I am sold! The fact that an Italian company is willing to collaborate with jonathon brooks and engage with the community (even though I really didn’t care for primary manipulation) speaks a lot about their passion.
I have ordered a Leonardo Furore Grande Blue Hawaii. I can't wait to receive it and write with it. Thank you for giving us this peek behind the scenes to see how these beautiful pens are created. I love that it is a family business.
A wonderful video. Great to see the manufacturing process. I hope they are in business for many years. Good prices, good materials. Fantastic location. Lovely people.
Thank you so very much! Your hard work means your own brand is now appreciated worldwide, and you richly deserve that recognition. As a former professor, I recognize that passion, which is held in common by those who would create treasures. From a fountain pen to be handed down from one generation to another as a precious treasure to instruments that help us pen special messages for those special moments in life, each of you excel. You also make me realize that the price I paid for my Leonardo Momento Zero was actually amazingly low considering how much went into creating the beautiful pen. May God continue to bless those of you who invest your heart and soul in creating such joy. I remember you now each time I pick up one of these treasures.
I just watched this with my 10 year old son. He is fascinated with my fountain pens and really enjoyed watching the process for making my Momento Zero Grande. I will pass it on to him one day. 😉
I have a beautiful Leonardo Momento Zero Grande in sand. It is a wonderful pen. Really beautiful and a fantastic writer. I plan to get a few more. Best pen made in today's world. Thank you for a great video.
Joost, your so bless to be able to get to go to this amazing pen manufacturing company. God willing one day I will purchase one of these pens from you, they are high in pen but then look at all the craftsmanship that is put into this fountain pen. Thank you just for taking the time and sharing such an event which was spectacular.
Purchased my first LEONARDO FURORE and I m allready in love with my beauty. Love the finish, the quality of the pen. The nib is the smoothest I ever experienced (and I m a fountainpen user since 1 day in school 37 years ago). I have the Aquapetra and the turkos/violet colour is so beautful. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💙💙💙💙💙💙
I have a Leonardo momento zero grande ebanite rosewood Limited edition (I have number 1/100) and, after about 6 months that I write with it I can say you that this is a wonderful fountain pen. Ciao from Italy
Thank you a lot for this video. I already knew the people behind the brand and also some of their models that I've been lucky enough to review. Great brand, great people and this made me enjoy them a lot more. Thank you for this video and thank you to Leonardo Officina Italiana for keeping the passion alive among users and collectors. All the best for all, Joost, Salvatore, Maria Francesca and Ciro!
Wow great video! I own a Leonardo green fountain pen and it is exquisite! I feel very lucky that I own one. Purchased it from the Toronto Pen Shoppe in Toronto. I’ll be buying two more in the near future. Italian craftsmanship is exceptional.
I have several Leonardo Pens, and I love each and every one of them. This company is by far my favorite pen brand, as they not only have stunning pens of fantastic quality, their customer service is top notch! I have 12 Leo’s and well I am on my way to number 14 on my next jump. (As I am slightly superstitious 😂)
Wonderful video, Joost! It is so nice to see the Matrones in their workshop environment and the various processes at work. Marvellous writing instruments.
This is such a fantastic video, Joost. I actually stumbled upon it while looking at some Leonardo pen reviews. It really makes me treasure my Leonardos so much more. Thank you for putting it together.
I just got a Momento Zero in plum today, these steel nibs write so smooth, I can't believe they are not made of gold! Now I'm looking to buy a Momento Zero Grande in orange or blue.
@@AppelboomPennen I already googled it... :) Thank you for your reply ! By the way…, Happy Fountain Pen Day to you and your team ! On this occasion I offered myself a Leonardo Furore Smeraldo. I love it !:)
Thank you for this marvelous video. It makes me appreciate the Leonardo company even more. I have several of their pens and treasure them all. One of the first pens I purchased did not have a good nib, and I was then sent a replacement which was also not good. I was too embarrassed to complain again, particularly since all these shipments were coming to me in the U.S., but someday I will send that pen off to a nibmeister. I understand that these early nib issues have now been resolved, and I am the proud owner of several Leonardo pens.
Thank you for the informative video! I love Leonardo pens and it was very interesting to see how they are made. There's really a lot of care and attention to detail in their production. Beautiful.
Joost, thanks for make this video, from the music, your tone of voice, image, all well done; for the Leonardo, what i can said, they're elegant and with that Italian style, I hope to buy one soon.
I am waiting for the Grande purple which i got from you on FPD. After this video, im ever more keen to lay my hands on that.. lot of passion into this work by the family and the team.
The most important aspect of this assembly is that the Boss inspects and writes with each pen before shiping. The rest is good, but is useless without the hands of the owner
That's rather intense, Joost - & as far as I am concerned, justifies the expenditure that is passed onto the potential purchaser. Quality control (clearly) is one of the key elements to this process. All I can say is, impressive !! Thank you for sharing this incredible journey :)
Great video ... thanks Joost. I am always fascinated by the manufacturing techniques used to make our favorite writing instruments. This is no exception! I have to admit that my eyes grew large when I thought I spotted something at 3:17 ... for I moment I thought the label on the polisher was 'OMAS' ... alas, it read 'OM48'. Anyways, I still love all my Italian made pens. :)
@@AppelboomPennen Could very well be. If so, it's nice to see some of their machinery continuing to be used in the production of modern pens, well into the 21st Century.
Dear Appelboom Pennen, at the 1:20 time mark, the Owner shows a sheet of some beautiful material. Could you tell me - what it is called and where can I buy this stuff? Thank You. Konstantin.
Great video, fascinating to see. Thanks to Appelboom for sharing and to Leonardo for opening their door! Really beautiful craftsmanship and wonderful products. Leonardo pens are also famous for their very elegant thin cap rings. We don’t see the process in this video. Are they homemade too (laser cut, polished and plated)? Or simply purchased externally? Again, thanks for your work! Cheers, Henri
Thank you! Leonardo produce the non-engraved bands and then they send them to their supplier for engraving with a special three-dimensional pantograph, obviously they supply the drawings. This is a very precise and expensive job
I'm on the verge of spending €480 plus vat plus shipping on an MZG. But, reading about poor QC on the nibs is scaring me. I'll be buying from another country, sending it back would be very difficult. Only if they were more consistent on the nib quality.
I hope Leonardo will not use the Bock nibs anymore, but only the jowo nibs. My leonardo officina italiana momento zero limit edition with Bock nib doesn't write well, not good in this price caliber.
Sorry to hear about the bad writing experience of your Leonardo with Bock nib. Please ship the pen to us and our nib specialist will check the nib for you free of charge!
The employees writing with the pens must not have much pen tuning experience. There are so many examples of misaligned tines and babies bottom. It’s not entirely their fault, as the Germans are more known for over polishing. That being said, i wouldn’t expect a pen at this price point to be worked on by a nibsmith.
I really appreciate those workers...
Veramente bello ! Stilografiche uniche
I now have a new appreciation of the pen in my hand - and not just because it is pretty and writes well. 😊
