  • North Africa is largely a problematic destination for black tourists. In many instances, many have narrated how there were subtle shades of racial profiling during their trips. However, Morocco has taken it to the next level openly discriminating tourists based on race. Ondiro Oganga reports

Iam Eritrean and Cristian. I have visited twice to morrocco. Both marrakesh and tetouan in the north. I have received nothing but good treatment. But if they are doing mistreatment, i heard of Royal Maroc airlines is doing mistreat to african passengers the countries should ban them from their airspace. The airlines would soon go bankrupt.

As a black American, there’s places even in my own country of America, where I don’t go because I know how they feel about me and I could be hurt or even killed by going there. Black African maids are terribly mistreated in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and other Arab countries. Don't forget the fact that the Arabs started the black African slave trade, way before the Europeans did. Morocco didn't even want to be part of the African Union. In 1987 they tried to join the European Union, but the application was rejected by the EU.

when u say arab remember its not moroccans at the time when the african-arab slave trade happend it wasent in north africa it was in east africa by ACTUAL arabs not berber or amazigh people obviously later on they became arabized but it started there idk why ppl are still using the slavery argument to victimize themselves obviously its a inhumane thing but japanese enslaved korean, ottoman turks were enslaved by romanians and so on africans enslaved others too like sokoto caliphate the issue is many people going to morocco or countries like this want to be pampered or worshipped by the people cuz there different but no people just wana live there lives and when it dosent go there way they use the "racism" card and victimize themselves to be fair theres stories of majority sub sahran countries mistreating others too but no one talks baout that because they dont let these things not le tthem enjoy there vacation north africa is not arab culturally historically if they are then i guess somalia, easta frica, djibouti, comoros are all arab too then remember they were arabized stop holding on to these things also please source ur info of black workers being treated bad also u didnt need to add "other arab countries" when you dont even know which one they are 🤦‍ these countries have some of the best education, are very safe, low crime rate, clean no tax barely, no intrest rate

To clarify, this TH-cam channel is South African. The reason for mentioning this is the historical tension between South Africa and Morocco, with the former being perceived as a disguised enemy supporting certain terrorist organizations against Moroccan territorial integrity.
Despite this report emphasized Morocco as a hub of racism against its African counterparts, it's important to note the numerous African tourists who have experienced warm hospitality and kindness from the Moroccan people.
While acknowledging that racism exists globally, it is unfair to blame an entire nation for the actions of a few individuals. Let's avoid promoting offensive propaganda against Morocco based on isolated incidents.

However, the Kingdom of Morroco just granted the three land lock African countries, namely, Niger, Burkina Faso, and Mali access to its seaport. That cannot go unoticed, especially, knowing that such action could angered ECOWAS. But, that was a risk Morroco was willing to take to support its African brothers. Moroccans will hate you for referring to their country as an African country. Psychologically, they have removed themselves from continental Africa and have classified themselves as middle eastern, Arab state. They hate Black people even though the indigenous people of the land are black and have always been black, but they have been marginalized, discriminated against and pushed out centuries ago by the Arab colonizers. It’s the same as with Egypt. The Arabs who call themselves Egyptians today are only colonizers who centuries ago conquered and colonized the land, pushed out and marginalized the ancient Egyptians who are black people, the ones that built the pyramids and had a great civilization thousands of years ago. The evidence is all over North Africa. The pyramids and tombs tell the story of who the real Egyptians are. The whole world knows, and those who don’t already know are waking up to the facts. Nothing that is kept hidden will remain hidden forever. Truth will prevail. It might be long before the truth comes out but the lies won’t last forever.

I joined the excursion and went into a town with plenty of shops. What's weird is all of the Michael Jackson and Michael Jordan posters in many stores. There were just a lot of street hawkers trying to sell me things. They spoke English well and called me "brother." I mostly stayed with the group and on a bus there. I can't say I was treated any differently than the white people in the excursion.

As a Black American traveling alone, I was expecting to encounter racism as I have in Europe and America. I could not have been more wrong. 99.99 percent of every Moroccan I met was kind, warm, and welcoming. I felt more at home in Morocco than in my own country. I met people from Senegal and Cameroon while I was there. I made a point to ask how they like living in Morocco. Some hoped to get to Europe, and some were happy in Marrakech. While staying in Marrakesh, I had a difficult experience at the border control. The officer asked me twice about my nationality, even though I had pointed to my UK passport to indicate where I was from. He then asked about my father's nationality, but I chose not to respond. Despite my silence, he eventually allowed me to pass. Unfortunately, this was just one of many similar incidents I faced during my time in Marrakesh, and it made me hesitant to return to Morocco.

I took a local bus from Agadir to Casablanca by myself. No problem. 24 years later we have an economic and migrant crisis. Mostly young men from west African countries. Our young men are trying to reach Europe vis Morocco and Libya. This is causing the clash. Poverty is kicking us all in the ... They are not going to distinguish between the well-off tourist and the poor migrant. This more than anything should make us realize as African people that as long as our kinfolk are left out of the race for a decent life and most resources go to a few elites (ie gold, oil, minerals) we are all screwed. I could not go to Morocco now knowing that African youth are drowning off the coast of theses countries trying to get to Europe. Too bizarre to fathom.
