I was so happy to see a new video from you! You truly are my favourite in the book community on youtube. I really enjoyed some of Joan Didion's articles before, and I admire her as a writer and person but I also got the feeling that way too much went over my head, and I wasn't sure if it was a me problem or social context that I was missing. The effort you put into this video! The coffee shop shots were really nice, I love the idea of reading in a coffee shop but they are not really popular where I live at the moment. The Sally Rooney Oeuvre was excellent. I started reading Normal People last year but never finished, didn't really feel the need to come back to it at all, and I guess I will just be skipping her as an author. And I just have to say that your makeup skills are amazing! I love the way you use eyeshadow. Thank you for another amazing video! I hope you are doing well.
your comments are always so well thought out 🥺 "social context" is actually a great way to put it - I also felt like I was missing out a bit because of my lack of knowledge of that setting/time period that's okay, Sally Rooney definitely isn't for everyone! thank you for comlimenting my eyeshadow, I recently got a my first rainbow pallette and decided to play with it 🙈 thank you again, and I hope you're having a great day!
the best content i've watched in a while babe 💗 that sally rooney mindmap board is going into the history books! much to think about, I guess I'll be forever torn between wanting to have an opinion on rooney but not being motivated enough to read her books. also maybe the female experince is doomed to be a miserable one anyway but i'll definitely have to make a lil search on some more uplifting but still intelectual books 🤡
thank you 🥰 I was going to throw out the mind map but then I was like "no, she's an icon" well, I'm assuming Sally Rooney will publish a lot of books in the future so maybe your time will come 🤡
That was a very fun format! I imagine it was quite time-consuming though, but all that effort definitely paid off! Also, all your outfits and make-up are 🔥
Thanks for this video! I loved all 3 Sally Rooney novels, I find it encapsulates my sad girl vibe and my absolute struggle to express my feelings or consider them! I guess that's, as you said, very part of the experience of being a millennial and she does succeed in doing that. I found all you said about her work very true though.
Loved your Sally Rooney analysis! The theory that you can only like one or the other is funny to me because I really enjoyed both books! Though I did prefer Conversations With Friends as I like Frances as a character more, though I agree I didn't like the ending as much as Normal People! However I hated Beautiful World Where I Are You so seems like there's a Sally Rooney book to dislike for everyone haha
Ohhh, interesting! Based on what I said in the video, do you think I would like Beautiful World Where Are You? I wasn't going to read it but then I heard someone saying that while her other novels are character driven, BWWAY is more idea driven and I was like... wait maybe I AM interested 🙈
@@AniasBellJar Interesting, I don't know if I would necessarily call it idea driven, but then I found it not driven by anything, it felt meandering and repetitive to me. Almost like a parody of a Sally Rooney book because it switches between two characters who I just couldn't stand, they just seemed so privileged and self interested without being self aware about it! However lots of people love it so there must be something in there people enjoyed!
@@lucyrutherford that's fascinating because that's pretty much the same criticism that I've heard other people say about her other books 😂 so I guess my theory that you're going to enjoy one or the other based on which characters you end up liking is correct haha

thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it! haha I got my first rainbow palette so I decided to experiment with some looks 🙈
I also gave Normal People 3 stars and just might read Conversations with Friends this year to see if I like that better. Enjoyed this video 💜

I guess I forgot about people who enjoyed all of her books 😅 Happy for you! I'm still pondering whether I want to read Beautiful World Where Are You
