice about the same pen, a pen she clearly cares little about and rates poorly as a 6/10. That is not fair on the viewers and potential buyers. It’s been obvious for a while (though I seldom watched Kerry’s videos anymore) that she probably doesn’t read the comments too often, and certainly rarely, if ever, replies to any.
Oh well, I have the pen and like it much. That’s all that matters.

@@sajjadhusain4146 I've seen reviews from some other TH-cam reviewers who seem to have a less dim view of Tibaldi pens. It does come down to personal opinion, I suppose, but I am guessing that 6/10 is a bit on the harsh side.

@@marilyngardner4269 Oh, certainly. Reviewers often misspeak and err with their facts in pen reviews. Sometimes corrections are made in edits or in a follow-up video.
The mistakes about the Tibaldi pen that Kerry made are too basic, yet important, and hence quite inexcusable. It’s so lazy and disappointing, for example, to say after three videos with the same pen that she still doesn’t know who makes the steel nib on this pen. Just doesn’t cut it, does it?
