Welcome to this flight review of a TUI Boeing 787 Dreamliner on a flight from Malaga to Manchester.
Earlier in 2018 I reviewed a Boeing 737 flight with TUI but the worlds largest charter airline also fly further afield. If you have a long haul holiday booked with TUI, chances are you may experience the 787 Dreamliner. So what can you expect from one of the worlds most advanced aircraft? Let's find out on this short flight from Malaga to Manchester. Stick around for my final thoughts at the end of the review.

I have to say that personally I have never had a bad flight with TUI. I am sure others have but I enjoyed both of my experiences this year.

I am a subscriber since the first hour and I like the way the channel is developing. Nice that you use more and more voice over, I also like the honest conclusion at the end. Your channel is especially interesting for those who can not afford business or first class tickets. You give them an honest insight into what awaits them in the Eco. What a brilliant video this is, I flew on the TUI 787-9 (G-TUIK) from LGW to MBJ and back and it is by far my most viewed video! It has also been brilliant to have a look inside Malaga Airport as I will be using it for the first time in February after a short 1 night stay in Torremolinos.

TUI 787 is My favourite plane. I flew on it from Manchester to Cancun in July and was very impressed.
I will have to try it long haul for the full experience but I enjoyed it too.

Brilliant video mate! Dreamliner is a fantastic aircraft indeed. One problem with the windows is that on long haul flights crew dims and lock them, so you cannot look outside for several hours. I wouldn't want to miss watching Greenland for instance.
Glad that you enjoyed the video. Thankfully I have yet to experience the crew locking the windows. Only tried TUI and BA though so far.
Hi blake just to correct you its Cordoba not Granada airport, I just flew that route and noticed it and your right about the heat in the airport they had opened the windows but must turn the A/C of in the winter.
Really a nice and informative video! Looked like an enjoyable flight, must be great to fly the Dreamliner on such short flights. The product looks adequate, if I am honest though wouldn't consider flying them across the Atlantic over the competition - the prices are usually pretty high and the network isn't the best.
BTW, not a fan of those windows. Hate the fact that the crew can control them and the fact that they are usually dimmed on most of the Long haul flights.
Thankfully in my limited experience of the 787 with TUI and BA the crew have let passengers control the windows.

Personally I am a big fan and would try to secure one in future
Done shorthaul on TUI 787s twice, we went to Cyprus on India Charlie (same aircraft on return) economy cabin seated just behind the wing and Kos, India Kilo out and India Juliet return in premium economy seated row 1 centre 3, this year we are going to Cancun and have selected the extra legroom seats on row 34 G,H and J both ways
The extra legroom seats are very comfortable, I am sure that you will have a great flight.
Great report as per. You are right, TUI’s 787 operations are pretty low key! I seem to recall the original 787 order was from First Choice Airways?

Excellent video Blake! I have actually booked a holiday with TUI. Going to Barbados from Birmingham in February 2020. Very convenient that TUI offer this route from BHX. They have said it will most likely be a 787, May get swapped to a good old 767 though. I really don't mind what I get, yes the Dreamliner is nice and new and would be great to have it, but the 767 has always been an aircraft I have wanted to fly on! What would you prefer?

Haha, I’ll be flying the exact same route with TUI on a 787-8 but in April 2019.
I'll be flying TUI's 787-8 on Sunday. My flight is about 10 hours long and AFAIK they don't serve you a meal, unless you pay for it. A cold snack and a drink is provided free of cost, and to use your IFE, you must pay 7 € per flight.
I can only speak for what I have experienced with TUI UK. On long haul flights there is no charge for in flight entertainment and a complimentary hot meal and drinks are provided to all passengers.
Can you plug and play mate,as far as playing movies off your own device via a USB?
As far as I know you can’t use the USB port to playback your own entertainment. They are for device charging only from what I can remember. It’s been a while since I was on this aircraft though.

As far as I am aware TUI do offer earphones but I always take my own and have no problems. Enjoy your flight!
on long haul, economy you get earbud type earphones, in premium you get over ear type, if you take your own earphones you will need the airline flight adapter, which are cheap enough.

Its not the windows themselves that I hate but I hate it when the crew dim them. I Only heard this from reports.
Personally never had that happen to me but I have heard of it and would find that very frustrating too.

It's a track called Are You Happy? - It was actually used by TUI for some of their hotel tour videos online a while back.

Why such a large aircraft for such a short flight
Usually it is due to availability, making use of an aircraft when it would otherwise be sitting idle and on this day demand. The flight was completely full and a large number of cruise passengers were onboard.

Low quality charter pretending they're something they aren't... BA or Virgin 787 are better (granted, more expensive) yet Norwegian are better and they're low cost. Tui need to stop pretending they're higher class than a budget airline

They aircraft are equipped in a way that is perfect for them to get holiday makers to and from there chosen destination. They are not an airline built ovally for commuting like Norwegian. So it’s Interesting you say on par with airlines like Norwegian when Norwegian are the ones currently trying not to go bankrupt...

Although the parent company is indeed from Germany, TUI UK is a separate entity.
