    I keep a couple of dozen pickets on hand in case I have to do a repair on my fence. I made one of these with one of those boards. I was surprised how sturdy it was when assembled. I was even more surprised when I saw the retail price if I were to purchase one at the local garden store or big box store. It cost me almost nothing and I saved $50. Thanks for the great video.

    Wife wanted a trellis and the garden center had these for $40. $4 and 30 minutes later voilla! Great, easy to follow video. Would be awesome to list approx. reference points in description, but thats only because I don't get good reception in my workshop.

    I also make them with the Pine pickets and paint them Flat White but the Cedar trellis will take less time without having to wait for paint to dry. Great video. Thank you.

    Very nice. Would this trellis be good for roses? Also, what about using pressure treated wood vs cedar?

  • @scotchrysler3007

    Excellent video! I may have to build some of these! Cedar fence planks are not very common in my area, but I do have a 2x4x8ft cedar board I could use. After that, could pressure treated be used?

    • @SpecificLove7
      @SpecificLove7  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cedar 2x4 could work great but it does cost a lot more, at least in my area. I probably would not use the pressure treated wood for your plants and garden because of the chemicals that could cross over.

    • @markb8954
      @markb8954 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@SpecificLove7 Pressure Treated Wood no longer uses “nasty chemicals” like it did back in the early days. PT wood is perfectly safe to use in gardens, trellises, raised beds, etc.

  • @jmsit78

    Love the project. I'm currently building these for mothers day. The timing seems to be a bit off. Using a jig and air stapler (no glue), got 5 done in about 30 min. Does glue make it that much better?

    • @lincolndickerson1293
      @lincolndickerson1293 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wondered the same thing. Though the glue on the endgrain does not seem optional to me.

    • @SpecificLove7
      @SpecificLove7  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You don't have to use glue, but I prefer it just in case the staple rusts quickly. But 5 in 30 minutes is hard to disagree with.

    • @victoryak86

      James, pine will have a tendency to rot much quicker if left untreated. if sealed they would last longer of course.

      @@jamesbarlowjr.3762 not a problem. pine would last a few seasons tho, especially if treated. would want to pay more attention to the part that is buried as it would rot faster.

    Good morning fellow anarchists, lol. These are great but dont ship well. To broaden my customer base I make mini trellises for planter, window, & flower boxes. I max out at 16 inches tall and about 12 inches wide that way I can send them in a large book ox or a picture box.

    I remember when the pickets were $1.79. It's sad how high lumber prices have gotten to.

    • @SpecificLove7
      @SpecificLove7  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is unfortunate how prices keep going up, but that is just a process of inflation and need for resources. Just make the best of what you got.
