    I UPDATED this video because people wanted to know how I close one end to make the tunnel into a cave. I show how to do this for FREE also.

      to crimp the end you can use the workmate

    Great video! If you’re still responding to questions, I’d love to know how hot the PVC needs to be to become soft enough to squeeze the end. Can I use a regular blow dryer on high? Thanks.

      No, I used a heat gun the kind to remove paint from the wall, but you need about 250'f to bend PVC - Thank you for the comment!

    Does the printing on the pipes annoy the pleco’s?

    Excellent video! The only thing different that I would do would be to add the sand to the PVC at the end so even the crimp end would be covered in sand. Thanks for sharing!

    I wonder if you rolled the pipe in seachem flourite ....if you could grow plants on it????

    I was trying to think of a way to make some caves when I spotted some PVC in my garage. I like the way you crimped the ends and added sand to the outside ! Did your plecos lay eggs in it yet? Thank you ..

    You could probably pop it in the oven until the pvc gets a little soft then using oven mits or tongs you could roll it in the sand and it might work. That would cut the cost of silicone

      AND also close one end at the same time

      Great idea - What is a good temp to set the oven at? Thank you for your comment!

    Was that nail polish pure acetone? Maybe if it wasn’t that’s why it didn’t work well

    If you use 40mm pipe (1 3/4") and do the squish, cover with gravel/rocks, you can make it look pretty real. :)

    How come it needed sand glued to it? Is that just for looks or some other benefit ?

    • @StevesRealWorld
      @StevesRealWorld  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I "THOUGHT" it looked better. Maybe not..

      Steve's World I think it looks fine, I just thought maybe to help eggs adhere or something

    You the 1st I've seen put silicone on it then roll it in sand. I got to try that!

    My PVC floats. How did you sink yours?

    • @StevesRealWorld
      @StevesRealWorld  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't float because it's covered with sand. I use pool filter sand in all of my shrimp tanks.
