  • If you are looking to take your sim rig flying experience to the next level then check out these control panels from Virpil!
    CORRECTION: The 128 button bind limit is per controller which makes it less of an issue unless you are using Virpil's daisy chain feature linking control panels to other virpil devices. Still good to know but less likely to affect you if you are just plugging them in independently.

    re the buttons the 128 number is per detected joystick device, so for example i have 104 on one device, 30 something on each mfd (x3) , another 24 on a separate button box... you dont need to use separate software for them to be recognised, i suspect what is happening is that you are chaining the devices through virpil's software or physically via their cable management solution so it looks like one device.

      Thanks for the correction speed that must have been what was happening to me very good to know. That certainly makes it less likely to affect most people and much easier to sort out if does. Cheers!

      Came here for this! Rocking a VKB MCGU but eyeing a CM3 and button box (since VKB can’t seem to get a throttle to market). I’ve been wondering about this limitation and appreciate the clarification!

    • @fubarace1027
      @fubarace1027 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, when you daisy chain the button box your game sees your, say throttle + button box as one device for it's cumulative button max. And that's the combination that MAY give you issues, but I dont think so. When I go to Virpil's joystick tester, my CM2 shows 31 buttons, to which you have to add 4x6 more buttons (4 more banks of the 6 momentary keys) so 55 buttons. 128 - 55 gives you 78 buttons of space on the button box, which it surely doesn't have.
      DCS has a 128 button limit, I believe Star Citizen recently went up to 100 buttons per device.
      Jesse, the info that would be helpful for this is the number of buttons the Virpil Joy tester says each button box has! It LOOKS like the one with the level has 42 + the light controls, and maybe 47 for the pure button box. So the pure button box + throttle might have small issues with SC.

  • @sinepilot
    @sinepilot 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    I have the first button box and it's great. I also have the 3rd version of the Virpil throttle (finally a AAA throttle with a center detent!) and I really like how my pc can see them as one unit, but I'm also glad I have the flexibility to separate them. The setup is firmware-based so there's no need to leave any utility open while using these sticks to make use of your custom settings. I love that.

      Those are attached to the Virpil desk mount via an adapter they sell for attaching their button boxes to their desk mount. In other words the same mount that is holding the stick to the desk is also where the control panels are attached.

    • @jessecalder
      @jessecalder  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The more you use your HOTAS the more you’ll commit it to memory. The whole point of a HOTAS is so you don’t have to think to hard or take your hands off the controls to do things. Eventually it will become second nature and you certainly won’t need to look at them. If it’s a newer headset it may have cameras on the front that you can activate to see the real world (keyboard for example) if you need to.

      Make one to the same standard and find out exactly how much it costs. Just because you "can’t imagine" the costs involved in product development, marketing, distribution, labour and everything else involved with manufacturing; does not mean they do not exist.
