So basically, this woman didn't want you to be there, but if you were there, your presence had to be at a minimal. The cruise line should try to match people who are similar, like put you with someone your age and put her with another control freak.
Another great video, Lucy. Words of experience do go a long way for those who listen. Your guidance should help lots of people looking to work on cruise ships.
I'm flabbergasted that this woman wouldn't even tolerate a picture of your parents. That's unbelievably selfish. My response would be, "If you don't like it, you have my permission not to look at it." On the other hand, I do understand the perfume issue. As someone who is extremely allergic to a lot of scents, perfume would bother me a lot.
That's a nightmare of an experience but I had a 1st contract where my awkward roommate thought it was ok to go number 1sies in our rubbish bucket I was absolutely thoroughly unimpressed by this and a few other things set me off about him so I calmly finished up my contract and walked into a hotel job on land a week later.
Lucy, thanks for another cool video. You know, polite/direct communication + mature/tolerant compromise = diplomacy. Maybe something in international affairs / diplomacy is in your future? (Perhaps David Lammy needs a hand? Hmm.. Under-Secretary Lucy?) 😀'Til then, thanks for sharing your learned advice. Fair winds sweetie! (P.S. Love the "volume-down" graphic!!)
you should make a video about why they are actually hiring but calling you on duty, there are no positions available or at least it is the case for MSC,Royal Caribbean and princess, a minimum of 1 year for they to call you on duty after being hired and in the best scenario after having turned in all the requested documentation.
I have had roommates ever since I was 15 years old and went way to boarding school. I have traveled across the world and lived with people of all nationalities and ages and sexes. The age gap can be a real issue. I can see from a female perspective of being a younger girl the older one would be too set in her ways and not fun or understanding. And from an older view, I would think the young one would really be annoying, and not considerate or respectful.. I would not want to live with my younger self. Couldn’t they place roommates closer in age together?
You should write a book on how many years of experiences you’ve had with roommates ❤❤❤.
Perfect! Yes you are right, COMMUNICATION IS THE KEY

I wouldnt want to have people over in the cabin either. You really never know with people. That was a reasonable request.
Lot's of love from India 🇮🇳 ♥️ ❤️

15:01 is is common for crew members to steal stuff? And if so does anything get done about it
Lucy, have you ever considered being on Below Deck?
