Great choice Lucy! Just guessing, but it seems like getting to know who to contact to fix each problem and the process to get them to do it would be the biggest challenge. Multi-tasking, turnover/documentation for the rest of the team, and being able to provide a time estimate for when the problem will be corrected are probably the other skill set to master. I would like to hear a bit more about what the internal work she mentioned covers.

Hari, ALL ships crew / international mariners (anyone that works on a ship in international waters and/or making international voyages) must hold an STCW certificate, which of course includes basic fire-fighting, first aid, CPR, survival training, etc. etc....(and all ships have many AED's so as to not need to wait for the doctor to arrive). So the answer to your second question is Yes. As for a passenger having a DNR (you will not get hired as crew with a DNR), I suppose each cruise line, each ship's master (captain) and each ship's doctor would have their own policy and procedures, but to be clear I would absolutely present your DNR to both the ship's doctor and the ship's master, immediately upon boarding (they may even politely refuse you boarding/passage, depending on your medical diagnosis and their policies) I hope this helps? {FYI, my Mom lived another 6+ YEARS after signing her DNR, so I do understand..}

Congrats and wishing you good luck! 😀Fyi, Lucy has commented previously that if you're doing the interview on-line/zoom, etc. make sure you are in a nice quiet, orderly, and clean environment ---- so that the interviewer can see that you are serious and professional (don't try to do a zoom interview from your phone walking in the street, nor in a busy cafe, etc.) Even if you need to sit in a closet/wardrobe, etc. to have a quiet place, be sure to look at your background, too! 😀Also, don't emphasize your "desire to travel", but rather try to casually mention your desire to take care of the guests while getting experience to move-up with the company....it's tough to make this casual and sound sincere, and not some line of BS....but, just don't gush over a desire to travel, because that is what EVERYONE wants --- you want to stand out as more serious about work. 😀 Fair winds and good luck!
