- When designing a poster, starting with a blank canvas can often be bewildering, but if we start with a grid, it can help give us a framework to help layout our visual elements.
If you sometimes struggle with your design and want more ideas and inspiration, then this may be the video for you!
This video is going to be really important for those of you who want to improve on your layouts and learn about grids and how you can use them in your design.
In this video, I am going to discuss grids and the various grids you can consider using in the context of poster design, but these grids can be used in any layout design you wish to create.

Right? I went to school for this and am still learning doing stuff at work or just from these videos.
jajjaj better thaaaaan, for sure. In mine, never care about grid. Just modular grid. Never heard of the others in school, I had to learned by my myself.

Right this is the first time I’ve heard about it and I went to school for this and have been doing design for years lol.
@@mrs.quills7061 where you went to school? In Germany you will start learn Grid from start in first semester.
Never knew of this system and I went to school for this… what a clean and well thought out video with clear explanations. I’ll use this in my own work moving forward to help expand my design compositions! I knew about design hierarchy, fonts, color theory all that, but never this. Will be looking forward to more videos from you!
Actually, now that I think about it the hierarchical grid is what I’d use to sketch out layout concepts, but I just did that because it made the most sense and didn’t know it was an actual thing just did it naturally. Going forward, I want to try the radial and axial grids. Those look super interesting and challenging!
When I was doing my AAS in graphic design, I only got exposed to what a grid was but I never knew there were different types of grids😮...Now I'm pursuing my BA and I am very grateful for this in-depth knowledge I didn't learn in school. Thanks a lot!!!
